So, you're probably the best thread I can ask about this, cause I want to cosplay a grey dude (not homestuck, or AT). Do you guys have recommendations for good grey facepaint? I've used ben nye before and didn't really like the results, as it took FOREVER to apply, I tended to feel the need to rub my face, and then rubbed it clean off. After I washed it off I found my face broke out into a million tiny white heads.
Additionally, would I be able to apply makeup on top of the paint you recommend?
I was thinking about making some PAX, but I've heard its not good for faces. True?

PAX is bad for faces because there's no give to it, so every time you talk or move your face it'll wrinkle and eventually pull

I'd suggest waterbase gray like mehron or kryolan but if you thought the ben nye took forever to put on you won't have the patience for it. it's less greasy and won't break you out, though.

I'll recommend Kryolan (aquacolor, not supra) every time, as it's the best paint for sensitive skin in my experience. Water based paints like Kryolan, Snazaroo, Mehron, Tag, or Wolfe Brothers will definitely be better for you. You can check out those brands to see which offers a paint that most closely matches the shade of grey that you're after.

I'm sick of going to cons and seeing that a third of the cosplays there are half-assed Homestuck cosplays -- and I actually read the comic. Going into a tag on tumblr for a ship involving Dirk and any female character is the worst. So much asspain and whining about sexual erasure for a character who rejected being called gay in canon.
Not to mention Davesprite dated Jade, but fuck if the fandom remembers that happened.

People always rebut with the same DaveJohn strawman. Weak. It's not hypocriticial because the issue isn't about shipping. It's about the justification thereof. People know John is straight in the comic because he's declared it, and shipping John in a gay relationship doesn't change that. I haven't seen anyone get really jazzed about explaining to someone else that John is canonically homosexual because of certain exchanges he's had despite him stating that he's straight. On the flip side, Dirk has exclusively stated that because of his orientation, he's only attracted to men, yet people can't take this at face value. I see a lot of people trying to explain away their Dirk/Girl ships by using bisexuality as an excuse (which is really sleazy because you're applying a queer sexuality to him for the sole reason of making this straight relationship work) or using the "he's not canonically gay b/c he called it antediluvian!" argument. Ship whatever you want, but don't try to wile away canon to suit your shipping needs. DaveJohn is fine, but in canon and not a shipper's universe, John is straight. DirkRoxy is fine, but in canon and not a shipper's universe, Dirk is gay. It's when people ship those pairings and try to warp canon otherwise that they become idiots.
