You actually LIKE the look of this? It looks like complete shit.

There was an anon that once mentioned something on the lines of: 'The more average the character's clothes are, the better the coord will be; superhero coords tend to look costumey because the colours in itself are already designed to look like a costume.'

I have a soft spot for character coords, personally, though I can see what some people loathe them with a fiery passion.

This would look like ass when translated to real life clothing too. The top of her head looks exotic and dramatic, like a headdress for an evening dinner. The chest jabot looks aristocratic. Then the rest of her looks like a terrible steampunk costume. The result is a confused ita mess. I think the real problem is that people who come into lolita through anime/comics/fandoms are too much into the drawings and don't really understand what real life fashion looks like.

I'm also tired of folks lolifying the fighting outfits for snk. No one is going to fight Titans in lolita. The colours of the Scouting Legion uniform are terrible for it anyway (that camel-coloured twill jacket). If you really must insist on making a lolita something from this series, it makes more sense to create a non canon background nobility character that proudly wears Wall Sina crest on her velvety lacey poofy dress and is accompanied by two Military Police bodyguards.

I kinda want to make the batman one, not gonna lie.

how bad will I be made fun of? I wouldn't go to a lolita gathering with it, maybe a comic/animu convention.

Lolita is not practical for fighting titans. You couldn't wear 3DMG in that.

I'm a lolita, and I also like this anime, and I fucking hate this look. Deciding to make this lolita and putting a skirt on it just ruins the cosplay it's based of off.
Don't fix what isn't broken, and this cosplay just needs to be kept in it's original form.

The only time I've seen it look good is when it didn't scream fandom/cosplay. A friend of mine has a batman themed skirt, but instead of shitty bed sheet fabric it's a simple crooked gate around the bottom with an opening that leads to Arkham Asylum. If you don't look super close it just looks like any old gate print that gothic brands have put out.

I have never seen fandom designs that aren't complete shit, god I wish we could stop these things from happening.
I remember seeing one attack on titan version made in real life and it was an absolute trainwreck.

I've worn this as cosplay, but I never called it lolita. just cosplay.

I think fandom lolita would look good if the colors matched and went well with lolita.

why sometimes its okay = the character fits the lolita aesthetic if they were humanized. Example: Chansey (and various cute pokemon), Kyuubey, Alice/white rabbit/queen of hearts, etc.


why its usually shit= it is lolita for the SAKE of being lolita. It is not interconnected whatsoever. Example: Attack on Titan, Superheroes, Homestuck.

Its alright when its obviously a cute themed outfit. Its very whatthefuck when some random ass show is made into lolita just so it can be called lolita. The big idea here is that its lolita not because its aesthetically pleasing to BE lolita, but just so that it IS lolita.

I've recently been trying to collect pictures of good fandom lolita. It can be done, but there are more good designs out there than actual coords. Really, I find the complete incompetence of most fandom "lolitas" pretty shocking. In theory a coord inspired by the Doctor shouldn't be that difficult, yet all 3000 or them are completely terrible.

There was a "best coord you saw this year" thread a couple weeks ago.
The OP picture was a Sailor Moon theme lolita in it.
Some people hated it cause it was a fandom coord. Some people liked it cause it was understated.

I wish I could find a pic. It was a good example of a fandom coord not being a hot mess.

Not going to get into the taste of the outfit but christ that anatomy is awful. Why do people that design these outfits start with such a poorly drawn frame. That girl's arms are way too short, her hands are claws, her tits are too low on her chest which looks even more awkward with the lopsided chest belt, the skirt starts at her hips which is not lolita, and then her legs are way too long.

Wow and I did the head to height and by three heads we're at her vagina. Over half her body is legs. Also an entire arm is the length of her thigh.

I did a Pinkie Pie costume from my lolita closet a few times, I enjoyed wearing it quite a bit.

I have seen a pretty cute lolita SnK crossover. It was more or less the outfit except with a frilly skirt, and frills on the cape. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Maybe I imagined it differently, oh well.

Weird thing, but I personally only like fandom lolita if the setting or character suited it. Things like SnK and the Hobbit really don't jive well with me - would the characters wear them? Probably not. Would it be practical for killing/fighting? Definitely not.

Thanks! Yeah, I always considered it a costume above lolita - I think the striped stockings are very Pinkie Pie, but I would never wear them for an actual coord.

I put this together during an 'off' year when I was saving up to move out so I didn't spend any money on costumes, so I just had to pull things from my closet and I realized that I had a pretty decent outfit for PP.

The Innocent World x Rozen Maiden crossover was lovely. If you're going to do a crossover I think it has to fit the aesthetic as >>7280690 said. Rozen Maiden is one such anime that fits lolita well.

Bad fandom Lolita is like bad fanfic - loud, garish, and full of terrible features which haven't been edited out for a more natural and smooth look. Also, both give fandom a bad name.

I don't see a problem with fandom loli if it's treated as more like lolita fancy dress and worn at cons or specific meets. It's a bit odd at a normal meet but I think it's a fun, creative outlet in the right setting.
