Availability of wigs was really bad and satin was considered a good fabric for everything. On the other hand nobody was under some delusion that if they got the most most likes online they'd be famous, they just did it because they really liked the show. There WERE good cosplayers back then, it was just harder and because it wasn't this big thing to spam your cosplay photos everywhere on the internet, you don't really get a good idea of stuff. ACP has the old fansview archives if you want to get a better idea.

Aside from that, when I was in treatment for anorexia there were guys in the program with me who were anorexic. They typically have different reasons for developing EDs than girls, though.
