both lapirin and anniilaugh are still doing homestuck. Anniina came in third IIRC at a competition in september with her Mindfang and lapirin wore this at the same con.

Wigs are almost (99.99%) mandatory for troll cosplay. Real hair isn't naturally dark or voluminous enough. Horns won't sit correctly on real hair. Terezi's bangs don't look like that. Real hair won't hold a style all day. Real hair needs to be styled the day the costume is worn.

Black hair is the darkest color. It has large amounts of eumelanin and is less dense than other hair colors. It can range from soft black to blue-black or jet-black.

For a short wig, I think it depends on your head size.

I have a fairly large noggin. I can get away with long wigs from China/Asia but for short wigs I have to go to Arda or a western seller.

If you want some ebay recommendations, I can give them, but for now I'm going to give you some arda wigs that I think would work.

Wigs are required for any cosplay, not just homestuck, which you should know if you frequented this board at all. Unless you are blessed with unnaturally thick hair, it's going to look sad and limp in cosplay.

As far as where to get one, it depends on how much you want to spend 'for fun'. If you make it the most expensive part, Arda or Epic are really great quality and they both have multiple short styles that wouldn't be too much work to trim bangs into for ~$30.
Or if you'd prefer something cheaper, just google 'blonde bob wig' and just check the seller's feedback on eBay. If you're still not sure about them, feel free to post asking for help choosing a wig after you've picked a couple!

I do however have to say that I do know some "legitimately" trans people (hrt etc) who still has "xTy" typed out in their descriptions. I understand if you are active through telling your personal story in trans rights activism but most of the time it just seems really odd to me. Especially if you want to present as agender or otherwisely with a fluid gender identity because though I have no problem with separating a binary trans persons gender and sex, this is a lot harder for nonbinary identities. Echoing cifera was a legend in terms of cosplay help (and still is on her new blog but outside of Homestuck), and that CBC also does offer sincere help when asked. Also agreeing that JJ is kind of unhelpful and actually pretty mean-spirited in a lot of replies to her asks.
