if you count sailor amazing as a cosplay. here's all ive done this year, i also got my mako cosplay all finished up as well as most of my leona cosplay, but im waiting for 2014 to debut those so that can wait! this was a pretty good year cosplay wise, and though ive still got so far to go, im proud of the progress ive made from the terribad stuff i made when i first started.

Ugh, so cute.

Anyway uh, the only cosplay I actually completed this year was Quattro Bajeena for Fanime. Fanime overall was a whole lot of fun despite the construction issues and the people at the Gundam gathering were incredibly friendly. I also went to AX but I caught con plague so... that didn't turn out so fun. I managed to score some gunpla I'd been eyeing though which wasn't so bad, I guess. AX overall though seems to just get worse and worse every year, at this rate I just keep coming back out of loyalty.

Next year should be a lot better for me as far as cosplay turn outs go. My girlfriend have been bouncing a lot of ideas around.

That's not including the costumes I made for friends so all in all that's...a lot of costumes. Definitely learned my lesson with stretching myself too thin helping others for a con.

All in all 2013 was a good year! I really enjoyed my first PAX, and looking forward to ALA 2014.

I don't have a picture of my Ky Kiske cosplay which was the last one I made and wore this year, but I figured this is close enough to a full list. I went to C2E2, Acen, and Anime Iowa with my friends this year and to Con+Alt+Delete by myself. I always tend to have fun at cons and this year was no exception.

I didn't get much done this year, unfortunately. I did make my first weapon though. Drew it on birch wood, had a friend help cut it out and sand it, and painted it myself, so I'm proud about that.

I also tried making armor but ended up not finishing in time for the con and I'm taking a break for a while before finishing it.

And I got my first lolita dress finally? I'll have a full coord at some point next year ...

Twister in an elevator, bombed a panel with a speedo, awesome rave experiences, regrettably wasted at Otakon with random Asian kids I just met, Free! bros, first con friends, Twister everywhere, so many board games, learned from a lot of cosplayers, initiated my first real cosplay, stayed at some stranger's house for a con and it was very pleasant, and had many fun times.

I usually put together a photo of all the costumes I've done every year.. I told myself last year I'd cut down on number of costumes....woops. I'm already excited for next year though. I feel like it's going to be awesome.

I always feel like I make more costumes than I actually do. Although I unfortunately did not get Queen Ashe done for 2013 as planned so that could be why I thought I got more done.

2013 was great. I had a lot of fun at cons, made a lot of friends and learned a lot about cosplay. I wore Pascal at pretty much every convention since it was my favourite costume this year. Made my first weapons and learned a lot props in general (R.I.P bow/sword) I'm very excited to see how 2014 is going to go. Just going to keep doing my best and hopefully get even better. My Panty is trash because it was literally last minute and didn't have time to make her dress so just used one that I already had. So don't worry I know its bad, and I'd actually really like to redo her in the future properly.

When I got to the Miley one I fucking lost it, you actually did it really well.

Had a bit of a breakdown trying to force together a costume for ALA this year and it jacked up my hands (It became too painful to touch or pick things up for a while), so I promised myself I'd regulate my plans better so I could enjoy cons and so far I've had the best con run since I can remember. No drama, minimal to no stress, forced myself to be more outgoing and drank a lot with friends this year. That stands out to me because in the 7 or so years I've been going to cons I haven't had an entire year of no problems. I only did 2 new cosplays this year, but I'm happy with how they turned out even if they're not anything amazing. Everything else was just remaking stuff, improving craftsmanship, and learning how to do new things that previously terrified me. Pic related. Finally got this cosplay to fit me and learned how to make a bag to hold all my shit. Here's to hoping 2014 is just as great.

I made a lot more new costumes this year than I usually would make in a year. Overall 2013 was a great year for me, I made more belts than I ever want to make again and levelled up my wig skills quite a bit. Learning how to sew chiffon for Morgiana was not fun and after Jolyne, I never want to sew an entire costume out of vinyl again.

Pretty mellow year for me. I've gotten four costumes done, probably a fifth by the end of the year technically since I'll have some down time at home between seeing family and friends. But my technique has gotten better with sewing, and my costumes looked so much cleaner than they ever have, and it's been years since I was able to devote so much time to cosplay, so that was nice.

Only went to three cons. First was my home con that I wound up practically working because I'm friends with everyone on staff, but that was fine. Dragon Con was good, second year going and I really figured out what I want from that con in the future and made a few new friends. The last was a comic con I went to alone which was okay, I was an awkward spaz from being excited about meeting new people in my new city, but oh well.

Overall, I'm excited for what 2014 has to offer!

Yep. I'm a NEET so time is the opposite of an issue for me (and I sew fast) and money just comes from what the government gives me for being a massive loser.

The only costume I finished this year (spent too much on lolita), and it fell apart because some tard cosplaying a Team Rocket good stepped on the back on the skirt and ruined it. Here's a headshot because the damage was that bad. It was Meiko in Conchita Epicurian of Evil (or some shit). I'm planning on remaking it next year.

This year was the first year I ever went to a con and the first time I cosplayed. Im 20 now, but I've been wanting to cosplay since I was maybe 13, but I never had the confidence to do it alone. I finally met some of my best friends in college and they were also into cosplay, so one of them helped me make a simple Star Trek costume that I wore to DragonCon. I carried around a phaser, too. Even though it was a simple costume, going to a huge con like DragonCon was amazing. I'm so happy that I met some friends who can go to cons with me and who I can cosplay with. At first I felt a bit old to just be starting cosplay, but I hope that I will be doing it for years to come.

The first one looks too choppy, and also rather frizzy.

The second is hard to see well, so I can't really comment on that.

The third, the bangs are sort of... awkward looking? and the ponytail looks really weird too. Wigs don't pull back like real hair, you usually have to add in wefts or use a clip-in for a good-looking ponytail.

The fourth isn't too bad, but whatever that is on the back looks weird and uneven. I can't tell if it's supposed to be a crown, or if it's part of the wig, but it looks off.

The fourth looks like it's laying funny, like there's too much product in it, it looks choppy and stringy.

And the fourth, the banfs just look a mess. It might be the angle, but they look like there's not enough hair there for them.

Wigs aside, your costumes themselves look really nice.

I think my main fandoms are reflected here somehow. I made 4 Gundam costumes and 2 JJBA costumes. The other ones are stuff I always wanted to cosplay ( FMP!, Little Busters ) or whims of the moment ( HunterxHunter or DanganRonpa ). And after 4 years of making my own cosplays, I still keep it simple and make school uniforms. Well, I like to cosplay only what I love. And I love every single one of the characters I cosplayed.

I started to cosplay more seriously and often this year. Before I would only cosplay maybe once or twice a year or maybe just not at all. I also tried out new things this year like crossplay and making things from scratch. For next year I want to try and make more of my costumes now that I have a nice sewing machine and taking lessons.

Cons this year as a whole were pretty choice, the best being Colossalcon, HANDS FUCKING DOWN. That shit was amazing and I can't wait to go again this coming year! PREPARE YOUR ANUS OHIO! CALI IS COMING!

-Anime Conji: How do I continue to Bullshit the Masquerade and still win an award for it? Conclusion: the same way I always do~
-Sakuracon was a test ground for the Male!Ms. Fortune costume, learned some nice alternate methods of holding up floating garments and such. Built a boss ass rigging for ears that I can use forever!! Had an amazing time with friends that I don't get to see all the time!!
-Fanime: Glad I didn't enter masquerade afterall! Just hung out and cosplayed. Did almost nothing but hang and it was great!

This con was a train wreck, Cosplay Chess got screwed over, there was unneeded drama in my room (which was resolved thankfully), and being accosted by a homeless woman who wanted to suck my balls and then threatened to kill me when I said no. That shit was priceless! Also Labyrinth of Jareth was amazing!
-Comic Con: This was everyone gave me nice things weekend. I got half a grand in items that were given to me for free. I also got to work for Funimation on TV and met a ton of famous actors, artists, and members of the industry!
-PMX: Time to chill. Such a wonderful and relaxing weekend!!

It just hit me. Your the only person I've seen cosplay a Gundam character wearing a normal suit. What materials did you use? Did you follow any guide, tutorial or pattern? I've wanted to make one but had no clue where to start. Everything looks great also!

I used regular pleather, it was kind of difficult to move into the costume, but the result was neat. No patterns, just making regular pants/jacket, sewing it in the middle ( the belt is strategically placed ) and fitting it with needles then sewing it. The white stripes were placed afterwards, covering all the stitches.

I think you are the first to ever say I am not pale enough. Usually, I am so pale most think I am sick or something. That particular day though, it was really, really cold, and I am fairly certain my photographer did some coloring and excessive touch ups before I got the pics back.
I'm glad you like the slowpoke tail though. The Rocket costume was mostly a last minute decision. I was taking my young niece to her first con and she wanted to be Ash, so after I finished her costume, I threw together a Rocket Grunt as well, and had some time left, so I made a plush slowpoke tail. It went over pretty well.

This is just my costumes, not including the ones I made for others.Theres some i'm not so proud of and some im REALLY proud of, but im hoping things will get more advanced next year, now that I feel im more of an intermediate sewer.

The first one is supposed to be like that, her hair is all over the place. She's Pascal from Tales of Graces.

Second was a prestyled Serah from FFXIII that I bought and just fiddled around witt he bangs.

Man the third one is so bad I know. It's actually pigtails though so that's why it looks weirdly parted. It was my first time adding wefts (since her hair is black with pink accents) and it was a pre back parted wig. I've fought with that wig so much haha.

Fourth and Fifth are pic related. Same character different outfits. I tried to replicate her hairstyle to the best I could (it looks even weirder in game) I want to redo her and def want to redo the wig. Yeah I did put way to much product in it.

Fifth I was pretty happy with the bangs they are pretty full and I did it how it looks in the anime. I'm not however happy with that costume or the wig really and want to redo it all.

Thanks for all your help though it means a lot and I will definitely be trying to make them look better for next year.

Nothing. I got nothing done this year. I thought this year would be the one where I finally got a job so I could finish costumes I was working on and start new ones, but I'm still unemployed. It's taking 5 months to get new contacts so I can have my own transportation to expand my job pool and stop getting denied.

My 2013 cosplay wise was pretty awesome. Did lots of group cosplays (and consequently made a lot of new friends), got to make a couple dream costumes (Sakizos), went to Dragon Con for the first time ever, and got hired to be the official Weiss cosplayer for Rooster Teeth at SDCC to promote RWBY. Also learned a lot of new techniques in sewing and crafting to make a lot of these. And for PMX I wore my first ever brandu lolita outfit, from my favorite - Mary Magdalene.

My cosplay year was alright. I didn't do any dream costumes or anything super impressive, but I had fun wearing most of these.

I'm not totally happy with some of the cosplays I made for groups because either they were rushed or I wasn't very invested in them to begin with. But I think I learned a good amount about sewing due to trying things outside my comfort zone. Next year I want to focus more on improving my craftsmanship.

My biggest disappointment this year was not getting a lot of my Fanime photos back, especially considering how much time I spent outside the con shooting. If I knew I'd be waiting this long for photos I'd rather have spent the time doing actual fun con things and getting the money's worth from my badge...

I feel like I really fell off the cosplay wagon this year.
My Rin costume was bought because I suck,
and my Rose photo is a webcam pic because I haven't gotten around to doing an actual shoot yet.

I only went to one con this year, so only the Neo Queen Serenity was really a convention costume? I wish I could have gone to more, but funds and time off are both hard to get. We're hoping to go to Sakura and Fanime next year (and maybe Emerald City Comic Con, if we can swing it?) The coords are just the new pieces from this year, the first skirt being something I made. The bottom left is what I wore to the Ren Faire (and is the only one showing my real hair.)

I sewed my first cosplay/thing thats more than a square in August!! It was really simple (just a homestuck godtier) but now I'm using more techniques and trying to make my work cleaner.

That's it for me.
To say it's been an off year is an understatement...
I did WCS with Ava in Castlevania:OoE, I met the creator of Dust at PAX as Dust, and I had a wonderful SAO photoshoot at George's Island in Boston Harbor. But besides that, it's been a year fraught with depression and related ADD/mental issues, as well as several months of unemployment, resulting in not much getting done, not even commissions. Instead I ended up selling off a lot of cosplay, including all but 3 mascot costumes, and I haven't been to a con since June.
2014 is looking to turn around though, I have a lot of ideas, a steady well-paying job, and my drive is coming back. I'm getting excited for cosplay again. Gasp.

2013 was a pretty mediocre year for me. I feel like a lot of my cosplays were in vain because I didn't get recognized in three of them (Boris, Parappa, and Flippy). That isn't to say that I didn't have fun being them, but it wears on you after a while when you stand to the side every time one of your friends gets their picture taken.

France was a big hit again at Sakura-con and the con itself was great. My hotel situation was aweful but I spent the whole time either on my own/free to do what I wanted, or hanging with my friend. It was also the first cgl meet I went to and I had a blast.

Kumori-con wasnt so fantastic. There was a lot of drama among the group I went with and again, I didnt get my picture taken hardly at all. I did get to meet up with some more seagulls and made a few new friends, so all in all it was fine.

My plans for 2014 is to work on my make up skills, specifically contouring and fake facial hair. Actually, I have a lot of improving to do overall. I also really want to go on photoshoots for my cosplays, even if it's just with my friends. And I want to see if I can rally them into another group cosplay. We havent all been from the same show since Gurren Lagann; we might shoot for Yu Yu Hakusho next year.

Help set up a volunteer group of costumers for hospitals
I feel like I'm missing something, but I think that covers most of it.

2013 was a productive year but I admit a very lazy one.
The only costume I am quite proud of making is the Dio outfit.
So for 2014, I think my goal will be to only focus on 2-3 costumes more of my dream costumes.

This year hasn't been that good for me, sadly. I got to visit only 2 conventions, I barely had photo-shoots and my costumes kind of failed, in my opinion.

However, I did get to make my Sasori costume I've always wanted to make. It's my first big costume and I'm pretty proud of the movable wings. Because of my costume I kind of got back into watching Naruto and decided to cosplay Deidara as well. I also got to experiment a bit more with make-up and I suck less than before now.

Guess I had quite a nice cosplay year.
Went to three major cons, my home con and lots of little meet ups and shootings. I didn't really try to challenge myself that much craftmanshipwise except with Shego, since I'm a beginner at sewing. Oh well, only my second year cosplaying. So nothing too fancy but I had plenty of fun with spontaneous simple things. Now I just need time to wear and shoot my tons of finished stuff without good photos.
But I'm definitely looking forward to 2014, it's looking good already!

I don't have a crazy collage as my outfits were the same this year with the exception of Teddie getting reworked. However 2013 was an important year as it marked as the beginning of my participation in the Jojo fandom.

Different anon here. The quality is decent for a beginner, but I would personally suggest that you spend more time on each costume. It's clear you put a lot of effort into these assuming that you made them, but it is also clear from the quality that you're new to cosplay. That's not meant to be an insult or anything, like I said, your stuff is definitely solid overall for a beginner (mine looked much worse my first year). The thing with easier character designs is that you actually have to be more careful about getting all the details perfectly since there's less to judge. A small mistake that would go unnoticed on something crazy intricate can make or break a more simple costume as it stands out more.
