I still don't think SnK has peaked, especially not around here and KLK's tumblr following is too low to become HUGE.

There is going to be a wave of Mirai Kuriyama's, but I doubt it'll last long. Same with Frozen, the latter is probably just going to be like the Jack Frost fad. KnK and SnK are going to be popular. I haven't seen much SAO these days though, like HS. As for WTNV, I doubt a lot of it because there are no official designs so Tumblr is particularly vicious about cosplays coming from that fandom.

I feel like most Homestucks have left and moved onto different fandoms at this point, there was a two month break last year and we're now in the third month of another break. Which I hope means you'd see less of them and I could cosplay it without getting TOO much flak...

With DHMIS, I'm not counting on it, at ALL, especially since there's only two fucking videos to base things off of, at least with other Tumblr fads they still kept progressing (like Welcome to Night Vale). And on top of that, your only options are the clock and notebook, no one really wants to be the other three (the bird, the red guy, the yellow guy...). And finally, you'd have to at least put in a bit of effort and.. dare I say, creativity and time, at least because you've got the notebook with her crazy colored hair and the clock's blue face with yellow outlines and the red clock hands.

Anyways, I think SnK will be the most popular cosplays this year. With the manga still going and the second season (which should cover some more arcs) on the way, it's still going strong. And with SnK, I've seen many, many people talk about cosplaying it and making cosplay groups for upcoming cons, working on 3DMG and the jackets, and the characters do have a uniform so it's rather simple to cosplay.

I hardly see anyone talk about Super Sonico, though I think she's been around as it is, but only just recently got an anime? The most iconic thing about her is her headphones I think (and of course the fact that she's busty), whereas with something like Ryuko Matoi or Yoko Littner, they have their more revealing outfits and even more recognizable props (Ryuko's sword, Yoko's sniper rifle). I sort of feel like Ryuko is the next Yoko, because of revealing, yet distinct and recognizable outfits.

Anyway, Tumblr's a shifting tide so I don't think it's fair anymore to call predictions on a year. We can predict a few months or so in advance at this point.
I'm not seeing anywhere near as much Kill la Kill or KnK as I thought I would. With KLK, they might be waiting until it's finished.
Free! is definitely coming back though, it's got a second season planned for summer, if I'm not mistaken.
RWBY seems to be getting bigger, and Homestuck is an endless stream of piss.

I'm at least thankful cons are getting more diverse, rather than having one or two fandoms dominating half the con floor.

Well, I know how Sonico differs from Vocaloids. It's kinda hard to explain what exactly I meant by that.
I like the anime despite not being a fan of fanservice. I'm glad there isn't as much as there could be, but it feels like what fanservice there is is executed really strangely for some reason and that bugs me.
Also, I don't think Nitroplus would be the right people to yell at. They created her, but White Fox is the studio animating her.

I would love to see this. Especially more range in the characters and not just the 100 luffys. I love Luffy but it would be nice to see other characters as well. I'm not caught up in the manga but I know Law has been a bigger part/more popular out of all the rookies.

See I enjoyed Dramatical Murder because Nitro+Chiral makes some pretty good visual novels where I don't mind the sex scenes plus the soundtracks are neat as well but ever since it gained more popular on tumblr not many people look for the other VNs that N+C did. I thought DMMD was good for a BL visual novel but because it and reconnect were translated it opens up the gateway to all these new annoying tumblr fans. I played DMMD before any sort of english patch and there was a small and fun group of fans I found on tumblr but since the english patch I can't stand most of the fandom and cosplayers. They are the type of people who think DMMD is a literary masterpiece and download the english Hadaka Shitsuji and get offended by it because it's not like their kawaii yaois.

I play lots of BL visual novels and I am saddened that I'd probably never really see anything else cosplayed. I've personally cosplayed TnC with plans to do Sweet Pool but most of these new DMMD fans don't even know other nitro+chiral works it seems.

Same Anon here, it's like with Dangan Ronpa I was the same when it came to playing it, no English patch at all then when it came out BAM so many people from tumblr started kissing it's ass but I also think it was because of the anime. I've been think of cosplaying Super Sonico for a while now but I'm concerned about an over saturation of them at the next convention I'm going to. I'm probably going to do the black color version of her nurse figure. I feel like everyone is going to be doing the pink and white nurse costume since you can buy it on the internet. I own her nurse figure in the white version and want to make it as accurate as possible. All the other cosplays I've seen of her they used syringes that were inaccurate.

Thing about Homestuck is that the entire thing is about 50% community participation. The entire comic has been and is influenced by the fans, a lot of the art, games, music, merchandise etc is also fanmade. To get the whole experience you need to take part in the fandom and since the entire thing is fucking HUGE you get very close to your Homestuck friends. It may seem really silly but I have gotten so many friends through the comic and just by being part of the community for a year it has influenced a LOT of things in my life.

All the "flavour of the month" fans I've seen have disappeared very quickly because the comic simply takes a lot of investment and energy, sadly it is also those who are quick to move on (along with the relatively few bad eggs) who became the outwards face for the fandom.

Either way, my point is basically that I and many more have a very strong bond to Homestuck and Homestuck cosplay and will probably continue with it long after it is gone. Sorry, but there's your next classic.

I feel like Im turning into a hipster because Im starting to let a fandom's outlook/Tumblr's involvement affect my participation in a series. There are some shows that I wont touch because Tumblr is so attached to them, and I often get irritated by seeing them plastered all over the place. Like Doctor Who. It's a good show and I liked a few of the creepy episodes, but Im also sick of seeing it everywhere.

I just get tired of arguing with people and drama, and since most of the new things come chock full of easily offended Tumblrtards, I tend to stay away until they die down. The lesser known fandoms do not have this problem, but they're not as appreciated, which makes it a double-edged sword.

Every person Ive encountered who knows what Usavich is has always been tickled that Ive cosplayed from it. Same with Superjail, though that show is an interesting medium where the show is well known but seldom cosplayed.

Ive been trying to find more shows that fall into that latter category, specficially ones that I like, and I find that nostalgia is the way to go. That's why Ive got Koenma (and possibly Yusuke) on my future cosplay list, because Yu Yu Hakusho is pretty rad.

I'm glad that a lot of my smaller fandoms didn't have tumblr to fuel the accumulation of bad apples, which I honestly feel is how a lot of this is spreading so quickly. The last good moderately sized fandom I was in was KHR, and we had manageable to no drama. Meets were always huge, crazy, but always a lot of fun. I think that was the last time I was in a larger fandom that was full of relatively level headed people. And god do I miss it. I think that's the one reason I'm still hanging onto KLK, because so far the fandom seems on a similar level of sanity as KHR, but who knows, that may change.

Guy who cosplays adult reborn and hibari here. I completely agree with what you said and I too am very grateful for that. The fandom may not be as huge as most of the popular ones but I have noticed during my KHR meetups everyone was moderately chill and nice and not crazy insane, hell even the underaged ones were pretty chill. Very cool Tsuna I met who was 16 at one of the meetups.

Ugh. The DHMIS humanization shit pisses me off on so many levels. All the ms-characterization (especially with the notepad), boring designs, and the usual Tumblr trend of only focusing on the characters they can shlick to. I don't see anyone cosplaying the yellow puppet or the bird anytime soon.

But yeah, I feel like the biggest fads, at least for the first half of the year, will be DHMIS and Frozen (shitty Elsas everywhere). The Homestuck finale/game and SAO S2 will probably make both of those tumors return with a vengeance, too.
