I used nylon for years, then ordered mesh by mistake. Now I can say I use them both equally. They're cheap, anon, so just buy one of each and see what you like.

I think long hair stays up better in mesh, though.

>> No.7292773

>>7292745
I don't really buy wig caps anymore as wigs I've bought have come with them for free so I've built quite a collection.

That said, I used to use the nylon type but I find the mesh ones to be more comfortable as they allow for more airflow keeping your head a bit cooler. The other nice thing is that with the open top, you just pull it completely over your head and down around your neck like a necklace, then pull it up. That way the cap catches all the short pieces of hair you'd normally spend time tucking into a closed top wig cap. Just makes things a bit quicker for me. I also found that the mesh type tends to stay in place better than the nylon type because the large weave will conform easier but it's really a matter of preference.

>> No.7292786

>>7292745
I've used nylon for awhile but I absolutely hate it since even with pins holding it down it slips everywhere. Maybe it's just because my hair is long and heavy though.

I'm waiting for a couple wigs I bought to come in, and hopefully one of them has a mesh cap so I can try that out.

The new wigs from Cosworx are pretty bad. I got a wig from one of their sales and shipping took at least two weeks and I got no response from their customer service despite trying both the phone line and email. When I finally got the wig, it was shiny. It was also apparently a color blend and the streaks were pretty obvious, despite no mention of a blend on the color description. They also don't sell matching wefts, so when you part that wig down the center, the wefts of the wig will be visible and you'll have to order a second wig and frankenstein two wigs together.
For Anna's wig, I'd go with Epic Cosplay. Their wigs are really thick and they sell wefts in every color. Arda could be good, too, but their Leia is too big for most people and a lot of their wigs have short, frizzy fibers for volume that can be a bitch to style over.

I bought this (http://lucaille.com/?product-887.html)) lavenderish brown wig from Lucaille, but it turned out to be so much browner in real life. Which wig is better for this character?

The first one Is fuller and I can use hair from the big ponytails and add it to the base wigs to get that hairstyle easier. However it leans more towards Miku Blue than Ice Blue like the character. It also have the right length on the pigtails.

The second one is more accurate in color I think, but it's a bit shorter than I would like it to be, and it seems like the hair in the pigtails are in different lengths as well...

Both of them would of course need to be straighten out in the pigtails to work, I'm mostly debating wether I should go for length accuracy or color accuracy most...

I'm going to cosplay Uryuu Minene from Mirai Nikki at some point this year, and it's going to be my first investment in a high quality wig, so I have no idea what I'm doing.

I was between ordering from Epic Cosplay and Arda, but I've heard Epic's wigs are generally thinner at the top and a lot shinier in pics, but they tangle less, while Arda's are a lot nicer all around, but can tangle like mad (even if they're easy to finger comb).

I'm interested in the same thing you are anon. I've been searching on google all day looking for a tutorial that would fit this but all I'm finding is stuff on stubbing which I don't want to do.

My plan is to get arda's blue steele, two long ponytail clips and some extra hair wefts. Is there a way to install foam core into a clip in ponytail?

I was hoping to be able to modify some clip in ponytails so that way when I travel with the wig it can easily be disassembled. I know they'd be super heavy but I've heard about this headband technique that allows heavy ponytails sit on your head better. I'm going to look more into that soon.

Totally jealous - I want a qt boyfriend willing to dress up as Zoro too - but looking forward to pics of you guys!

As for his wig, I would probably pick a base wig in a color you liked and do something similar to pic related (sorry I had to shrink it - the resolution was too large to upload as was; it's by malindachan if you wanna look it up for yourself!). I've used the tutorial before - pretty simple, just gets kind of messy with all the loose hair. Use a drop cloth when you work on it and maybe keep a bowl of water with you to eliminate stickiness/hair messes.

Good luck!

I've been wearing a wig everyday for about 2 months and though I mostly keep quiet about it, I won't lie if people ask if it's my real hair or not (usually they can't tell unless they touch it, but ffs KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF). Most annoying shit I've had said to me include:

- "I miss your real hair...it's so weird, like, I could just rip off your wig so easily."
- "Is that your real hair?" No. "Did you shave your head??" No... Where's your hair then?" Underneath... "Can you take it off?" (bitch it's the middle of class.) No.
- "When are you going to stop wearing wigs anon?" Whenever I feel like it. "What does [crush's name think about it?" ...
- "That's so weird, you're wearing another person's hair on your head." (you think I'd be wearing synthetic if I could afford human hair?)

This is so grating that I'm just going to stop wearing wigs as soon as I can my bleach my hair blonde. I'm happy to talk and provide more information if a person was interested in trying them, but people just want to play 20 questions instead. You'd think "because I like them" would be an acceptable answer as to why I wear wigs but no. No one bats an eyelash at extensions but add a fake scalp and normalfags lose their goddamn minds.
Sorry for buttmad ranting. What are everyone else's experiences in adding wigs to their everyday life? Has the response been positive or negative? Have any weird/funny/annoying stories and quotes to tell?

Your character image has little sideburns. You should try and replicate them to cover your own.

Use some gel, caulk, or the felt fabric method to make them and then use a little eyelash glue or spirit gum to glue them to the side of your face to keep them in place.

Just be delicate with making them. They aren't a giant clump of hair.

Purchased this wig for Lulu from League of Legends default version. Bought the dark purple heat resistant curly wig from CosplayDNA. As far as quality goes, it does tangle at all from what I can tell, i brushed out all the curls into waves and didnt tangle one bit. It seems to be a bit on the thin side and the only two drawbacks I have for the wig is when they shipped it to me it didnt have any paper in the crown in packaging, so theres a crease in the top of the cap. Annnnd the color is a little too dark, so that was my bad.

Anywho, I brushed out the curls and the right side of the wig in the front straightened out a bit too much. Attempted to recurl using a curling iron and it actually straightened it more. Anyone have any tips I can do to make the front part a bit more wavy? As is it just looks a bit weird with one side wavy and the other straight.

Some people act really freaked out at the idea of someone who's not bald wearing wigs, but most people are kind of okay with it. If you wear "natural" wigs (they tend not to look 100% natural like that's your natural colour, but like dyed hair) people in the street will ignore it and assume it's dyed hair. Your friends will get used to it. "Natural" doesn't have to mean natural colours either - commonly dyed colours like dark red/burgundy seem to work too, people just assume it's dyed.

You may want to use clip in extensions for the bangs. I have sewn wefts into the tops of wigs several times now and it is difficult to get it to look "natural", plus its a pain in the hand to sew through any form of skin top.

I think you're right in that you may need to dye your own split wig. If you do, after parting it down the middle, pin plastic wrap down the entire middle, and use it to cover the part of the wig you don't want dyed. We did this when dyeing a Rainbow Dash wig and it worked great to keep the colour from spreading.

This looks like a fun wig to make, anon. I'd love to try it but I have no reason to. Good luck!

You could splice two wigs together. If you do, I would take some wefts from the discarded blonde half and dye them for the color stripes, then sew that in on the wig. I would also dye the brown part that would be under the colored wefts to match. It will be darker but it will help the colors on top be bold and not have brown peeking out from under them. I don't know if this makes any sense because I should be asleep right now, but hopefully it is of some help. If my explanation is confusing I could try drawing what I mean, that might make more sense, let me know.

It depends, do you plan on wearing it for every day life, or for a cosplay?

Real wear wise, I know a lot of people that swear by Airily.jp
>http://airily.jp/shop/default.aspx

They're expensive, but every day wear wigs are usually $60+ if you want them to look realistic. (A lot of people tend to freak out at the $50+, but my mom is a cancer patient who's going through chemo and lost her hair, and all of her wigs are $500+. So $60~$100 isn't bad for a nice wig.)

Cosplay wise, here is a list of recommended stores;
http://stopfuckingcosplaying.tumblr.com/post/11956356343/list-of-stores-to-buy-wigs-from-ebay

Usually I just type in on ebay's search what I want, find a wig from a best seller that has 99%< rating and buy from them. Remember if you find a long wig for $15-$20, more than likely it's not going to be high quality.

With the wig you linked, it might not be too bad though seeing as, from the looks of it, the lacefront won't be visible anyway if you brush the bangs down.

I don't really want to buy a one piece twin-tailed wig because then I wouldn't be able to really adjust the ponytails if I can't fit the hat on comfortably. But her hair is parted in the back and I'm not sure how I would be able to achieve that with a short wig which would come with clip-in ponytails. The problem you're going to run into with anything foam core inside of a clip is that the weight of the hair pieces is going to cause them to sag and fall downward.

If you're going to use the clips, I'd recommend a bit further up the clip add a second anchor you can attach to the wig and the clip to keep them upright as well as secured to the wig? Maybe a second clip, some strong magnets or even just a heavy comb.

If you used foam core for the thick base uptop and wound a wire/interfacing/tape base around the end tapering down, you could hypothetically pull off the dramatic ringlets she has with minimum hassle. (Ontop of the wire in the curls, you'd probably want some fishing line running down the length of them keeping them up, but I suppose that depends on the gauge of wire you get.)

Hope this helps.

The most annoying thing is lucaille has about the perfect color, but it either comes in a very short wig, or this one (on the left) which isn't really suitable for re-styling. Ah, yeah, I'm sorry; I'll try to explain it further.

We're getting two wigs, his will be in Cobalt Blue and mine will be in Silver. We want to be able to replicate the little tufts of hair on the Pokemon through different coloured bangs; his will be Silver, mine will be in Cobalt Blue.

However, Arda only has clip on bangs available in Silver - Cobalt Blue is available in wefts. In the case that an existing suggestion on Arda's forum for Cobalt Blue clip on bangs doesn't get accepted, I wanted to know the best way to use the wefts to create bangs. We want to make sure all the blues match, and need to have the wigs prior to starting the rest of the costumes.

Cut the white wefts short and sew in the blue ones. But with the shape of the bangs, you could feasibly sew the wefts into a seperate hair piece that clips on to your wig.

I'm looking for a wig like the one anon mentioned as well.
Would getting a light pink wig and carefully adding in med length dark pink extensions work, because that's also an idea I had, or would that look too unnatural?

Ahh thanks you two! the arda one doesn't seem like it will style the way I want it to unfortunately but you are correct about the color!

Anyways, I think I found the perfect one! I will just remove the ponytails and use the wefts for even more poof. Still might get two though. Opinions please? I think this will work just right but I value others thoughts on the matter.

So I'm planning a pretty simple cosplay of Ageha from Wizard Barristers, but I'm not entirely sure of what type of wig to get (second time buying a wig). If I were to get a right wig, I would also have to figure out what I could do to get those pigtails to stay 'poofy'.
Help please?

You would probably have to tease it a bit on the inside while keeping the outside smooth. you could also add more wefts and such

Is the pony tail on the wig too thin for this character?

>> No.7339865

>>7339848
You're not going to be able to go much thicker than that without a) making a clipon out of an entire wig or b) making yourself miserable with a wig that's far too heavy. That one looks realistic, go for it.

Lucaille's stocking wig. It's 120cm long and the color is beautiful. My friends and I bought that wig. Very nice and it shows up well in pictures.
<-- Can anyone tell me which character I can cosplay with this wig? It used to be a lolita wig with a long base and curls but I had it cut after a while because it was too generic and I wanted to experiment.

If it helps I'm 5'4 and have a medium build (54kg). No loli characters please. I dont believe I can pull those off. ;_;

Is there an easy way to untangle an curly/wavy wig? and keep the curls the way they are? or would I have to restyle them? I can't remember if I can use heat on it or not ): it's an old coplay wig that I haven't used in a while

To make the ponytail look thicker you could use the foam core method but that's permanent, but you can the illusion of crazy volume.

>> No.7340741

>>7340529
Ah, so something like Kukkii's tutorial:

http://www.cosplay.com/photo/2531977/

Thank you. It seems I have some thinking to do. That is the only tutorial on foamcore that I found, so I'm not sure if there is another method out there.

I also stumbled upon this:
http://classewig.com/wig/blog/?p=1343#more-1343

But it seems too... No idea. Just doesn't seem like it will work for a longer wig, and gives short layers on top...plus I doubt it will be thick enough doing that. Posting it anyway because It might help *somebody*.

Thanks again!

Possibly a weird question, but has anybody ordered from Mintymix at all lately? I was debating ordering one of her wigs finally, but it looks like the site hasn't been touched since I found it a few years ago. I don't want to end up ordering a wig and then waiting forever to not get anything.

Otherwise, what are good places to get multicolor wigs besides Lockshop, Mintymix, and Arda that isn't GLW?

I used wires and hair spray + a little göt2be gel for mine when I did America from Hetalia. It holds up great. I sewed the wire into the cap for a sturdy base.

>> No.7341962

>>7341948
Basically you take a wire and use a lock from the wig as wefts to put over it. It's not difficult at all.

So, this is the only wig I can find with the shade of purple that I want. Every other 'light purple' seems too dark in the picture and I'm almost sure that it'll be even darker/brighter when it gets here. I'm wondering:
How much will it take to get the fibers that will come done in the braid to be straight like the rest of the wig?

Hello, complete newfag here, so please dont be too mad if this question is stupid!

After watching the Great Gatsby (yes...) I fell in love with Daisys hairstyle, a cute short bob and a kinda curled front bit? idk; pic related. I wanted to do a Great Gatsby themed outfit with my friends for Karneval, but I dont want to cut my hair short, and it is too long to do any kind of fake bob hair style. So the solution for me seems to be a wig.

So I have never bought a wig before, and none of my friends is into cosplay, so I have no one irl with experience to ask and no real idea where to buy from.

So, seagulls, any suggestions where I can buy a short bob wig like in pic related (the back can be a little bit longer though) in brown? It should be as natural looking as possible.

Thanks in Advance!

use the boiling water method. look up "straightening a curly wig" and there should be plenty of youtube vids on how to do it.

I'm looking for a wig for my Juri cosplay and found these two:

http://arda-wigs.com/products/chibi
http://www.epiccosplay.com/black-curly-prestyled-pigtail.html

I really like the look of Arda's because it has longer side bangs and seems to have more pigtail hair. The only thing I'm worried about is that my head is 22" and I have shoulder length hair so it may be too big. I haven't tried wigs from either of these sites before, but those cheap ebay/halloween costume wigs tend to fit me well. Would I be able to get away with Arda's or should I buy the smaller one from Epic Cosplay (probably with some extra wefts)?
