Yeah. Some stuff is easier(like anything that can fit in a flat rate envelope) and at least domestic US priority flat rate envelopes get either up to $50 or $100 insurance without an extra charge.

But otherwise yeah, I ALWAYS worry about shipping stuff out. Even if it's not merchandise and I'm just sending a package to a friend. I always worry something is going to happen to their package, so imagine how I'd feel if one of my goods were lost. Customer loses out and my time wasted.

Stuff like Pillows and clothing tend to do okay vacuumed sealed. I don't think a plushie would handle it so well(especially depending on how packed you have the stuffing in it. I could only imagine something like this happening with a plush.

I hope to eventually get into making Lolita headpieces, so I always worry about those getting damaged in shipping. Things like skirts, capelets, etc... can be folded into a flat envelope nicely.

Part-time seller anon here. My local post office always asks me if I want tracking. It's cheap and they'll put a sticker on your package and give you a number on your receipt. It's great insurance to have if you're worried about packages going missing or if a buyer claims it never arrived and wants a refund, you can just check the number and then if they'r elying, just screencap it and your receipt.

i'm glad other anons answered this; i've only bought from etsy once and after finding out about their policies (if you call out a chinese sweatshop, you get accused of bullying and banned, especially if you're right!), i can't support them in the slightest. at least storenvy doesn't put on an air of pretension about "REAL handmade" by crafty moms and clever hipsters.

>> No.7242969

I bet the alibaba and taobao resellers make up most of their revenue, since they're so much cheaper and produce in much higher quantities than real crafters do. Etsy is two-faced as fuck, pretending to be all about ~*unique, lovingly handmade, one-of-a-kind*~ while banning anyone casting doubts on obvious phoney storefronts.
I've been thinking of starting up my own lolita and mori accessories store to make some extra money, but don't want to support Etsy's hypocritical, pretentious bullshit. How good is storenvy to its sellers? I've never sold anything online before.

i'm certain they absolutely do and that's why etsy won't actually remove the factory sellers and instead bans actual small-time crafters to keep their precious revenue safe. supposedly storenvy is pretty easy to use and only takes their cut from whatever you sell, so no listing fees or anything, but i haven't tried it myself yet so i can't say.

>> No.7243192

The Storenvy FAQ says they don't take a cut from your sales, they imply they make their money from people getting optional store upgrades.
>It’s free! What’s the catch?
There is no catch! We believe that everyone should have access to an awesome online store to grow their business. After you open your store, you can choose to pay for a few Extras to enhance your store such as Custom Domain support and Super Discounts.
>Yes, Storenvy stores are really free! No sign-up fee, no listing fee, no monthly fee, no transaction fee.
For store owners, typical credit card fees still apply (2.9% + $.30 for all transactions up to $3,000), but that’s between you and PayPal. Storenvy never handles any of your money. For more info, check out PayPal’s fee structure.

I perfer selling on Storenvy than Esty. I was paying lots in fees for Etsy when I hadn't sold anything. With Storenvy my sales have increased a lot even on my off season months.

People say Etsy has more traffic, but that all depends on how you advertise yourself. I also feel Storenvy is better if you like to customize everything you do. With Etsy it's just a banner, but if you really like having creative freedom you can make a pretty cute store with Storenvy.

Stop PMS-ing so hard. Shit sucks but it is very much a part of life and something all women have to learn to deal with. People of all genders have to deal with pain. I'm not saying we should laugh off other people's pain, but we should at least learn to deal with our own. You don't have to hide your pain or always smile or anything, but at least don't be an insufferable bitch and ruin everyone else's day because you're in pain.

Making light of period products gets a laugh from me. I don't believe the plushies are making light of the pain associated, or even further the implications of gender, reproduction, a woman's place in society, and so on. You're just being a bitch and making an issue of nothing.

This is what I hate about so many of the seamstresses. They go for the ugliest or cheapest looking fabrics. You get a flood of ugly poorly made dresses and skirts. When with just a little extra time, you can have something decent.

I mean, yes you can be severely limited by why you can find, but you can still make up for it with a little creativity. I'd rather see some selling nice simple looking solid colored skirts with a bit of lace trim then some of the monstrocities they pass off with tacky cheap satin or heaving forbid that freaking licensed fabrics that so many "fandom" lolitas make.

Yeah this always gets me. I know Joanns fabric selection can suck balls sometimes but there's other options, especially if you're trying to be a real seamstress. My grandma used to drag me everywhere looking for nice fabric for the dolls she used to sell, set a whole day aside just for that and go into the city. Now with the internet there's no reason you shouldn't be able to find nice quality fabric with suitable prints and just have it delivered.

I mean you can still find some decent fabric at JoAnns, but like you said, you can find some decent stuff online, and the cost you have to pay for some fabric some of them use(like that comic book print) you could spend the same amount for something with a nicer print. A skirt really doesn't even take that much, especially if you're sewing a a-line skirt with a gathered or pleated waist.

ohmanohmanohman. in junction with the horrible choice of decorations, this reminds me of those polymer clay artists who glaze every goddamn thing, regardless of what it is.

I hate this ugly trend of using comic prints to make skirts. The only thing is use it for is pillowcases. I know someone who made a vest out if Avengers print for Baltimore comic con.

I'm a fairly big girl but I can get a decently full skirt with wide waistband out of 2 yards of 45" wide fabric. The hems usually round out to about 3.5 yards so yeah thats just about perfect considering my 38" waist.

I think it looks neat as an accent kind of? I have a weird as fuck Beatles print in a similar style to the comics ones and I used it to line a jacket, then around the edges and on pockets. Small doses of it on a plain black jacket.

When I make skirts for myself, I usually end up picking up about 1.5 yards of fabric if it's around 45" wide. I still usually end up with enough scrap I can make a matching hairbow.

I love the icing stuff but it's kind of a double-edged sword - it's super easy to use (poorly), which makes a lot of people believe they can just slather silicone caulk all over any goddamn thing and slap random sprinkles/plastic toys in it and that looks good.
My favorite is when they shove the shit so deep in the "icing" it's nearly buried. It's supposed to look like a decorated cake... why would you shove shit so deep into cake icing?

no, he also did paintings of his lover. also, did you forget the subject of his piece called "Guernica"?

>Guernica
>Guernica is a painting by Pablo Picasso. It was created in response to the bombing of Guernica, a Basque Country village in northern Spain, by German and Italian warplanes at the behest of the Spanish Nationalist forces on 26 April 1937 during the Spanish Civil War.

>Guernica shows the tragedies of war and the suffering it inflicts upon individuals, particularly innocent civilians
