What should I wear to a Kyary Pamyu Pamyu concert?
I don't want to wear regular, casual clothing, and I know many people dress up eccentrically for her concerts.
I was thinking about wearing lolita, but this would be my first time, and I don't want to look like a dick in front of people who are presumably interested in j-fashion.
Also, I don't know how much actual dancing, sweating, people touching, etc. would be going, and I wouldn't want to ruin the clothes, especially if I was in lolita.
Suggestions?

Agreed. Lolita doesn't belong there . Wear fairy kei fashion or decora. Be colorful, comfortable and have fun . Even wearing teal or lavender jeans would be cute .

That depends.

I went to the LA concert at Club Nokia. If you (or anyone who reads this) is going to the concert in LA, here are some tips.

If you are going to camp a few hours before the concert to get "Pit" tickets don't wear lolita, you will be smushed and sweated on, they also serve alcohol on the premises (right behind you in the pit) and people are stupid. They.Will.Spill.On.You.

Another thing, camping in lolita for several hours. WHY?

If you are not planning on being in the standing room only area of the venue, feel free to wear lolita. I camped for Pit tickets the first time around, was a lot of fun but I did not wear lolita, the area you stand in line is directly where the sun hits the few hours before the concert starts.

Take from this what you will.

Ok, I'll nix lolita off my list for concert wear. I'm actually seeing her in NYC at the Best Buy Theater in March.
Somewhat OT, but I don't actually know if I'll try and get up front. I wanted to take some really good pictures, and I feel like that's hard to do up front where everyone's jumping around the most, but at the same time, I do really want to enjoy myself, and not be stuck behind a camera. Concert dilemmas.

Getting there early and in fashion would really be worth it, I think. Sometimes they film the line and its worth getting a better spot imo. Especially if you get there ~6 hours beforehand, you should be in a decent standing position, and dont forget that you'll be in line with tons of other people who are also into Kyaryu Pamyu Pamyu which doesnt happen very often, so it might be fun! :3 Also yeah, fairy kei all the way. Bonus points for 6%dokidoki.

General concert guidelines:

IF you want to be up front, buy your ticket ahead of time (if possible). Get there at least 6-8 hours early. (I went to a concert and showed up at 8 AM, it didn't start until 6 PM. I was first in line, but it was a smaller venue).

Bring shit to do. Also bring a secure bag to keep your shit in when you go inside. Don't forget snacks, and bottled water.

When those doors open, fucking run. Run as fast as you can to the very front. It will be the absolute best, and you'll have more free space than anyone else in the pit.

Your shins will probably bruise.

Use your elbows. Don't be afraid to push someone away if they try to shove their way to the front. That is your rightful place, and you don't let anyone take it from you.

Make sure you drink plenty and use the bathroom beforehand.

Make sure you dress for summer weather, because it's gonna be hot in there.

Don't ever wear your nice clothing, other people will sweat on it, other people may spill on it.

If you go with friends:
Pick a meeting place for afterwards if you get separated.

Form the "anti moshpit chain" as I call it to avoid being separated. That is, link arms, and be as close together as possible. People will NOT be able to squeeze between yo, or pull you apart.

That's all I can really think of.

I also saw KPP at Club Nokia in LA and it was a lot of fun. I was more towards the center where I stood and my phone took shitty pictures and video.

There was a large variety of different type of people, from the cosplayers, lolita, to your average joe, to your Japanese families, and older Japanese businessmen. The crowd went absolutely nuts when she performed, "Invader Invader" for the first time. Overall it was a fun and great show. She performed everything off of her first album and all her singles.

I'm seeing her again in February in San Francisco. I'm glad she's performing in SF, my brother and I drove out to LA six hours away to see her. She came to SF earlier this year and performed for free at Union Square. I was only able to catch her encore because I was watching a symphony the same time she was performing.

I would say wear Lolita if you're willing to risk it but creepy cute, fairy kei, or very light cpk (any chiffon items really), just wear something that doesn't make you overheat so you don't have to take off 10 layers.

As someone who works at a venue that Kyary will be performing, I got some tips.

-Wear normal clothes; t-shirt and jeans. Like any crowded place, it gets warm and humid quick. Fuck fancy clothing, unless you plan on sitting down or watching from afar.

-If you dont want to wait in line with gossipy vapid lolitas, arrive there an hour after door opens to avoid those stupid opening bands. Unless you want to buy her overpriced merchandise, then arrive early and wait in the cold wet weather outside.

-My venue has free water dispensers, cant speak for all venues. Bottled water can run from $2-5. Some have free water only in the bar area. If underage, just drink out of the faucet in the bathroom sink.

-Coat check can be free or can cost a few bucks. If you want to save some money and risk losing a coat or jacket, just hide it behind a pillar or crevice.

-Want to be near the front? just push your way through. A concert like this, people are too pussy to do anything about it. Yeah some might try to step in front of you so you wont pass, just butt yourself in.

I went to her show in NYC last spring and wore Listen Flavor stuff. So...kinda punky and colorful? Oshare kei type stuff.
Something comfy that breathes is your best bet - it gets hot and crowded, especially in the pit. You also want comfortable shoes. Make sure you have a place to put your phone and any cash so they won't get lost/stolen during any madness - I have a little clip purse I put on my belt for concerts that works nicely.
At that show, there were people dressed "normal", lolitas, fairy kei, and everything in between. You won't look out of place no matter what you wear.

I'm seeing her at the same venue in March!

I went to her concert in NYC in full Lolita and I have no regrets. I had VIP tickets so I wanted to look nice for photos. It did get really warm, but no one was sweating on me or anything.

There may be japanese TV crews looking for people in Kyary's outfits so that's pretty cool if you want to have a chance to be on youtube/tv :D. Next Kyary show I go to I want to try cosplaying one of her outfits.

I have a question. I'm a vlogger and I take my Sony powershot camera with me all the time, it's like my treasure lol. Are they going to do bag inspection? If we are not allowed to take videos or pictures, would I be able to still have my camera inside my bag without getting trouble? I wish I can record a little just to show people how showbox concert in Seattle is like... and I want to record people's fashion. Hope to hear one of you who are experienced to my question will response and not someone who makes prediction :)
