I'm posting ITT asking for some creative help.

I make clay food accessories and I've been in a real slump lately over lack of ideas, so I'm curious to know what kind of things would people like to see? Even any kind of clay accessories(not just foods) would be fine.

I was thinking about starting to make some outfit posts once in a while for my Tumblr and I was wondering, is this outfit still considered fairy kei enough to tag it as fairy kei?
I feel like it would need a skirt, but this hoodie was too long for a skirt so I couldn't have one in the outfit without it looking funny.
I feel like the top half is good enough but I'm not sure. Opinions?

>> No.7271109

>>7271106
I think it vaguely is but like you said it needs a skirt. I'm sure it would actually look more fairy kei if you had a tulle skirt with the parka bunched up a bit since it will add to the bagginess of the look. Add the skirt and a pair of cute sneakers and you'll be good to go.

Oh no really? I had never bought them before myself! Thanks for responding, I was thinking about getting some.

Because of gender roles probably, women are supposed to be pretty looking and taking it to an extreme like this is one way to express yourself. Also fairy kei is a Japanese fashion and being fake and out there like this is an affect of their plain society and way more unique and weird than fake.

Honestly it's less fake than it is dolled up, and they are probably being more true to themselves than people who draw inside the lines, so to speak.

Fairy kei is like pop kei except with more pastel colors instead of neons and usually with more 80's clothes and accessories like scrunchies, legwarmers, etc.
Fairy kei shirts and accessories usually have characters from 1980's and early 1990's cartoons and anime or characters that are drawn in an 80's style like the ones Milklim has on their clothes too! I hope I helped.

Dressing up weird doesn't change who you are, nor does it mean that you are hiding who you are: You should always be true to yourself and you should express yourself honestly if you can (just like the people in this thread are doing)

Idk that sweater is a bit too long to really wear a skirt with. But by contrasting color I mean something that is a very different color to the color of the sweater, say maybe if there's a small color detail that doesn't have a large presence in the overall design, a skirt of that small color could match very nicely. That way you still get a coherent outfit without it being too matchy matchy.

Also you don't need to have a tutu skirt for it to be fairykei! While it helps other full short skirts can work too~

You're obviously one of those people who have no idea what fairykei really is. Fairykei interpretation among foreigners is in what I like to refer to as the "ita" stage, there's not a lot of information about it because it's brand new and only just emerging and only a few people who are intensely immersed in it/know Japanese fairykei girls will know the ins and outs. In a few years time if fairykeis popularity lasts that long people will look back on these photos and say "gosh what was I thinking?"

These are the ones that I would not class as fairykei, I didn't include ones that were close but a bit iffy. That's not to say they aren't cute I just wouldn't call them fairykei.

Also by natural hair I mean using your natural hair instead of wigs, the color can be anything but generally wigs just don't match the petiteness of the style and tend to look either off or like overkill.

Too over the top. Too many accessories and overkill of kawaii motifs. Less is more, it looks better to have details like frills or bows than to have prints and motifs. Okay here's the first example! The colors coordinate nicely together without being too matchy and accessories are a minimum, but it's still very fairy and very cute. The "mokomoko" fabric of her collar is of course a very common fairykei aspect however as you can see it doesn't just have to be restricted to hair accessories! Also star, moon and heart motifs are very common.

(The girl on the left obviously lol)
Her outfit is very simple yet still fairy. And her hair is an unnatural color but is still her actual hair instead of a wig! This makes it a lot easier to make cute styles like side ponytails, buns, etc that you just can't do with wigs. (Without getting the awkward short wig with clip-ons thing going on)

It's what most people consider fairy kei and it's all cute still, it's just a bit more accessorized than those outfits and has wigs.
Also you can do side ponytails and stuff with wigs, I have before and it looked fine and wasn't so hard... Plus with wigs, you can change your hair to go better with your current outfit.

I have friends who go on about how AP reminds them of sissy clothes and is super creepy, but they wear fairy kei with fucking MLP necklaces and that kind of shit. I think sweet lolita gives off the age play feel a little more than fairy kei, but this is still enough so where those who wear it don't really have the right to throw stones...

Again, not trying to be rude. Even though it's not my thing, I still think it looks lovely on others when done properly, but I just don't get why I never see anything said about this fashion when sweet gets so much shit.

Coming from someone who lives in Japan and is friends with six fairy kei girls, all of which but one who have been doing it for over a year, I'm telling you right now that you don't know what you're talking about and you really need to reevaluate your sources. This is the equivalent of the new girls in lolita who scream "ita!" at things that are not. It's true that in Japan the style tends to be more toned down, but the rest of what you said is complete bullshit. There are plenty of fairy kei girls here who do it in the "Western" way (which, for the record, the OTT aspect of most Western fairy kei originated in Japan, which again shows how little you know about the subject) and the most of the girls you quoted are the kind of shit my friends and their fairy kei friends would be gushing over. Just like with lolita, there's is toned down fairy kei and OTT (although they have no name for it). One is not less fairy kei than the other, get over yourself and educate yourself more before acting like you know more about the fashion than literally everyone else.

I know that I'm being very cunty about this, but I can't stand it when people who don't know what they're talking about act like some kind of expert giving people breakthrough information. That and I'm sleep deprived from last night, but can't go back to bed because I accidentally drank tea on autopilot this morning.

either way it's popkei.

and yes popkei is similar but with brighter colors and includes things like black(atleast for accessories) popkei actually was around first and then fairykei came about later on. popkei also places more emphasis on mimicking idolwear(like akb 48) rather than 80s pastel flair.

as to who's coming up with these styles, japan is. there are tons of different styles that seem similar, even in gyaru.

Is it possible to look cute in fairy kei if you're a chubby white girl?

I really love the style but I'm slightly chubby and white, and I don't want to end up looking like a gross monster in fairy kei.

What do you guys think?

I think fairy-kei is pretty welcoming of chubbies, considering all the chunky sweaters and fluffy skirts. Although if you've got really chunky legs it may be more difficult to pull off.

Depends on your face and your body I think. Someone who's fat but compact will look cuter than someone who's fat and flabbing all over the place, similar to how floppy big tits look pathetic compared to large firm breasts.

If you don't have a cute face or you can't fake it with make-up, though, you're not going to look cute.

You can get really good colorful skirts by typing in "pettiskirt" on ebay.
Look through for a listing that has a lot of age options and if you look there is usually a "6-8 year" option which if you look at the size chart actually fits 22"-26" waists! This is how I get all my pettis.
The ones that are about $20 are okay but the better quality poofier ones seem to be the $30 ones.

I like the style of these skirts but I dont know what they are actually called or know where to get some that are colored. I found one on ebay, but it only comes in black and white and it is the only one that come up with the description "layered tutu, uneven cut tutu, tiered tutu" ect. I tried to google search and it only leads to pintrest labeled as Harajuku Skirt, which yields no similar results when googled. Sorry and thank you for you time!
