Wig thread? Wig thread.

Where can I find a cute, medium-length loliable wig with some body/curls, that fits a medium/large sized head? Most taobao/ebay wigs I've tried have been way too tight around my head. Pic kind of related, more curls would be great though.

How do I de-friz a lolita wig (from GLW)? Its not super bad, but its kinda messy and I don't know how to make it better.

All my google results say boil it, but I want to keep the slight curl and I think boiling it will ruin that. I'm just really at a loss...

My question is similar to this anon's.
I have the Nicki from Arda (http://arda-wigs.com/products/nicki)), and I want to get rid of some of the volume in the curls. I wear classic, so that big frizzy mess is nagl. I've been keeping it in the bag in hopes that'll flatten it a bit, but it doesn't keep.

I have and while I would not say they are perfect, if you need a cosplay wig, their normal ones are okay.
I have one I wear for daily use as well and its not too shiny, but its also not going to fool anyone who does hair or wears wigs/weaves. Feels nice though, does minimal tangling.

The shipping on mine was alright too. Took about 5 days (would have taken 3 but there was a mishap on my mail service's part).

How do you determine the right wig colour to choose?

I need to get a wig that's blonde. I'm pale with dark hair so you'd think I've got cool undertones, but I find that coral lipsticks look better on me so I probably have warm undertones. I can look anything from healthy goth to unwell depending on the light. What should I go for?

I've been debating about this for awhile and need some outside opinions-- I'm cosplaying Hibiki Ganaha from The iDOLM@STER and am having trouble picking a base wig to work off of.

The bottom picture has the type of build where the wig is built to be pulled towards the high ponytail, and the top picture is just your typical clip-on ponytail.

If you've worked with high ponytails like this before-- which one did you work with, and what pros/cons came of it? If you've worked with both, was one easier to deal with than the other?

Do a base medium wig and style it into a ponytail and then get a clip extention. it's so much easier then styling a long wig into a ponytail. Also, you in Cali? I've been wanting to do a photoshoot with my Takane and a Hibiki since forever

My question is similar but I don't know what would look better. I wanna cosplay Koto from Kyousogiga and I'm wondering if I should get a short base wig and sew extentions in or buy a long wig and thin the hell out of it for the ponytail.

Question: Does anyone here wear wigs daily with casual wear?
My hair is kind of boring. It's wavy/curly, mid-length and naturally sandy blonde, and I put product in it everyday to keep the frizz down. I want to do more interesting stuff with it, but it's pretty damaged from me constantly straightening it for 5+ years with no heat protector. I'm thinking about buying a few wigs, some natural and some fun-colored, but I don't know if it's a dumb thing to do. Will people think I'm an ass for wearing a blonde wig one day, a black one the next, and a pink one on the next day? So seagulls, I need a bit of advice on a wig I bought please. I posted a few weeks back about buying from an unheard of comapny called harukaze wigs. They had the most accurate rise kujikawa wig (persona4) so I took the plunge and took a chance. The wig arrived ridiculously fast, along with a nice wig tote, some catalogues, and an origami crane. The wig had the 2 attachable pigtails, and the main section, and if anything was a slightly more accurate colour than their stock photo showed........but that's where the good news ends. On the main section, there were two uneven buns which I can only assume were an attempt at the wrap around loops at the base of the pigtails. My assumption is that your suppose to clip the pigtail behind, fix the bun into a ponytail and wrap it around the base, but if so how do I seamlessly get it to stay in place? The second problem, which is also visible in the picture (sorry about the shit tier paint job btw) is that the wig itself is made for someone with a head the size of a planet, which makes it buckle/wrinkle and stick out at the back part of the skull. Is there a good way to pull in a wig so it doesn't buckle? It's not really worth my time sending it back as the cost of postage to send it back is nearly as much as what I paid for the wig so any advice on fixing it would be greatly appreciated

That's honestly the only reason I'm getting into wearing obviously different wigs daily. I was concerned about people wondering what the hell I was doing, going from long to short to black to brown to blonde every other day, but when you're black, no one seems to give any fucks.

I salvaged the bangs on a New Look Alicia XXL wig that I cut too bluntly. What I did was pull more fiber forward and heat train it until it would stay forward. I poured hot water over and over onto the top, combed it forward and left it to dry. Once I had more hair to work with, I layered the bangs with a razor and used thinning shears on the blunt part underneath to hide it. It worked like a dream!

Pic related. The left is (obviously) the blunt cut side and the right is with the new bangs I cut.

Can you curl wigs without heat?
I got this straight wig because it was the perfect shade even when I needed a wavy one. I don't want to get a curling iron just to use it once (plus they're usually expensive were I live), so is there any other method?
The wig I got is heat resistant, if that makes a difference. I tried your average rollers but they didn't do shit.
>noob
>pic kinda related, looking to achieve that kind of loose curls/waves

>> No.7223353

>>7223343
Synthetic wigs are made of plastic strings that are heated to extend the length of hair. The manufacturers bend the plastic to create curls and waves. Using curlers and low heat is a simple way to curl wigs without paying for more wigs and allows you to make hairstyles to fit your style.

Instructions.

1
Place a dry wig on top of the wig head. Using a wig head makes applying curlers and brushing the hair easier.

2
Brush hair with a metal bristle brush. Brushing the hair removes tangles and lint and makes tighter curls.

3
Wrap strips of hair around curlers. Start with at least 2 inches of hair or expand the width depending on how big you want your curls to be. A smaller width of hair creates smaller and tighter curls and a wider width of hair creates larger and loose curls. Begin at the ends of the hair and wrap the hair around the curler until the curler reaches close to the scalp. Wrap hair tightly around the curler.

4
Secure hair with a wig pin. Push the pin into hair through the curler.

5
Repeat steps 3 and 4 until all the hair is wrapped in curlers.

6
Blow dry hair to set the curls. Blow dry hair on the lowest setting to avoid burning hair. Blow dry for 10 to 30 minutes or until the hair is warm to the touch. The length of time may vary.

7
Remove the curlers from the hair and style.

Hot water is probably better. Put your wig up in big rollers or something made for waves. Then you just pour really hot water all over it and let it dry.

If you're confident in your wig cutting skills, I'd actually go for the Magnum XL and cut it to fit. The Magnum is a bit shorter on the sides and back than what your character has but if you don't mind it should be alright.

Arda's new stock photo of the Magnum is extremely misleading, unless they changed the wig to be a bit longer, it's way shorter on a head that it looks. The stock photo when you pick "Pumpkin" is the closest to what I have.

I have an undercut + taro colored hair so I wear wigs a lot. Now that it's winter I wear a wig pretty much every day (because walking around with 60% of my head buzzed in the bleak northern winters just ain't happening). I usually wear the same brown one every day because it's my absolute favorite, but people usually don't react too much when they see my real hair or see me in a different wig. Sometimes people are a little surprised or confused, but they usually get it if you explain that you don't want to damage your hair by dyeing it every time you want to try a new color.

Also, wigs aren't as expensive an investment as you might think. My favorite wig was $15 on eBay and it's still fine after a year of almost daily wear. Unless you jump in without looking at any reviews or customer pictures, you probably won't have a hard time finding a realistic looking synthetic wig.

Make sure to get the areas that will be most prone to friction and movement: the tips and any parts rubbing against your back and shoulders.

Do this outside or in a well-ventillated area, and make sure your wig has a similar area to stay while the product dries.

yes, I love them they are like the Arda of Taobao. I got that wig and its pretty much just like the picture depending on the lighting its either more orange or more brown.

what color would you suggest for Anna from Frozen? In some products her hair is orange and some other its between blonde or brown, any help?

I'd say go for Ginger Blonde

I'd say warm light brown is your best bet.

Seconding warm light brown. Pic related, their copper red is too dark, and Ive owned their pumpkin, its REALLY orange.

I think either one of these would look great. They are very similar

I'd go warm light brown, I have one of their wigs in Dark Copper Red and it's way too dark and red for what you'd want. Pumpkin is bright orange like Merida.

Any advice on combining two long wigs? I'm hoping there's a way to do it that isn't weft by weft. Just want to add a lot more volume at the back. Most of the tutorials I've seen have been for stacking 2 short wigs.

You need to literally remove the wefts from one wig and add it to the other. Sorry you're too lazy to do that.

I'm assuming you don't want to sew the wefts in, as it is a lot of sewing. Do what I do, use krazy glue instead. I've done this for both short and long wigs and haven't had a problem. Don't cheap out on your glue, though.

What is the best way to fully straigthen a curly wig? Using an Iron straightener or using hot water?

>> No.7240929

>>7240927
I use both. Hot water treatment times two, then flat iron on low heat.

What do you guys think about buying prestyled wigs? Pic related. Not sure if I should style a base wig and add an extension or buy this one.

I'm needing some help finding a good wig for Mirai. I feel like the wig all the way on the left would work best but the color is slightly off. However, it has the cut I want. I'm pretty horrible at styling a wig, though I'm willing to try.

Also, I tried looking on taobao but didn't really find much of a selection there, so I grabbed these pics from ebay.

If you dont want to sew the red in, that works (though ryukos hair is black?) but its not going to come styled like that.

Thanks! And yeah, I had planned to do that. I also just found this wig on etsy, which is a better color, but I think I'll still go with the first one.

How would someone go about making a spiked ponytail? Pic related, I'm planning on making a gijinka of her and I'd love to replicate the ponytail.
I was thinking of just getting a regular clip on ponytail, turn it upside down, and then cut and hairspray it. Would that work?

Nah, not too lazy to do it, just hoping there might be an easier way. Thanks for the advice anyway!

Have you considered Sandy Brown? It's less yellow than Ginger Blonde and less red than Warm Light Brown, but still has tinges of each. Pic related, it's the one in the gallery that showcases the color best without ugly flash.

>> No.7243565

>>7243554
If you want to use Arda specifically, get a Rocky in your base color and short wefts in your fauxhawk color, sew them into the top. Since you'd be triming the wefting pretty short, look into making sewn or no-sew wefts with your trimings.
