How do I get awesome luscious waves? This is a wig in the picture, but I've seen girls with hair done like this before and I'm not sure how it's done. I am trying to figure out my hair before a meetup this weekend, and wasn't sure where to find a tutorial. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Simple: just make 4 or 6 braids in your wet hair and wait it to dry.

Try putting your hair in braids when it's wet and sleeping in it.

Get your hair wet, put it in braids, then go to bed. That's pretty much it.

Thats so simple. Thanks!

People are saying do it with wet hair, but don't because you'll wake up with frizz. Dry your hair like 85% through & then run mousse through your hair before braiding it. & try doing fishtail braids instead of french braids

Look up "rhapsody" style wigs. There's a post from someone on Tumblr listing a bunch of places to get versions of this wig in different colours and lengths.

First place I saw the style was on Gabalnara's site. Then GLW. But you can find them all over TaoBao and eBay.

It depends on your hair type. It's actually much easier to do it wet and then use defrizzer on it when you get up.

Also fishtail braids will won't make it look as nice as if you do two or more regular braids, but never braid near the scalp for this or it will look bad.

If your hair is long enough, then you can just put it in a tight french braid after a shower and leave it over night. Once you take it out, just lightly run your fingers through your hair to get knots out. If you use a brush, then the waves will get pulled out. Of course it also depends on your hair type. Mine is naturally thin and straight, and it turned out like the pic attached.

Why can't this just be in the hair thread?

Wave hair iron. This is a more controlled way since I used to do the overnight wet hair method and sometimes when you move around in your sleep and crush your hair or something comes loose in the middle of the night, you're screwed.

>> No.7325485

If you're doing it on a wig:
- Separate wig into a couple sections and braid
- Pass hair iron over each braid a couple times
- Unbraid
- Waves!

If your hair is stubborn like mine and doesn't take too well to being styled use a wet set solution (I use one from Schwarzkopff) and tightly braid your hair. About 4-6 braids sections of braids will usually do it. Doing this with day old hair will work better like with most hair styling (since fresh washed hair will be way too soft) and if you do the braids the evening before you plan to go out with the style and give them about 12 or more hours tightly wound up and dried from the wet set, the waves will last quite a while.

If your hair ends up frizzy in some sections, use oil of morroco or something like that to just gently smooth down those areas (you don't want to use too much all over since that will relax your hair and get rid of the waves).

Pic attached is me after I did a couple of headbangs to really floof it up but if you just finger brush it out of the braids and then gently brush it out the waves are already quite thick. Then if you're worried about the waves not holding for the day, arrange it as you like and then spritz on some hair spray lightly.

Tell me more about this thing and what you know about it!

Because the hair threads are always over-saturated with hair dying questions

The product I use is called "Extra Care Curl Flex Cream" but there are several different wet set products from different brands.

Essentially what you do is dampen your hair (I dip my brush in water and brush it through the section of hair I'm styling) and then brush in a small amount of the cream until it's fully incorporated into that damp section.

For doing this style you then take that section of hair and braid it as tightly as you can, then tie it off. Repeat for the other sections of hair and then leave to dry overnight (or you can do it early in the morning if you're going at at night). Provided you use sturdy bands for tying off the braids, they shouldn't unravel during the night.

Would products like this work well for doing large curls, ringlets etc other styles? After I do any curling to my hair, it looks good for 15min and then turns back into flop

I've used it to do vintage hairstyles with large curls but it doesn't hold them as strongly as other products. Lottabody Texturizing Setting lotion is great for curls but I've had good results using some of Schwarzkopfs curling mousses. If you want to do thick, large bouncy curls a curling iron or heated rollers are a necessity from my experience. Even then I'd make sure to style on day old hair, do pincurls first and then sleep on them before styling them the next day and using hairspray before going out.

Essentially if you want lasting curls you can't do them last minute unless you have very thin and/or damaged hair, which is why it's a lot easier to do vintage hairstyles if you've dyed your hair.

Even after you've done pincurls for the night you'll need to spray your hair after styling to preserve them, and the more you fiddle with them and brush them, the faster they'll loosen and lose shape. If it's a particularly windy day they run at risk of loosening and if it rains get under cover because rain + unnatural curls = flattening within minutes.
