I want to make a big ball gown cosplay. In more than 10 years of cosplaying I've never made a huge ball gown. It's something that is missing from my current portfolio and skill repertoire.

Problem is, I can't think of any characters that I'd like to do that have a ball gown. I'm not into Disney or princesses in general. I like strong female characters, which generally don't overlap with huge dresses. I'm also more into video games than animu. That doesn't help my search for a ball gown either.

Can we have a ball gown thread? Both finished cosplays and characters?

If you're into scifi at all, Kaylee from Firefly wears a big ass ballgown in the episode, "Shindig." She's a pretty awesome character, and serves as ship's mechanic in the series. The dress itself isn't the prettiest thing on earth, but it might be an interesting construction challenge.

Well they might fuck her up in the next Dragon Age game but Morrigan is a tough bitch and they have her in a big dress.

If you into video games your going to have to look to Jrpgs.

I only have Yukari references because that's what I was interested in but if you search "touhouvania" and "komajou densetsu II" you can pretty easily find stuff. Pic related, there are design sheets for all of them. It's harder to find references for Komajou Densetsu than it is for the second one.

If you are interested in a specific girl, the are (from left to right):

Cosplaying characters in massive ball gowns is so much fun! I'd never worn a big dress requiring a petticoat/hoop skirt before cosplaying the ball gown from Labyrinth and it was great. So 80s and over the top. Dem sleeves.
