/cgl/ - Cosplay & EGL

There is a Mr. Hippo as well who is going as Teemo from League of Legends too. Although his costume is not quite done yet. LoL just gave me the ideas for the costumes, not here promoting the game. So LoLhate need not apply. :P

Once I finish Mr. Hippo's costume, I'll be taking pictures of the two of them together. And then they'll be helping me hand out candy to all the kids on Halloween. Need to be careful with the two of them around the candy though.. they're both chubs and are likely to scarf it all if left alone with it. :\

Also, although probably obvious I figured I'd mention. I did not make the Hippo's themselves. I've had them since childhood. Everything else was hand made by me.. Got the wig at Wal-Mart and cut to size/style and used product to keep it in place. She loves it, she refuses to take her costume off. :P

It took about a full day of shopping to find all the right materials, and another day to assemble her costume. With her impatiently watching over my shoulder of course. :P

Luckily she was able to keep her excitement in check as there was a lot of test fitting needed to get the costume just right. Now I have to get hopping on finishing Mr. Hippo's costume, as he is extremely jealous and can get sort of moody. ;)

This will be their first time celebrating Halloween, can't wait to see how it turns out.

You didn't happen to make any sort of pattern or tutorial, did you?

Unfortunately no :P I didn't expect anyone else to want to dress up their stuffed Hippo's as well based off of my design. Everyone was just made freehand and fitted and adjusted to her figure piece by piece.

I'm also in the process of making a sort of set or stage for picture taking purposes for when Mr. Hippo's costume is complete. So they can pose in a more League of Legends orientated landscape.

This is the very early stages of it though, so bear with me. :P

Oh man, I remember trying to get Mr. Bear Bear out of his hoodie.
It kept getting stuck and he refused to take it off for me to wash it, but it was dirty.
It's like, he'd been wearing it for months, did all kinds of PT in it, and was in the sand for so long.
I finally got it washed and now he just pouts at the clean smell.

Mr. Bear Bear is alone (other than me), but he likes it, more attention. He's very lazy though. If he isn't sleeping (taking up my comfy pillow!) he's lounging on the bed watching me play video games, or sitting online. We met a while back and have been inseperable ever since. He went through BCT with me (they kept him in the closet with my civillian clothes, how rude!) and was there through AIT. I got him a little army shirt and he has his ow uniform somewhere around here. Honestly, he has a little wardrobe, but he only ever wears that hoodie. I think I might make him a little Hannibal costume. I have plenty of leather to make the mask, and the fabric isn't really a big problem.

Yeah Mr. Bear Bear is a great snuggler, and he loves conventions. He likes seeing all the costumes. I might try to make him a kodona outfit to match some of my dresses at some point so we can twin it up.

I suggested to Mrs. Hippo that she start exercising more and that she should come on a bike ride with me... This is not what I had in mind.

This is basically what started the idea for the costumes. Decided to throw my Teemo hat onto Mr. Hippo and then made him a little dart gun quick to see how it looked on him. This then escalated to the Tristana costume. Teemo's finished costume will be much more along the line of Tristana's as far as detail and custom made pieces. As opposed to the premade hat.

The pictures are only on two boards right now. I originally posted them on /v/ and was directed here and to /toy/ as a more appropriate place to post. So I did just that. And the thread on /v/ has since 404'd. Just trying to show some of the work I've done and show off some pictures for those who are interested. Well, I have one. I moved a bit ago so my favorite stuffies are at my parents house. This one has some cute sentiment though. I work as a nanny and I took the kids to the Aquarium of the Pacific. One of the kids and I both got the same stuffed otter and decided they were twins and named them cute names. I don't remember it right now, bit it was an adorable moment.

I was making a backdrop to go along with the landscape I'm making, but unfortunately it didn't turn out quite like I wanted it to. I'll likely try redoing it. I was hoping for the pictures, they would be enclosed in LoL scenery. I'm not 100% on what the backdrop should be of. Dark Sky, Treeline, try to work in recognizable things into the backdrop such as a tower, one of the bases etc etc. Ideas welcome

And it turns out my lamp makes my shitty webcam look like it has some horror filter.
But anyway, it's a picture, haha.

So this was my first attempt at a backdrop. I was trying to create something simple that would just work at enclosing the photo area off. But as you can see.. the paint did not react as I wanted it to with the paper and it definitely doesn't look right. That's why I feel like something more specific with trees etc may be better. Let me know what you think.

That's really nice! I don't play LoL so I can't really say what to add, but you need to balance it out. The left side and the backdrop look really plain compared to the front right.

You've inspired me to make something for Cinnamoroll. I couldn't afford one of the special edition ones with an already made costume so I want to make him something. Maybe a witch hat and a cape.

I'm basically wanting like a giant shoebox diorama setup for it.. I just don't feel like the backdrop fits with how it is now. I'm contemplating painting additional scenery that may flow with the ground onto the backdrop. Like have the lane or rock trail extend into the backdrop sort of thing.

OP Here. (I guess I'll start doing that to confirm who I am, though I didn't realize it was needed.) Anyway. So I found this picture and am going to paint a new backdrop with this sort of concept. I'll probably make my own changes such as maybe a monster or some creep in there somewhere but the general look I'll be going for is this. Going to paint it in a way that I can have the backdrops stone path line up with the path the Hippo's will be on.

Thanks! I really appreciate it. Unfortunately guys I don't have much else to offer you as of right now.. I'm out of Hippo pics (That are readily available at least.) and have much work to do to finish this lil' project. When I finish up my landscape and backdrop, as well as Mr. Hippo's costume (Which will have to be soon as he's getting rather impatient.) I will come back and update you guys and show you how it all turned out. I'm not sure how to feel about this thread, but all things considered the craftsmanship looks quite nice. I would put a coat or two of modge podge on the prop bits to give them some protection.
