Not totally lolita related but CGL's my only current non-tomboy girl friend....

What does it mean to "get your nails done" exactly? Whats the difference between this phrase and a "manicure" if there is one?
Is it where they polish and sand down your nails, or is that the thing where they glue fake nails on?

I kinda wanna try getting some cute fake nails applied professionally first before I try the home kits. I work in food service which includes lots of movement but a lot of the girls at my place come to work with these pretty fake nails and I'm starting to recognise the importance of having pretty nails with a coord..

If all the stuff you ordered is at the warehouse they will send a quick invoice. Often they have inventory at the shops that needs to be sent to the shipping center. In this case it may take over a week to invoice. This way they do not invoice you then go "oops, sorry, it sold out while we weren't looking"

I made 2 orders. First was all blouses that were in the blouse sale. Then I added a coat. I got an invoice and a cancellation of the invoice (because they noticed the second order and will now combine them) but now I don't expect another invoice for a week since it looks like the coat needs to be sent in.

>> No.7291840

>>7291703
I think with some items they have to check the stock level (see if any stores have it, etc) before they can confirm your order, hence why takes longer for some people to get a reply even if they placed their order quickly. Also remember they only work a few days a week. If you look at their calendar (it's on the international order shopping guide page), they won't be back in until the 16th and by then they'll have a huge backlog of mail to get through.

I got lucky and was invoiced fast this time, but in the past I've had to wait a week or more, usually not getting my items until a month after ordering. They are really slow during sales.

>>7291790
They usually send a regular email in addition to the PayPal invoice saying "Hi, this is Innocent World, we invoiced you", so if you receive their other emails without trouble I don't think you'll need to worry about missing your invoice.

>> No.7291938

>>7291517
I'm in the same boat. I build muscle fast when I work out or do physical activities. But there's still about 20lbs of chub I'd like to lose. My arms end up looking giant... even just from my work, so not lifting won't help, I have to lift. Even though they're mostly muscle that bit of fat (and possibly loose skin) makes them look huge. Then combine that with a large bust and I look very overweight even though I'm 5lbs overweight and 15-20 away from the ideal for my height/frame.

That said, unless it's arms or legs, lolita hides most of it. Most poses don't involve flexing either.

I bought a dress from infanta, and it stands up pretty well on its own, but putting a petti on makes it look odd. It's the right shape of petti, it's just like there's not enough room for it under the skirt.

What do?

I don't want to ita up by not wearing a petti if I should, but it doesn't really seem like the dress needs it. It's also classic, so I feel like it's a bit less necessary to have all the pood like sweet needs?

>>7292080
It is. I have a not-so-poofy dance petti from a few years ago, but even that looks odd under it.

I think it really looks alright, the back poofs out nicely and the front stays relatively flat, so it doesn't have that awkward look you get with too much petti. I mean, even my good petti is kind of crappy, I bought it off of ebay, and I usually layer them to accumulate one good petti's worth of poof. I had to wear three of them to make another dress look nice, but this thing really can't accommodate anything, despite there being extra fabric in those weird pleat things.

The second pic is kind of blurry and the lighting isn't so great overall, but you can kind of see it here. When you put a petti under it (despite being the right shape) it looks like you just threw a cupcake petti on it or something, and the fabric lays a little funny. Maybe just bloomers would provide enough support?

I guess because the dress doesn't scream "lolita," it doesn't look so bad without the petti.

>> No.7292112

I think it makes a cute casual dress anon, so don't worry too much. I think you're right and there's just not enough room for a petti. If you really want one, maybe you could try using a very light a-line petti?

So I hardly ever get to dress up, I am a lone lolita there is no community within 4+ hours by car- which I don't have.

I've built up a decent sized wardrobe that I am very proud of.

But then sometimes- usually when I'm stressed out I'll look at it and wonder wtf I am doing. Why am I spending so much money on things I never get to wear.

I've just spent a large sum on money on more items and as much as I love all the items I have purchased I feel like I've wasted so much money, half of my closet I've never worn.

I feel like I should sell at least some of my wardrobe, but I can't bare to part with anything.

Part of me feels like I should just sell most of it, Save the money and build it back up when I am actually able to dress up more then once every two months for an hour.

Honestly, I find lolita hides my muscles really well and balances things out. I can't wear things like strapless dresses without looking seriously disproportionate as I have a small torso and my shoulders and arms are proportionally big-looking due to sports/weights rather than that being my natural shape - they used to be quite narrow/small in my teens. I don't think my arms are "fat" though since I've had people ask how I get them so toned rather than being like "OMG your arms are huge". I'm also pear shaped with cyclist's calves and pretty chunky thighs. Lolita makes me look petite and cute rather than athletic, since my torso is the only bit of me that has "fitted" clothing and the rest is all puff sleeves and petticoats, and since my calves taper in my legs don't look so huge.

>>7292536
You don't have to dress up for anyone if you don't want to! Just wear the clothes around casually in the house if it makes you happy - I used to throw an entire outfit on (apart from shoes) just to sit and play games on my flatmate's PS3

I dunno how common this is, but I find it sort of gross. It's related to wearing wigs.

I wash my hair every other to every day. I also wash my wigs about every four to five times I use them. I also toss my wigcaps in the wash.

When I wear wigs for a long period of time, I find I get blemishes at my hairline, but usually I'm not prone to spots so this is kind of strange to me. Is there anything I can do to stop this because it gets really sore and I can't wear a wig the following day or so.

>> No.7292669

>>7292660
It's probably because when you wear a wig you're covering that part of your forehead/scalp with non-breathable material which leads to your head getting warmer and sweat, sebum etc. building up. I want to get my bangs cut with the sideburn things on the side, but I can't find an accurate picture to show my hairstylist.

Someone posted a picture of a girl on a beach with above hairstyle like a week ago but I can't find it anymore

Depends on your body type. If your bust and waist fall at least below 3-5 cm below max measurements, you're fine.

I tried to bid on an item with Japonica, and I'm a little bit confused as to what's going on. They sent me this: "hi !

and we made a bid with another Mbok ID "mecha".
please understanding it.

*** in case of overlapped bid request, we accept with the fair rule.'

I asked if that meant that my bid wouldn't count at all and if the other person's bid was higher than mine, as apparently (it says this on their site) they will still bid on an item even if another person has provided that your bid is higher.

They then said:

hi !

>if the seller has her ass covered
it's your fault for not reading t&c

>if the seller never mentioned it
tell her she didn't mention it, and the amount you agreed upon for shipping was $____. no need to explain that shipping was pricey for an inexpensive item, that's not the focus point, the problem is that she did NOT mention the shipping was merely a quote, and remain your stance that the amount agreed upon was ___. if the seller is nice enough and sorry about it maybe you can offer to pay half the difference. otherwise she really has no case. if she's a bitch and tries to guilt-trip you or turn passive aggressive, tell her you sorted your finances carefully in advance, and you've spent all your lolita money for the next two months and you can't afford to spend any more at all, since what you paid for was well within your spending means in the first place.

lucycorsetry is one of the best corset blogs out there. I would recommend her, especially as she provides a good balanced introduction to corsetry.
Shapewear depends on how squishy you are. From personal experience, I can get my waist down 1-2" in Vedette's high compression latex stuff.

If you're doing this solely to fit garments, shapewear is probably a better option than corseting as the bulk of a corset is significant compared to that of shapewear due to the boning and structure, plus the sort of shapewear you can get for $50 is a lot better than the sort of corset you can get for $50

If you're short waisted, the Baby corset from What Katie Did will probably be the best underbust corset for you short of custom-made since it's only designed to compress the waist. Depending on your hips, you may not have enough hip spring to fill out the bottom of the corset, but it's seriously amazing - the first time I tried it on, I went for the 18" (my natural waist is 24-25") and was quite happily corseted down to about 21" and that was just trying it on, hadn't even seasoned it or anything. Also, I recommend staying well away from corset-story - most of their underbusts are quite tubular and will probably be too long for you. Again, lucycorsetry has some good recommendations.

I would say this goes beyond the level of an allover/border candy print. There are not only artistic but also design elements that are exactly the same here. Not only is the name in the same area with the same scroll-like design, the font is even the same, for example.
Generally when brands release similar things, the art style is at least unique. Hell, even the berries on my strawberry dress from Baby looks different than the strawberries on my AP.
This dress not only took the shape and construction elements of the KL piece (comparing it to the KL OP would have been better), but also is shown using the same lace, same color scheme, and same ghost-like style for the fish.

cheap anon here

Sad part is that I was willing to pay the full price or even a bit more, but I just cant resist to haggle everytime.

The seller just came out of nowhere telling me someone already said that will pay full price and if that buyer doesnt confirm I could get the dress for a discount.

I mean I messaged seller first, and seller never told me he wasnt willing to give me any discount, so I could just go ahead and pay full price. Seller just told me another person will be buying. Thats rude.

B-but I had the money, Seller, I wanted that dress.

>> No.7299159

>>7299149
I know you're disappointed, but it's pretty standard procedure for the first person willing to pay full asking price to get the item. If you offer less than the asking price, then the seller assumes that is the maximum you're willing to pay and they'd rather quickly sell it to the other person than waste time messaging back and forth with you about prices.

Now if seller had already accepted your offer and agreed to send an invoice *then* it would be rude of them to give the item to another person, but they didn't do anything wrong in your case and even were polite enough to tell you that they'd take your offer if the other buyer flaked out.
In the future if you really want something, just pony up the cash in the first place.

This is only slightly lolita related, but I need to get this feel out. I've only dated one guy who liked lolita and he dumped me a long time ago for reasons, but I always had a special place in my heart for him. He was my prince. He'd match his tie with my dress and come to meets with me. Lately he started texting me a lot and liking really old photos of me on FB, and I got so fucking excited. Now he's stopped texting and is posting photos with this hipster tumblr looking girl on instagram. She's very pretty, and I hope he's happy, but I wish he never started talking to me again in the first place. I was happy being a lone lolita and he had to remind me of what I'm missing out on. I have a question about bidding on mbok with Japonica.
Yesterday I sent them an email requesting that they make an instant bid on an item for me. I set my bid around 12,000 yen. I paid the invoice, and they bid shortly thereafter. I was given the mbok ID name under which my bids would be placed. Let's just say it's "fishsticks."
This morning, I noticed that the price of the item was up ~1000 yen. I began to write them that I had been outbid and would like to increase my bid, but while looking at the bid history, realized that someone else had upped the bid by ~500 yen and then "fishsticks" had again bid, meaning I was the highest bidder.

I emailed them still to increase my max bid in case the price went higher, but I've received no response.
Is there a chance that someone else is bidding with Japonica on the same item? Or is Japonica just upping my bid for me?
