>> No.7181118

>>7181115
I like the small ones. But tumblr took that trend and turned them into fist sized flowers surrounding your head and that shit just looks bad.

I watched it get popular as people decided that photoshopping crowns onto characters' heads are the best thing on the internet since cheezburgercats. I assumed at first it was lana del ray's rise in popularity but knowyourmeme seems to point towards One Direction?

Yes, flower crowns do not exist outside of tumblr.
They are not being sold in every damn clothes shop everywhere. Tumblr is to blame for them suddenly existing.

In other news, someone said a wrong thing on tumblr/did a wrong thing that wasn't nearly right on tumblr/threw a hissyfit on tumblr, therefore the whole site is a cesspit and should be avoided like the plague.

I have to admit I hated them when I first started to see them worn all over the place, but I have since been seduced by them and bought a few recently.

I think balance and color coordination are key to blame for them getting the rep they have. The way a lot of girls wear them, they almost always clash horribly with the other colors in a coord, and they always look way too big and unbalanced- especially with the frizzy waffled wigs everyone wears them with. IMO they work best when more subtly-colored and smaller, so that they're less of a 'pile of flowers on your head' and more of a row of small flowers with an updo, similar to a bridal look.

however i agree that they are lovely when properly coordinated with actual fashions like mori, otome, and lolita.

I have friends who have been eatten by tumblr. They started out as lesbians and turned into polyamorous genderqueer pansexuals who use "they" and "yo" instead of "she" when talking about eachother.

>>7181513
I've never understood why 'they' isn't just used by people who don't want to identify as 'he' or 'she'. 'They' is a gender neutral term, and you don't get any more. Just like we don't get more than one term for male or female. You don't get to invent your own pronouns, I do not want to refer to you as 'xirfm' because you can't settle for what's been assigned to you.

People complain that we don't have a gender neutral term in the English language, but we do. It's 'they'. Now shut the fuck up and take it.

It's technically grammatically incorrect. "They" is plural. You're supposed to say "he or she" (or "she or he" if you're a feminist) to refer to a person of unspecified gender in a sentence.

>> No.7181646

This kind of thing bothers me a lot, it's just as rude to not assume as it is to assume genders. That said I do hate the gender = gender roles/stereotypes mentality.

No real horror stories as such, but I wish people tagged their SJW stuff so I could filter it out.
The 3edgy-guro-art tumblr owners are organised motherfuckers that tag all of their shit so I can filter out furry and ageplayer stuff.
The jfashion people just let their vivid rape stories and photos of starving babies run rampant and untagged alongside Kyary Pamyu Pamyu because AWARENESS GUIZ.

I get it, awareness is important and we shouldn't ignore important issues, but if trigger warnings are such a big part of the SJW thing then why can't it be respected that half the shit they post could be considered to need one. When it's not traumatic, it's also repetitive to be spammed with usual 'lol every1 is beautiful and yuneek except white privileged males' comics.

Anyway not going into too much detail but:
>Really strange weeby SJW gets put onto planning committee for an upcoming event
>When adding the other members on FB she sees an offhand hentai-related meme shared on one of the guys' pages
>"UM EXCUSE ME THERE IS A HENTAI PERVERT IN OUR COMMITTEE, PLS KICK HIM OFF HE IS A POTENTIAL RAPIST ENDANGERING ALL THE GIRLS HERE"
>oh boy here we go
>He apologizes profusely for offending/potentially triggering her and removes the content, we don't kick him off and assume everything is fine
>Suddenly boycott threats and violence threats from random people in the committee inbox wtf
>Turns out she ran crying to her SJW friends that the committee is full of "rape apologists" and "perverts" because we didn't kick the "rapist" out and they invoked the wrath of Tumblr on us
>We kick her out instead :)

I ran into her months after the (successful) event and she immediately launched into a rant about how the committee head supposedly "spread lies" about her and "sabotaged" her "reputation" by booting her. I walked away laughing. Crazy bitch.

Not really a horror story but I'm sort of sick of seeing these comics/info graphics on kinda of minor stuff thats meant to "spread awareness" or to "tell me how to treat these people". Like the ones in particular on people who are introverted...it feels like they're jut trying to make it seem like they have a problem when its really just a personality trait? Stuff like that.

>> No.7181998

I don't know if that's true, but I know for a fact that the suffix "-man" is gender neutral and really means "person."

Its silly.
But the part that annoys me more is that most of these give instructions on "how to handle an introvert"

I remember a post going around about the SJWs that like to change woman into womyn, or something along those lines, and someone was like, "You guys are just taking out what makes her a person. w2g"

>> No.7182027

I have this hilarious facebook conversation screencap that I might share with you guys later. I went to school with this girl who's a full-on SJW who posted caps of this converstaion she had with this guy in order to ~*show the world*~ that he's an evil stalker/potential rapist/mastermind patriarchal oppressor. The converstaion basically amounted to

SJW: How would you know what I think about *topic*? ARE YOU STALKING ME?!?!
Guy: haha you wish
SJW: IS THAT A THREAT?!?! 16% OF WOMEN WILL BE STALKED DURING THEIR LIFETIME HOW DARE YOU THREATEN TO STALK ME!!!!!
Guy: calm down and quit acting so crazy
SJW: DON'T TRY TO SILENCE ME!!! ALSO CALLING ME CRAZY IS ALSO SEXIST!!!
SJW: FUCK YOU FUCK YOU YOU SHOULD NEVER BE ALLOWED TO BE AROUND WOMEN

>> No.7182067

>>7181646
I agree. It's so easy and infinitely more courteous to just fucking ASK someone what pronouns they prefer if you're gonna go down that road.

>> No.7182072

>>7182008
I agree, especially since the only 'good' advice in those infographics is always just common decency. I mean, "probably does not want to have their personal space invaded by a stranger, make sure to ask first" is not an introverted-people thing, it's an everyone thing. As long as you act like you were raised properly then introverted people aren't going to have any more (legit) problems with you than anyone else.
Treating people with certain personality traits as fragile freaks of nature just to make yourself look kind and sensitive is the opposite of respectful. They're not helping.

I know someone who does that. She also uses "neutral" forms of him, her, them, their and everything else. Even when she makes a point that she's discussing cishet males. I'm chalking it up to youth for now, she's young and sheltered. Hopefully some life experience gives her a bit of perspective.

The last panel of that comic makes me laugh, because someone I follow just reblogged this, and it's like, if I'm having to worry about you thinking you're somehow more ~socially aware than me because you suddenly decided all jokes are offensive and unfunny unless they're about white cis hetero males or privileged white girls, then yeah, you've become a boring loser with no sense of humour.

>>7181646
Honestly, I think it might even be a little more offensive to assume someone goes by different pronouns. If someone is presenting themselves as clearly female, and you go up to them and ask, "Do you identify as male or female, or do you not go by either?" That's going to be incredibly rude to someone that isn't versed in Tumblr mentality. Hell, they could actually BE a biological male that is transitioning or w/e, and you put them on the spot questioning their gender like that. It just seems like a personal question, and it's invasive to just up and ask about it.
Tbh, I think Tumblr fetishizes people that are out of the 'gender binary,' with how quick they are to assume everyone is some kind of agenderfluidqueer creature, when it's not nearly as common as they make it out to be.

>> No.7182116

When I first joined Tumblr I used to give a damn about SJW stuff because I was actually frightened about pissing someone off unintentionally. Before Tumblr I had a bunch of queer friends and just referred to them all as 'they' and no one minded but then Tumblr made me super self conscious about everything I did/said until finally I just said fuck it and stopped giving a damn.

I think that's what a lot of people exposed to the SJW side feel like. You either are scared and conform because you don't want to be the next target of their hate/death threats or you reach the point where you don't give a damn and realize they're just obnoxious teens/young adults on the internet.

The SJW movement is practically a cult at this point. It's one thing to care about basic human rights and other things but it's something completely different to threaten/intimidate people to obey your absurd ideas like they're law and then incite others to threaten people who haven't done anything wrong in the eyes of the law just because they did/said something you didn't like.

Oh Anon, they don't crack jokes about white cishet scum, that would be hypocritical! I mean after all, feminism and social justice is about equality, not belittling people who happen to be considered normal in two ways that honestly should have very little to do with personal identity.

Human nature all over again: the easiest way to make someone feel better about themselves, they have to see someone else as inferior.

This isn't entirely relevant, but since /cgl/ is pretty damn intelligent sometimes I'm asking. Why do people pin so much of their personal identity on gender identification and sexuality? It almost feels like what gender you're havng sex with is more important than who you're having sex with. Enlighten me please because I kinda feel like I'm missing something obvious.

>Why do people pin so much of their personal identity on gender identification and sexuality?

1: people like to belong to a group and gain an identity whether it is true or not.
2: people often view intimacy as a completion of ones self, as it is often said someone to fill the holes in your life. This makes intimacy more focused on ones own gains.

>It almost feels like what gender you're havng sex with is more important than who you're having sex with

I'm not sure what your asking here. If I'm reading correctly your trying to imply people in this community view others mainly through there orientation. I don't think this is true but if it is I think it relates greatly to what i said before and that is identity.

Also, what the fuck is the deal with Benedict Cumberbatch? I can see how the other guys tumblr obsesses over are remotely attractive, but he looks like he's been hit in the face with a frying pan. Even after watching Sherlock I don't get it.

The thing is, they don't really exist outside of the tumblr. But hey man, to each their own.

Oh yes, I forgot those. I guess self harm and eating disorders are more of a niche thing on tumblr, I really haven't encountered much of that myself, but the other stuff I have.

The procrastination and laziness really pisses me off though. >they're playing to the commercialized side of the holiday, the stuff the kids get taught in elementary school with pilgrims and indians
>my roommate, a native, takes extreme offense to it, yells at one of our managers and starts bitching at her
>The managers talk it over and decide they won't take the headbands off because theyre not meant to offend anyone, theyre just being cute for the kids.
>Manager sends my friend an email saying this, and saying that my roommate didn't act very mature when she started yelling
>my roommate quits outright and then goes and bitches on tumblr about how the email was patronizing and that you have to fight for equality and act against stuff, not just sit around and do nothing

The same goes for skull makeup. It's fun and beautiful! But then I see butthurt posts on tumblr with people complaining about "White girls with sugar skull faces."

According to a friend's mom, part of why they do this is to earn money, since they charge for rentals at many festivals, but also because they believe Japanese youth have interest in traditional clothing and maintaining the knowledge that pertains to it. This particularly applies to the children of Japanese immigrants who have moved abroad, since there's so much pressure to westernize and fit in. The argument I've seen most often is that many of these countries developed a colonial "white is good, white can do no wrong" attitude, and so the positive reactions white people get for wearing that sort of thing around is a result of that colonial mentality carrying over into the post-colonial era of today. Some argue something along the lines of "OMG white person validating my culture" is the reason (subconscious or not) for those kinds of reactions. So white people wearing clothing belonging to another culture is reinforcing these post colonial mentalities and structures of power.

Basically it's an impossible to completely prove theory that gives SJW something to wank about because "These poor post-colonial states are so opressed and they don't even know it!" So shit they thrive on.

I've seen this, but it wasn't so bad. I'd hear someone call someone else a character's name because they really like their cosplay for theme, like "you ARE [character name] and you're awesome", but it never gets much worse than that.

Anyways, I like this thread, because oh boy, do I have a lot to say about Tumblr. It can be really cool sometimes. It can be. But most of the things I read are fucking ridiculous. The whole mentality that grades aren't important and school isn't important bugs me, for one. I mean, right now I'm struggling with school, and I don't like it. Yeah, it's nice to not do work and putting things off until later, but I can only do that for so long. Tumblr teaches this mentality that "oh, you don't HAVE to do that, it's okay to laze away your days". I mean, I get that it's stressful and difficult, but it's kind of necessary. We have to deal with these things.

Then you have the issue of "privilege". If you're a guy, if you're straight, if you're religious, if you're white, then you're the devil! ...apparently. The site tends to devolve into circlejerking and hostility, yet ironically claiming to be accepting of all and being a hugbox. But only if you're "oppressed" or a "minority"! Basically saying, "We accept everyone! Except these people, and these people, and these people..." and the further removed you are from societal views, somehow, the better. I get that some societal things are bullshit, but come on.

And don't even get me started on the fandom bullshit. I've had a neutral opinion towards Supernatural, thinking, okay I guess it's just a show about these dudes who hunt demons, sounds alright, but no, every single fucking post I read about it is how "oh Destiel is canon!" and how people even wrote fucking petitions to make it so, boycotting the show because apparently Castiel kisses a girl or something. The butthurt was delicious to see, though.

tl;dr: Tumblr can be cool sometimes. Most times it's pretty twisted.

I don't like to wear Christian stuff simply because I personally don't want to, but I wouldn't say it's "problematic". Don't like it, don't wear it. The reason we don't often have other religious imagery on lolita stuff is because the designs are more difficult to romanticize. Though I think a menorah print for the holidays would be pretty.

I mean saying that religious imagery in clothing promotes oppression by a religion is like claiming that The Hunchback of Notre Dam promotes oppression because it takes place in a church.

Should we just rip all the churches down too because they promote oppression? And while we're at it let's just destroy literally every symbol for every country. Never again shall I wear tartan because Scotland probably fucked with someone at some time.

When friends have found out I'm gay I always have an "omggg why didn't you tell me???" reaction.
Because I don't consider myself being gay a key part of my identity I don't feel it necessary to inform anyone. I'm of the opinion that your gender identity and sexuality is only the business of yourself and the person you are/want to be in a relationship with
Announcing to the world at 13 that you are a pansexual, poly-amorous genderqueer is full on retarded. I think people do need a chance to grow up and discover who they are rather than slapping on which ever label sounds the most edgy

Your sexuality literally has no effect on me, so why are you putting it out there so much? I guess I just never went through that I'M HERE I'M QUEER phase that so much of Tumblr seems to be stuck in, so it's a really bizarre thing to me. I was in class and this girl was doing a presentation for us. She wrote 'women' as 'womyn', which I've seen before so it didn't bother me. She then proceeded to write 'person' as 'persyn'. The word 'person' to my knowledge comes from 'persona' which in latin means an actor's mask or something like that. And somewhere along the line it turned into 'person'. It has nothing to do with sons and daughters. There was no reason other than sheer faggotry that she had to write it like that.

Let me start out with, this thread is glorious.

On the subject of the whole super-sensitive racism BS of tumblr, there is one race that they are totally ok with not only encouraging stereotypes and misappropriating the history and culture, but defending their bullshit aggressively... There is the Rom, Also known as "Gypsies".

As an ethnic Rom, raised speaking Romani as a first language, and having gone on roam with my kompania in Europe,I can tell you that tumblr tards get up in arms and incredibly defensive when you say simple things like "Not all Rom are thieves" or "Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dome movie is not a good source of documentation on Romani culture".

I once answered a post asking "why does my gypsy friend get angry when I call her a gypsy?". I politely gave her the entomology and history of the word, being a corruption of the term "Egyptian" (where they were mistakenly thought to hail from), and how we get many negative words related to it, including "being gypped". I told her how we as a culture equate the word as black people equate the word "nigger", and how we are politely trying to change the common usage of it.

She launched into a 12 paragraph rant about how she could use it however she wanted, and how I am what is wrong with my race, and how dare I use the word "nigger" even as a comparison because I am not black.

I like tumblr for the pictures and occasional cool link.

Personally, I've usually come across two sides to Tumblr's mental disorder shenanigans. One, is that self-diagnosing is perfectly acceptable. This one lady said that she went to several doctors and all of them told her she wasn't on the autistic spectrum, and boy did she throw a fit - I can only assume she wanted an explanation or excuse for her behavior.
The other, I don't even think they realize they're making fun of people with asperger's, when they reblog aspies' okcupid pictures with fedoras and cringey quotes. They write it off as white males because the word "friendzone" is so frequently used in the aspies' profiles and shit.
Not that I'm not guilty of seeking out cringe threads myself, but dang, it's just the discrepancy of the mindset.

I had a friend from high school go full SJW and I, admittedly, monitored her Tumblr from time to time because it was just ridiculous. She was on there less than a year before she turned against parts of the crowd that demonized white girls, being thin, whatever she was. She did mention more than once that going on Tumblr actually made her anxious (she actually had a disorder and was on meds). But I think she eventually had a full-on breakdown -- one day she just picked 30 fights with strangers on any post she came across and then deleted her account. It doesn't sound too bad but it was pretty nuts to witness it

He got pissy about us ever referring to him as transgendered if it ever came up instead of just outright stating he was a man because boo cis-normativity, and a gay man at that. He started dating a cis-hetero female about a month after he freaked out on us for not calling him a gay man. I just...I don't know. I want to support him, but he latches onto different people and ideas so easily that I'm terrified that he'll someday grow out of it and realize he's unhappy or something. Ironically, these posts followed some posts they had made a few days before bitching about how their mom didn't trust them to be alone with that person because she was afraid something was going to happen. The poster insisted that the mom was so "omg overly-paranoid" and "mom just shut up nothing is going to happen" and then all of a sudden they've done it and after that every other post is tagged stuff like "Casual reminder- I had sex!" and other crap.

Dude, yeah that's great, but why the hell would you wanna tell a ton of strangers that you just lost your virginity? No one cares. I could never tell the world that honestly. It's such a private thing in my opinion...

I know English and French people who would never, ever consider themselves racist because they have no problem with POCs, but if you get them started on Irish Travellers/the Irish in general/Roma/Italians, the stuff they'll come out with is absolutely horrifying at times. Especially with Travellers and Roma, apparently normal people seem to think it's perfectly okay to believe an entire section of people deserve to die.

Its a corruption of the word "Cadian", which in itself a corruption of "Arcadian". As in Arcadia, New France, in Canada.

The Cajun are the French from Canada, that moved south and settled in Louisiana. Cajun French is actually one of three types of spoken French in LA, including Creole and Coloniaux.

Phew thank god i can go into detail here since the person doesn't go on cgl.
> Have friend i hadn't seen in a while, hear that she has gone a bit SJW in the intervening months.
> She reaches out and asks if im doing anything that friday night.
>Well yes i am: Im working as a muso at a local cafe but im only working until 10 if she wants to come and hang and then we can have a drink.
> She says it sounds like great fun and we agree that she will come along after work.
When i say that i work as a muso i mean that i am a member of a band that gets employed by this cafe and a couple others frequently, so im on the clock and earning a check.
> Go to cafe, start playing.
> Finally get a break at about 8.30pm and leave stage for a bathroom break. Realise my friend still isn't there.
> Check phone.
> "ANON! Jo has had a panic attack and couldn't come!" (from her enabler bf)
> Send back "Oh that sucks! I hope shes feeling better soon!"
> Go out drinking with bandmates after we finish feeling a little dejected but ya know: Sometimes people have these issues.

Next day.

> log into FB and the first thing i get is a string of msgs (its like she was waiting for me to log in?) about how im a shitty friend and that i didn't deserve her because i couldn't give her the "Attention i deserve".
> Woah. What?
> Anon you should have come to my place and looked after me!
> I was at work so no thats not the way things were ever going to play out.
> She claims i tried to "Shame her" and her (up until that point unmentioned) mental illness and that i was a horrible person.
> I tell her, in the nicest possible way, that it might be better to find a more appropriately trained person to care for her as i have no training in regards to her illness and can't help her.
> She continues to rant about how everyone is victimising her. I stop replying.
> Find her blog on tumblr: Its FULL of weird fetish and SJW stuff... it seems to be related to a bunch of friends she hangs around with now.

>>The funniest thing about "cultural appropriation!!!1" posts is that half the time people who make those posts have no fucking clue what they're talking about and are just stupid white people themselves.

Pretty much. Except a lot of them self-identify as Native/Latina/(insert minority here) because they found out some incredibly distant relative belonged to that group. Completely forgetting that many of them have what they call 'passing privilege', meaning that although they identify as Navajo or whatever, people are going to look at them and think 'white girl', thereby giving them white privilege. It's something they demonize people of the gay community about. I have a gay male friend who puts up with this shit on the regular. He was literally kneecapped, had to go through extensive physical therapy and still walks with a limp, but apparently he needs to 'shut the fuck up and sit the fuck down' when it comes to his experiences with homophobia because he 'passes'.

Anyway. I think on the part of some of these tumblrites who do this shit, they're just eager to distance themselves from whitey as much as possible. So they make 'lol i hate white people tbh' jokes and posts about cultural appropriation. Some of them even claim that white people have no culture.

All in all, theirs is a pretty ignorant, hypocritical and destructive mindset. And they are never wrong; ever. Even if you come up with a rational, logical argument, they come up with these mental gymnastics to twist things around so they're right. Or post a sassy gif.

I like to think that my blog has none of this horrid stuff on it, but you're allowed to disagree with me of course. I'm not going to get butthurt if you do.

Anyway... Phew. What a long read. Tumblr can indeed be quite insane. A lot of the stuff brought up here drives me nuts as well. Some of the stuff that I see on that site boggles my mind. A lot of the time I hold my tongue because I don't wanna offend people, but the headaches I get sometimes are just too much.

I took a hiatus from the site a while back and felt like I didn't miss a single thing besides brainless misspelled memes that really aren't that funny.

It's really addictive, but man alive... if you follow the wrong blogs it can just be toxic as all get out. I mostly stick around there for art and to keep up with my friends.

Apparently there are people on Tumblr who call themselves "trans-ethnic". It's where someone thinks they should have been born as another race or into another culture. I saw a screencap once of this white girl's profile saying she was a "trans-nigger" and that she "could use the word 'nigger' because she identifies as one of them".
And get this, they actually get mad at people who aren't "trans-ethnic" for "cultural appropriation".
This is where I decided to do some Wikipedia-ing
"Cultural appropriation is the adoption of some specific elements of one culture by a different cultural group. It describes acculturation or assimilation"

A tumblr user would say:

like woah man. Calm down. There are very few things that warrent that much excitement. Also applies to SJW stuff too, but it strikes me as weirder when it's just with seemingly normal conversations like the above.

Tumblr's mentality on skepticism and doubting is totally fucked up, too. You could say you identify as a billion things (i'm a othersexual quadgender pronouns are xiddly diddly or something), which may or may not be true, but people would eat that up and believe you right away. Part of the problem, I think, is the general perception of sororities and fraternities in general. They all have their pledges about support and community and leadership or whatever, and that's what they're SUPPOSED to be.
I have a friend that was in a sorority all through college and absolutely loved it for the friends she made and the networking opportunities, and she can't stand it when people stereotype sorority girls as being barely legal idiots living in sin and swimming in booze. I've met several of her sisters just casually and, yeah. They're all classically 'academic' girls that are just really friendly.
I guess the way it's represented is the problem, since that just attracts all the wrong people to Greek life and perpetuates everything. I can't give a much better perspective than that since, fuck yeah, my college is too small for that shit.

So, yeah. I understand where you're coming from, but this shit is a real problem to the actual people in the sororities and fraternities that joined them for, y'know. The right reasons.

I really miss the days when people didn't fake this shit so much for attention and there was a lot more validity to any label anyone wanted to adopt. Because, damn the way demi was explained to me, before I knew anyone EVER say they were, was like you would have to be emotionally connected to someone for YEARS before you'd even start to maybe have sexual attraction to them. English here, I can confirm this. I hate the way travellers get treated now (although it's certainly gotten better); people don't even seem to understand that's it's actually racism. Not even necessarily hatred, but complete ignorance at times. My friend is a Northern Irish Protestant, and since moving to London he's been called Southern Irish, everyone assumes he's Catholic, and you can see the staff on the tube getting nervous when he walks around with a big backpack.

Honestly, there's no-one white people hate more than other white people. For example, in my country the majority of people hate the Polish (never mind about what Eastern European country they actually come from), the French, the Americans, the Scottish, the Irish, the Welsh and the Spanish. I think a lot of people are staring to hate the Chinese (which also includes anyone who looks slightly Asian like Japanese, Korean, etc) because they're "comin' over 'ere and takin' our jobs". Oh, and obviously anyone from the middle East ("pakis") are all Muslim and all terrorists.

I think the only ethnic group almost no-one has a problem with is black people (I know that covers a lot of ethnic groups, but we don't have any where I'm from so I've got no idea).

I'm so fucking glad I'm not the only person pissed with tumblr's mentality of "love yourself no matter what". It's one thing learning to accept things you couldn't possibly change, but embracing laziness and bad life choices because "lol that's just who I am/I just wanna be happy deal with it~~"? Treating mental disorders (self-diagnosed ofc) and "anxiety attacks" as a cheap ticket out of any uncomfortable situation?

Apparently constant complacency and no challenges will totally make you a healthy adjusted person and not a mediocre underachiever that can't deal with lightest stress.

It's not your fault you're unskilled and unprepared, it's perfectly fine to be morbidly obese, it's the world that should learn to cope with you, not the other way around. Ugggghhhhh

That way people could blacklist the crap. The person of course made a post saying "I don't think it's right for people to overlook these issues" but then they started tagging the stuff anyway because they had a lot of followers and didn't want to bother them if they didn't want to be bothered.

Why can't more people do that? Or heck, just tag their posts in general, social justice or not?

On a somewhat similar note, I saw a post that had a bunch of guidelines for simple cosplay stuff: don't buy Party City wigs that are low quality, avoid using 3D movie glasses for characters with glasses, and so on. Basic stuff that people should know already, but there are people who don't so it was good to lay down the basics.

Of course, people bitched and bitched and BITCHED. "hurr ur so elitist!! people can cosplay however they want!!" So many people sent the OP of the post so much backlash. Hell, I even gave in my two cents but there was one stubborn fuck who refused to believe that we weren't being elitist. Even though we actually weren't. They were simply guidelines, and the OP of the post even stated right at the beginning: "there is no one way to cosplay, do it however you wish, these are simply guidelines and you don't have to follow them" but no, apparently that means you're a big meanie elitist.
