Is there a specific little girl you wanna cosplay? If so you have two main options: do it or don't do it.
You can go ahead and be who you want, but you might be extra conscious of your height or some asshole might give you crap or something
Or you can not cosplay the loli of your dreams and maybe go for a character closer to your height that you think you'd suit better, but it won't be what you really want
Which situation will most likely make you happier? Go with that one.

If I were you, I'd just go for it. Practice makeup techniques and poses/camera angles to be as loli-riffic and short-looking as you can. Maybe you can round up some friends who are taller than you to cosplay from the same anime/game/comic/movie/show/whatever with you.
Also, 5'7" isn't too terribly tall. Height is less important, if you have loli enough face then you should have minimal problems.

And remember, there are plenty of short girls who always get mistaken for high school students and all they really want is to cosplay big, tall manly men or seductive badass ladies who feel just like you.

Let's say your wanting to cosplay Yotsuba for example. Craft cereal boxes (or whatever) that will fit around your shins without looking too weird, then attach fakes shoes to the top of the boxes and attach a fake strap. With the right clothes and what-have-you I think it could work.

It worked for a 6'5" guy who wanted to be a dwarf for LARP.

My gymnastics teacher told me I should quit because I would likely be too tall to be a real gymnast. They said I would hit a growth spurt just before high school and get really tall. I haven't grown an inch since 8th grade.

I am 27 and this still makes me angry as shit. I don't want people to think I'm little and cute. I want them to think I'm a bad ass.

The only thing I don't really like is what I call "playground politics", but I already have a reputation for having a zero tolerance policy for bullshit amongst my peers. I made an enemy out of a fellow teacher in my age group because of that, unfortunately. I bumped into her one night while I was out with friends and she actually tried to pick a fight with me over it.

But maybe you're right, maybe I should try and play it up? People are already really surprised that I listen to metal. I haven't been at it long, but I'm working on getting /fit/ and want to take up something like rock climbing or kick boxing as well.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't like cute shit, though. All my stationary is Sanrio, Lisa Frank or something similar.
