Hello dangan ronpa thread! I'm going to be cosplaying sonia for a con in may (acen) and i don't want to mess it up, since i've seen a lot of really mediocre and bad sonias, i want to be one of the better ones!

i really like cifera's sonia wig since it has a nice wave/volume to it, so i want a wavy wig as opposed to the stick straight sonia wigs i see on some cosplayers....i also want to make sure it's the right color, a really light almost white blonde, since i've seen a lot of wigs which are too blonde or too yellow.

Yeah, I'm not too good at styling and I haven't done much makeup before since this is the first character I've done that actually needs a lot, like more than just some foundation and blush before I call it a day on it. Junko may need an extra large amount of make up since she's got the gyaru style going on, but every anime type character needs at least some eyeliner to try to imitate the eye shape etc. Even if they wouldn't wear any, it's no excuse. I would get a long wig and pull it back, but only about halfway, if that makes sense. Her hair is still pulled back but not necessarily into a ponytail, more just into the braid it seems. Pull it back, pin it at the braid, and then weft the hell out of that back part and tease it just a bit to give it that bump. Or use a Bump-It if that works.

The cones are decent but it's just a mess. If you're going to a photoshoot run a brush through your wig. And I personally don't think the blue is bright enough but that part isn't so bad.

I used foam on the cones but thats it. It was my first big wig project and I still have some stuff I want to fix, mostly adding more flip to the back and horn adjustments but for a first run it's okay I guess?
That is interfacing on the skirt, it was my first pleated skirt and I got interfacing that was wayyy too thick, plus I've been losing weight and didn't have time to properly make the skirt smaller to size, hence why it looks really bulky in a lot of the photos hah!
I realize that a lot is wrong with the costume, it was a lot of experimentation that cost a lot of money haha.
I was positive that Twogami adjusted his position so there wouldn't be an upskirt but those didn't get posted? I am pretty upset about being able to see up my skirt, and to be honest would appreciate if this photo would at least be removed off of 4chan :/

Your wig doesn't look bad. The cone shape looks pretty nice. But for any future skirts, you really don't need to interface a pleated skirt. You get yourself a nice poplin or twill, top stitch down part of the pleat and you'll be fine. Otherwise the interfacing will make the skirt too stiff and it'll stand up like it does in the photo.

You do if the only fabric you can find isn't stiff enough the way poplin or twill (which come in limited color ranges at a lot of fabric stores) would be. Just use a light fusible interfacing, it doesn't have to be anything thick.

Thanks! I ended up using a lightweight cotton since it was a really great color, and thought using interfacing would give it the right weight. I feel it might've actually worked if i had used something much lighter though!
I want to look for matching twill for my new skirt though, and i appreciate your advice a lot!

I guess you could, but you have to remember that if you interface it, even with a light interfacing it's still going to be stiff. Probably more stiff then you want it to be. The lightweight stuff is usually used for collars or cuffs. If its just a little extra "weight" you're looking for, just line the skirt with the same material. You probably ended up using Kona or something like that, it'll get the weight you want without loosing any of the flow of the skirt or make it really stiff.

She does. I've also noticed she's really cliquey with her Dangan Ronpa cosplay network too. A friend of mine applied for it, and never got any word back. He tried to reserve a spot because he wasn't sure if he'd have his cosplay ready before the deadline, but he did get it done and when he asked on the status of his application, he never got any word back at all. None of his messages would be answered at all. I've also noticed that she seems to reblog her selfies and shoot photos a lot to get them at the top of people's dashboards to make sure they see her pictures.
