The crossing straps attach to the waistband, yes. Typically, they have buttons on the inside of the waistband, and button holes on the shoulder straps, so you can put it on more easily. As for the bow, use this video:

This is how lolita waist ties are tied, but the apron bows are done the same way, with more length/wider fabric to get that shape.

I have the bunny one in the middle, it's pretty good thick polyester fabric, the bunny tail is pinned on and is removable.

The dress is just a black onepiece with the middle frill part going down randomly so it looks weird if you don't have the apron on though.

I made an apron exactly like this but without the heart bit on top, with the noob-est skills ever (ie i've only made bows and 1 plainass lolita skirt). I just cut a semi circle, made a whole load of ruffles an attatched, then attached the waist band.

Friend bought the bunny one it was pretty cute irl. I bought the cat one and it's one of the most popular designs I think. I have a problem with the sleeves since they keep falling down on me but i found if you adjust them and shorten from the back it'd be fine. Though I am 5"2? There's a tendency that since the bell isn't detachable the button will scratch the paint off the bell. Also it's best to reinforce the buttons when you buy them since I've lost some in the wash or at cons. It comes with 2 extra buttons that are attached to the inner tag though! The socks that come with it are fine and also jingle. Though I had a problem where one of the socks was tighter than the other. Best to wear a nice fluffy petticoat with it in my opinion. This maid outfit is also great for middle heavy girls to hide their bellies :P

I also don't like them as a company (using 4chan to force memes and make their shitty t-shirts) and their shipping is really shitty.

Anyways, when buying a meido you really have to think about why you want one. Do you want to look like a slutty, cute animu or someone working in a maid cafe. Do you want to wear it often, or only once in a long long while.

Personally I have a lot of meido some from cheaper sites bodyline and joybank and one really fancy one from milky ange. While I simply love the look for cons, my boyfriend is also into maids, but I would never wear my milky ange for that kind of thing, just like I'd never wear one that I use for fetish purposes to a con or out and about.

Pic related are all the meido I have, top list is more sexy/revealing varieties and bottom are my cuter/fantasy ones. I'd be happy to give reviews on any of them if desired.

Sure, it might work out by some stroke of luck, but regardless of its profit margin it was a really unsafe gamble to take by opening it in the first place.

I have pic related in this exact color from bodyline and I think it actually looks better in real life than it does on this picture. It's a soft polyester (obviously not as nice as cotton but it's not bad either) and decent construction. It's hard to put on, though (buttons are decorative, you only have those annoying zippers on the side that don't open all the way... a back zipper would've been better), and is a bit short on me overall (but, hey, I'm 5'7").

I have no idea how it fits or how it looks on me since my ED won't let me but in the hanger it looks nice.

Completely agree. Although with the right staff, food, and proper placement, it could be successful but for different reasons. The otaku here are much more entitled and bitter than the horribly socially awkward ones in Japan. Instead of appreciating the company of cute maids (and maybe fap when they get home), they'd ask for numbers, dates, shift hours and just be creepy in general. Of course, some guys in Japan do that as well but not as much.

I'm going to NYCC this year (first con). I want to check it out first before I cosplay so I was thinking about wearing this bunny themed maid outfit. If you can find somebody to get it from, Emily is a quite decent brand that's not crazy expensive and has great quality. You're looking at more of a $100 range with their stuff, maybe a little less now that the yen isn't so bad.

The @home ones are actually from the Emily brand I mentioned, very hard to find though. They had them for sale at the Don Quixote in Akiba (which has an @home inside it) last time I was there. Not sure if the ones you can buy from them are identical to the real uniforms or slightly different but they're so similar that it doesn't matter. (Might be a slight difference in button or trim colors etc.)

Unfortunately it's quite hard to find them outside Japan now. There used to be a US importer but they vanished. Anime Jungle in LA has a few of their costumes and maybe they could order more, or you could use a shopping service/proxy to order I suppose.
