Quick question Lolitas (also might be a dumb question)
I understand that some outfits surround themes, like chocolate, ducks, biscuits, etc. For outfits that center around pianos, violins, and the like...do you all expect the girl who might be wearing such a music themed outfit to be able to play said instument? Is it like in cosplay where if you haven't watched/played it, its frowned upon? Or is it more forgiving and if you like the print, its ok to wear it?

(Pic unrelated, I'm on my phone and its the only photo I have...)

>> No.7286768

I don't think so, unless the girl is posing with an instrument that matches the print (but that applies to anyone posing with an instrument).

It's like if you have a coord centered around cats but you've never owned a cat. Doesn't matter.

it's okay if you can't play the instrument, and it's fine if you want to pose with the instrument, but please research on the proper way of holding it first. otherwise it looks weird. next time just use lolita general, but let's do a music theme lolita thread!

This dress has been my dream since I first started looking at lolita.

Unfortunately every time I find it, I don't have the money.

Sometime I wanna see a lolita posing with a sousaphone.

They don't have to play it, just enjoy it.
It is not required to be a ballet dancer to wear a ballet themed dress. Just like it and think it is pretty. I have dresses with flowers on them but have never been a plant

Why not commission a seamstress? This would be pretty simple and you could just get a quote and save up that amount.

I'm musically challenged to be honest, but I really want to plan a musical coord for when I see Eric Whitacre in March. He is my modern composer hero; I wish I was good enough to audition for virtual choir.

Can we have a music themed lolita thread for inspiration?

Ugh yes, this.

I have to admit, I did once pose with a violin, and while I wasn't holding it wrong, per se (my roommate at the time was a violinist) when she looked at the pictures later she said my positioning was really bad. Ah well.

I actually do play several instruments myself, but violin wasn't one of them. I guess if I ever do it again I'll stick with my actual instruments...

what really ticks me off is when people posing/modeling for violin prints, or any piece for that matter holds the violin completely wrong. and not just like maybe your cowhand is a little wonky, or the violin is poking forward a little, but when that shit is straight out, and the model is grabbing the bow like she would grab a dick. just no.
sage for no contriboot.

this! if you pose with a violin, get the posture right, or don't! don't hold the part of the bow with the bow hair...the angle of your upper arm should be parallel to the bow. and you have to pull the bow straight against the string! don't do it crooked! also you can't play the violin if your bow is on the fingerboard, it has to be at that spot near bridge.

if this is all too complicated, just hold the neck of the violin as if you're a violinist taking a break from playing.
