The after I'm not happy with the shoes, but I really feel good about the coord overall. I still have a lot of room to grow and improve, but I feel like I've come a long way.

I would add a ribbon tied to the collar and may7be tease your hair a bit to give more volume. I'd also ditch the blue tights, they look too random.

You also shouldn't forget to apply make up. with lolita you need to be a little heavy with it around the eyes. Even just a winged liquid liner would be good.

I would love to, unfortunately the only way to do that is to wear a wig (which I'm not opposed to, it's just that particular meetup involved me cooking and serving food, and I didn't want to risk a wig fiber falling into it). oh man I have been coming up on 6 years of cosplaying. This is nuts. I think the greatest strength I have since developed is attention to detail and learning make up. But I still think I need to slow down and fix a lot of basic construction and presentation issues I have.
Which I am totally okay with. Learning and discovering new techniques is one of my favorite things about cosplay.
Now that I have started college, I dont have the time or funds available to dedicate like I used to. So now I'm really forced to take my time with each project and really make sure all the details are perfect which really wasn't something I was doing before.

You've come a long way and I love that you've seemingly increased both the difficulty and detailed levels in your costumes. Do you work with fabric stuff often, or only armour? It could be a new direction for you to go toward if you try a ballgown or something slightly more fabric-intensive. You can't escape your lady face, though, so I recommend you cosplay less men in the future (though it looks like you already realize it.)

I'd like to get into more armor work, on the other hand, and can't because I don't know where to start in terms of making a decent purchase of Worbla and other materials. (Any tips?)

I love crafting things but with cosplay there's such a rough learning curve. Wasting all your money to try out a single technique that will probably be terrible your first time through makes me sad.

No pictures, but my first cosplay (at age 12) I used clay to hold an a.c moore t-shirt and felt together. Yes, like real, fun to play with, clay. Now I'm at age 19, and although my cosplay's still need much improvement, at least I can use a sewing machine now.

I know they're not to everyone's preference but I like them for a few reasons. It balances out large and mulitple hair accessories when going OTT. I've tried it without and it doesn't work quite the same. I'd like to experiment with extensions/falls and some fuller-styled wigs though. Also the volume of the hair draws less attention to my broader shoulders and bust and sort of evens it out a bit. Otherwise I can look like a hulk depending on the style of the dress or the blouse. So there is some thought and purpose there, not just "hey everyone else wears them" kinda thing.

I've posted my timeline in a previous thread but I decided not to repost. Instead, I was inspired by the anons in this thread who have shown improvement in coordinating the same dress. Outfits range from 2010 (when I first gave wigs and makeup a go) to 2013.

What I love about these timelines is not just the outfit improvement but increase in confidence in lolita. It really shows in the way you guys pose!

Honestly though, I'd say cgl's standards of fat is pretty fucked, too.
Though it also depends on what the word fat means to each person. To someone, 'fat' may mean 'above average weight'. To someone else, fat may mean 'severely overweight'.
Personally when I hear the word fat I do think of someone who is severely overweight. Slightly overweight I consider chubby, but the word chubby does not even enter into cgl conversations often. We just jump right to fat.

I think cgl would almost certainly consider me kind of fat, despite the fact I'm in the healthy weight range for my height and age.

5'4". Honestly the frills make everything look bigger. But a lot of my bulk in the upper body is muscle, especially in my arms. Original PCOS anon here, I've been on Metformin for about six months now, with the dosages being raised twice now. I'm in a bit of a slump because the weight loss has yet to come, but I'm optimistic. And of course, it's not always about numbers and scales and it can be about building muscle and losing fat and having the numbers not change at all, but still being able to squat/bench your bodyweight and be healthy. I do regularly wear a minimizer or sports bra. I also wear corsets with Lolita, but I don't waist train. I can only estimate where I'm going to end up based on how and where I lose the most, but it's likely I'll end up (given 25lbs, 6lbs per inch) around 92-94cm bust and a 78-80cm waist. I have very little space between my ribs and hips, so without a corset, I won't be achieving a very defined waist, even if I have a much lower body fat percentage. but at some point it hit me that cosplaying as (ugly) men from one piece isn't what i want to do anymore.
