Skeleton tights, plastic jewellery, animal headwear.

I'm starting up a lolita/jfashion shop for accessories and I'm really interested in what people would like or think the future of lolita trends might be. I want to give a wide variety of accessories for the staple looks but I also want to make new things that people will be into as well.

It depends on the quality of your items first and foremost. Even if you're delivering to ~future trends~, it won't matter if what you make is subpar.

>>7328987
Agree with everything here

>> No.7328999

Hate: OTT Sweet
Like: Classic and Gothic
Trends for the future: OTT Gothic and then suddenly Classic will be the biggest thing.
What needs to die: RH shoes, plastic accessories

>> No.7329001

>>7328995
I would say it will be mid-range. Not the best but not falling apart. It's mostly going to be accessories so necklaces, bows, bracelets, etc. I wont be pricing them very high. Basically just trying to make it even between quality/cost.

Like, I'm not going to be throwing in diamonds on my jewelry, but it's not going to be shitty acrylic gems either.

Classic elitism, hating on sweet

>Trends you hate
Most 'new' fusion styles (steampunk, creepy cute, cult party kei, cyber/rave, etc. + lolita), painting dresses

>Trends you like
The longer dresses I'm seeing lately. The silhouette seems more elegant to me. Also, the use of echarpe pieces. I think they look nice with the right outfit.

>Trends you would like to see come back
Dramatic platforms. There are a lot of cute shoes in lolita, but part of me misses those Meta and Moitie stripper heels.

>Trends you predict will happen in the future
More OTT Classic and Gothic, the continued and expanded use of more luxurious fabrics, more fusion styles (which I'll probably hate), crowns as headdresses (and not just miniature ones)

>Trends that are getting repetitive and need to die out
Alice-themed everything, printed tights with printed dresses, fusion styles (particularly creepy cute)

Creative new input from Chinese and Korean designers

>Trends you would like to see come back
More chunky huge stompy shoes

>Trends you predict will happen in the future
AP will release a strawberry, soft toy and then an animal print
Btssb will release more prints with berries, soft toys and then some animal music print
MMM will release a desert print
IW will do vegetable farms or plantations
Some indie brand will do a Mushroom one and it will look amazing people go crazy over it

Gothic, natural colored hair. It's not really a "trend" but I'm just really sick of all these bright and tacky colored wigs.

>Trends you predict will happen in the future
Brands will stop focusing so much on busy prints and put more attention into details in hems, lace, dress shape and construction.

>Trends that are getting repetitive and need to die out
Deer anything

That last one makes me pretty sad. I bought this Dolly Darling headband last year and I'm in love with it still. I never wore it with lolita but I see a lot of people just over doing the antlers in lolita. And I don't even want to mention the fawn makeup.

I'm really sad, because I've been wearing antlers with my Lolita for years. I was thrilled when it became more available and normal and now people are already burnt out on it.

>Trends you hate
Dropping heavy sweaters over a Lolita skirt and calling it pastel goth or popkei, or whatnot. It's just weird with the silhouette.

>Trends you like
MahouKei, or, more accurately, styles that embrace/use themes from classic Mahou Shoujo. I really want people to get ridiculous up in here, I mean. Really, look at this. Go further. And, in general, I'm pleased about the community as a whole embracing anime thing. It's cute.

>Trends you would like to see come back
As many people have said, big clunky shoes! I like teaparties and pretty heels, but I kind of miss the big frilly platform heels of yesteryear. I feel like it balanced people out? Heavy up top, heavy at the feet. It also did great for slimming ankles and legs.

>Trends you predict will happen in the future
Weird shit on your head. Like. Flower crowns won't be enough. They're going to start sticking books and libraries up there. Sort of an OTT Classic, where instead of cupcakes and icecream cones, it's violins and holy sensers or something.

I dont hate it but it start to get on my nerves because everybody does it and a few people are actually getting it : OTT anything. You can't throw a whole flower bouquet on your head and call it OTT classic, you can't bath yourself in glue and run into Claire's kid section and call it OTT sweet, period.
Other than that, I really don't like wig because most of them looks fake and it's easy to say that's not your true hair. Most people used them because it's easier to do that than to style their own hair and look form headdress that complement their hair color.

>Trends you would like to see come back
Embroidery. I one a few dress with embroidery and they are just so gorgeous, elegant and sublte. They're terribly underrated.

>Trends you predict will happen in the future
In a few years gothic lolita will come back in force, but maybe a little bit of old school before that. I really see more and more old school these days, quite strange given most newbies are still stucked in sugary sweet OTT and judge balckXwhite ita.

I think antlers are adorable but it was just too much at once. Antlers, deer prints, faux deer fur accessories, deer makeup. If it was taken into moderation, I wouldn't mind at all.

I'm still wearing this headband during Spring/Summer with himekaji and I might try cult party with it. I paid $45 so I want to wear it a more than I did last year since I was a bit shy about wearing it since they're pink fucking antlers. But I recently saw F21 have a few deer themed items so I won't feel too out there.

MM don't do anything new that often, sure, but actually VM try some things. They have new design each year they add on their tradtionnal yearly release, plus they started to make printed tights, which is really something for a so quiet and simple brand. They also make collaborations which are cute and interesting yet simple. Maybe you're not into classic so not sensible to subtle design because you prefer sweet, but they definitly have changed a lot.
MM is a smaller brand and they try to make new things but they have to do some re-release to keep their costumer and as all those dresses are handmade it isn't especially strange that they don't have time to make new design. Plus seeing how much they 'care', MM will certainly close in a few years.

Also, skeleton and bjd tights are overdone.
>Trends you like
Flower hairclips/ flower crowns. I like them more then alice bows. Also, tights instead of knee socks/OTKs, not necessarily print ones. I have chubby legs and tights just look better. Also, I'm glad crew socks got in style and more brands do them. IIRC in handbook crew socks are still referred to as something sissy-looking you should avoid.
>Trends you would like to see come back
Rectangular headdresses (tastefully done, like IW ones), more plaid/gingham/solid colored sweet. Oldschool but without chunky platforms.
>Trends you predict will happen in the future
Not much of a prediction, just something I would like. I wish a new brand would appear, that mixes mori aesthetics and lolita. More 'playful' style classic (think some of the AP releases, like Chocolate Rosette series), more preppy style lolita, with plaid, berets, school cardigans. More colors - green, burgundy, purple, subtle yellow, terracotta, dusty pink.

I hate the recent shit-on-OTT sweet trend that seems to have come alongside the recent rise of interest in classic lolita.
I hate people trying to invent new substyles. Bittersweet and creepycute are stupid.
I hate wa/qi lolita, it ALWAYS looks bad. Always. No exceptions. The gyaru look so cute when they wear kimono/yukata etc, because they don't gyaru-fy it beyond their hair style and make-up, and perhaps the print. They don't change the basic shape. Applying a lolita shape to traditional Asian dress just doesn't look right.
>Trends you like
The new princessy sweet! I love a lot of the non-print coords AP posts with all the metallic and pearl detailing, it's gorgeous. I saw somebody call it "hime sweet" but I don't know if that's somebody being stupid or its legitimate name. It's really pretty.
>Trends you would like to see come back
I would love to see more chiffon overlays. I know that trend is dead now, but its ever so pretty.
>Trends you predict will happen in the future
I'm expecting Classic to keep growing in popularity, despite the rapid wax and wane of the JetJ brand of OTT Classic that was briefly popular. I'm also expecting Gothic to rise again from the ashes. It's always been a popular staple but it's been shunted to the side through the OTT sweet years and now classic is taking centre stage. I think with the growing appreciation for a darker classic look, things will get distinctly more gothic in the coming years.
>Trends that are getting repetitive and need to die out
I am so fucking bored of deer antlers, fawn make-up, flower crowns and those clip on stars with every coord. I only got some of those stars recently, but I try to pick what to wear them with sensibly. For example, the gold one I have looks cute with the gold stars on DDC. The pink one looks cute with the star motif on Dream Sky. Just lobbing them onto everything doesn't always look the best in my opinion, though some people do it well.

I think the key to fandom lolita and to be able to do it right, is to make the coordinate out of already made lolita items. Just inspire the colour palette from the character and try to keep official motifs on the low. People who do fandom lolita seem to think it's the character's lolita coordinate if they wore lolita, rather than a coordinate inspired by a character. If the character's colour palette doesn't work with lolita at all and clashes all over the place, pick another character.

Maybe it's just my personal opinion, but does fandom lolita really have to be distinguishable just from looking at it? As long as you know what it is, and you can say what it is and people can see the connection. That's what I think.

Overly printed prints on top of prints with a side of printed prints. I do like prints, love them in fact, but printed tights, dress, bag, bow, everything can just be too much look.
That weird bow that mysteriously grows out of the belly button. They can look good with sweet but generally non AP ones look derpy and awkward (I am looking at you BTSSB)
overly huge flower crowns

>Trends you like:

I don't know if I predict, but I hope for:
jewel tones, more variety in fabrics, textures, brocades, embroidery, ribbon roses (please), longer lengths (sorry shorties), lots of lace detailing, a rise in ops with elbow length and longer sleeves, non prints with amazing detail and design may become just as coveted as their printed counterparts.
I also see a trend toward not having to fit a look into a predetermined style with a name (today I am wearing sweet pirate mori with a cpk twist, ugh). I don't care what you call it, as long as it looks great.
I predict more vintage elements creeping into classic and some backlash that classic is becoming too much its own creature and is no longer loli. few fucks will be given.

>Trends that are getting repetitive and need to die out:
I think the belly button bow is dying out. AP is somehow the only brand that makes them look right and they have been moving away from them in the past year in favor of cleaner lined and higher waistlines. I don't think that BTSSB will let it go any time soon though.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Like fancy meets, I usually just call them tea-parties/the official title if it's not a tea party, since it's a more formal gathering. OTT can be fine (as long as you don't have baby doll heads in your hair) in those cases. I'm talking more... Getting together for a small lunch or just essentially really casual things, though? Like 'we're here to eat food and shop around for a bit, why are you wearing a giant two-toned pastel wig, 12 petticoats, and a million rings?' It tends to look very costumey and it can be a bit off putting. Especially since those girls are the most likely to complain, "Ah, my wig's itchy/too heavy! My petticoats keep knocking things over!" etc. etc.
Meanwhile, everyone else is fine because they dressed for the occasion.
I don't know, maybe it's a personal bias of mine because OTT looks very costume-y to me.
(ps pic related, to give some context, this is what I picture when I hear OTT sweet.)

THIS. I quite like the subtle fandom lolita coords where they've just taken the colour palette and maybe small accessories or motifs but when it's something like the SnK uniforms done with frills and a skirt? Ugh. I'd like to see more fandom lolita outfits where it's the small subtle things that will make a fan notice what it's from but not go screamin around the place being all "LOOK AT ME I AM A LOLITA FROM -------- AM I KAWAII YET?"

>clip on stars
God damn you anon, I never noticed them until you pointed it out- now I see them fucking everywhere, it's like no coord is complete without a randomly placed star clip.

When I first got into the fashion four years ago, I was hooked on classic and old school sweet. Then I discovered OTT sweet last year, or rather grew to appreciate it more. Then I got hooked.

I've spent shit tonnes of money on OTT sweet accessories. Like hell I'm just going to throw them all away because some people think it's going out of fashion. I love OTT sweet.

Following fashion trend in such a niche fashion like lolita is totally stupid. As long as you do OTT well, do it and don't care.

>Trends you hate
Super infant-tier prints. AP, stawp. I want some elegant stuff. I also wish sweet in general would calm down.

>Trends you like
I actually like flower crowns and pastel goth in concept... I think they need better execution, but. Also, I love the use of bones and shit. Even skeleton tights, but I wish people would at least stop buying the very very cliche skeleton tights everyone else has. There are literally other skeleton tights with the same concept that look wayyyy better.

>Trends you would like to see come back
Old school. All old school. Especially gothic with the headdresses. I want maxi pad headdresses, idgaf if they look like pads. Gimme.

>Trends you predict will happen in the future
With the guro thread ( >>7340833 ) right now, I'm hoping guro lolita will happen... Like. GOOD guro lolita/horror lolita. I really like the ideas over there.

>Trends that are getting repetitive and need to die out
Pastel vomit.
