I really like this celes wig. The curls are so clean and the bangs are actually cut properly. The only critique I have is that I wish the ends of the wig were just a little bit cleaner.

Question for you guys.
What IS the right color for a Nanami wig? Because in some art her hair looks like a light brown with a slight pinkish hue, in some it looks more of a dusty rose color. Or would it really just be down to personal preference?

I would definitely say the skirt is beige. I have never seen an official art where her skirt appears yellow. I think it's more a case of lazy fabric choices/eBay costumes when cosplayers of her have yellow skirts.

A few months back someone made an average of the colours from a bunch of different shots of Nanami. Something like a dusty roseish lavender grey was the result.

The skirt is pretty beigeish tan, but because Cifera made her skirt a darker tan instead to suit her skin tone/body shape (understandably so) a lot of people used her cosplay as a reference and used dark tan.

My gripe is even though her pigtails are big, all the wig makers put the weird short layer in the pigtails which isn't right. Her hair has poof yet not really layers.

The only way I'd know to make it work would be with a fine-textured human hair wig or a bunch of extensions. You'd have to tease the ponytails and use really thick elastics for support; from my knowledge you can't really tease synthetic hair without really damaging it. Still, it'd take some mad teasing skills to hide the rat's nest it'd create.

My Chihiro just came in. It's a little on the tight side in the shirt all around and only in the sleeves on the jacket, but oh well~ I'll know for next time to give a couple cm when sending my measurements. It's actually made quite well. I was surprised!

I actually just finished one and it isn't too hard once you get the hang of it. One thing I will recommend is if you're going with the packing tape method, work in sections. Like, cut 35in of wire, tape it, repeat and THEN tape them all into one piece. It'll save you a lot of struggle. Also masking tape is less...slick? than packing tape and has a better grip so the glue will keep the hair on. Kinda like how you score clay. Also, the method I found that works is: you glue the weft down at the track, wait for that to dry so you're not pulling it off when you comb, and then comb it and spread the hairs flat on the tape. Use hairspray to tack it all together, then lift that section, put some glue down in horizontal strips, and press lightly then spray down any stray hairs once it dries. And work in small sections. I think my limit was 3-4 inches of space and I used 30in wefts.
And for the top, curl AS YOU GO. it'll hold shape nicer and look less crunchy.

The skirt is actually loose on me a bit. And I'm not really sure how I could fix any of the other parts. It's the blouse and jacket that are sorta tight. The blouse over all is slightly tight, while the jacket is only tight in the sleeves and shoulders. I've realized that the jacket kinda looks better with the last button/clamp thing open, so I might just remove that one. It's not as tight with the button undone as well. As for my chest, there isn't much I could do since I do have pidgeon breast and I can't exactly hide that

Well, the issue isn't the hair not being tall enough, it's the curls being big and loose when they should be tight and tiny. I think it definitely needs more wefts to get that look.

It's those armsleeves and the skirt. You can tell it's too big at the hips and too tight at the waist, it's making you look huge over all- unless you're a bigger cosplayer, in which case you look pretty small. I can not tell what's going on under there to be completely honest.

I have a really weird body shape. My sides go straight down, and then I have some muffin top. My hips are also quite weirdly shaped.
Under the skirt there is like a layer of tulle or something and then another layer under that so the tulle doesn't irritate. It's so that I wouldn't need a petticoat I'm guessing. Maybe that's what's causing it to look awkward? I mean, if anything it sat on me awkwardly as well because the straps that attach to the skirt and sit on my shoulders were super duper loose, so I'll need to go in and shorten them. I have really long legs and a shorter torso. This is pretty much a "diagram" to better explain my body shape and how it all fit on me.

Thanks! I have looked into getting contacts; it would be my first pair, so I'm pretty hesitant and mostly trying to wait until I can afford to go to an eye doctor to make sure I can wear them. And I fucked up the makeup horribly today so I just kind of did my generic girl makeup, I'll be sure to improve on that.
I'll see if that helps the wig to look better at all. It might've been my hair clip pulling it back so far, actually. And it's a dusty rose color with a few light brown strands. It's very, very hard to photograph with what I have and have it come out the right color, it's a better color than my camera makes it appear to be.

I will admit, that is half the reason I chose to cosplay Nanami first. Partially because it was one of the easier ones, partially because I liked her, and partially because I knew it would flatter my figure fairly well.

Poster here, I can't tell if this would be a dumb question or not, but do you guys think Chihiro or Kirigiri would flatter a chubby cosplayer more?
I feel like the answer is obviously Kirigiri since she covers her midsection with her shirt, while Chihiro shows just about the whole skirt, and that would make a muffin top more obvious. YAH I actually styled the Mondo wig for my roommate and I absolutely hated every step of it. I struggled with how to style it properly because I couldn't figure out how to do it without it looking like I just smashed a curly wig together and stuck it on his head. And it was the last thing I had to do before the con, and I literally sat in the living and cried over it. It was my first time doing something like this and I can tell you, I don't look forward to ever doing it again.

So, which characters would you say are cosplayed the most? And of those which are usually done the best and/or the worst? Also, same question concerning the least cosplayed character.

Also, out of curiosity, any drama coming out of the fandom? Kind of trying to avoid the Tumblr fans, but I'm so curious as to what's been going on. I think Homestuck spoiled me a little since it was so big there was always SOMETHING stupid going on. I need my fix

I think Junko, Fukawa, and Asahina are done the most, and Nidai is done the least.

Gundam seems to be one of the most consistently well done imo, it seems like most people actually seem to recognize if he's too out of their league, amazingly. The worst is probably either Junko just because of the sheer number of bad ones or Sakura because she's just really hard to pull off.

Anyone got tips on how to do Tsumiki's hair, her bangs are a big concern of mine because of how uneven they are and that can easily look dumb but also her overall hair looking sort of like layers from the way it's styled.

I bought shoes that I thought were patent for Nanami, but when i brought acetone to them to remove the glossy finish and change the color, the acetone didn't work to strip the gloss! I'm assuming that they aren't the material I thought? The color is a bit too dull/dark of a pink for my tastes but considering the convention is this weekend I might have to suck it up with my perfectionism and bear it, if nobody here can help!
Does anyone have any advice? Or should I just go for it anyway?

Something that really has been bothering me though, is this:
Are there any good Komaeda cosplays? I either see decent cosplays with shitty wigs, shitty cosplays with good wigs, pig ugly people in ugly cosplays or nice looking people who would pull off a great Ko, but their costume and wig looks like shit. Not to mention all the shitty posing. I know Komaeda isn't exactly the most graceful character and is already pretty frumpy looking, but christ...

Perhaps since she's supposed to be a SHSL Gambler, as opposed to SHSL Lolita, she also has grand, gothic ideas about being a vampire. I like that the designers went with a more old-school look for her. I think it makes her interesting.

Nah, she seems like she gets a fair few cosplayers, but mostly by people who... shouldn't be cosplaying her, or just don't put effort into it at all. Her outfit is just really simple and stereotypical school girl, so it doesn't seem to attract the more quality cosplayers, in addition to the fact that, yeah she's not as popular as most characters, since she was in it for all of ten seconds.
Also, since her outfit is relatively simple, it helps a lot if you have the face/body type for her. Obviously, not something that is necessary, but just helps to keep that in mind.
Do the plaid on the skirt and don't make gigantic fucking "hairpins". Maybe it's just me, but it irritates me to no ends when I see Maizonos with hairclips 2 inches wide; even in the anime, the hair clips are fairly thin.
