as far as supporting cosplayers go, why? It's like >>7159939 said. If they can't afford their own hobby, maybe they shouldn't be in it.

At least video game's fun, and you know people put lot of work on official posters and the money does go to the artist worked on it. Cosplay photo posters do none of that, and it's such a shallow purchase.

I don't get the print hate, honestly.

If I really like a cosplayer, I wouldn't be opposed to buying a poster or print just as a pat on the back for doing a good job. To me its not too dissimilar to supporting a local business I adore.

I personally think the idea of "cosplayers only sell prints to force other people to pay for their hobby" is a bit asinine.

Granted, I'd never buy shit from Nigri or Yaya because they're toxic to the community and don't deserve any back-pats...

I have a large enough following to sell prints, and I've gotten requests for it. But I know if I sell them people will think i'm begging for money, which sucks.

It only bothers me when people sell prints for super high prices. Like Traci Hines and her $25 eight by tens, because putting that much value on a small picture of your face is ridiculous.

You know what cosplayers get for dieting, exercising, and spending dozens of hours working on a costume? They get a healthy body and a custom made, one of a kind costume. That's their payment.

Cosplayers aren't movie stars or models or celebrities in any significant way. They don't deserve compensation for choosing to walk around in a skimpy costume during a large public event of their own free will.

If there's anything wrong with cosplay, it's this sudden upswing of this "professional" paid cosplayer bullshit.

Your cosplay is shit and no one should be paying you for your shitty photos of you sucking at being a human being just because you think you're hot shit.

>> No.7161784

It doesn't sit well with me, but then again even posters of celebrities don't appeal to me.

That and because most cosplayers sell prints as a way to fund their cosplays like mentioned by >>7159939. If you can't afford your cosplays and have to sell a photo of your face to your "fans" for $10 a print, you shouldn't be cosplaying. You're not getting any of my money for an average picture of yourself in cosplay that's available on the internet.

Asian idols/cosplayers are big business and viable only if...

1. they promote themselves as being single and virtuous
2. fanservice, playing up to their fan's perceived "image"
3. staying attractive and being able to differentiate themselves from other girls
4. being professional, meaning they should realize their image is a product just like modeling and all that goes along with it. (makeup, exercise, attire, etc)

I think some of nigri's prints are actually pretty wall-worthy, like that Lollipop Chainsaw one in OP. It's just that, in addition to the costume, the photograph, setting, and composition all have to fit the series well so it actually looks like a carefully-constructed image and not just "hot nerd in a costume."

Some of Nigri's prints aren't bad, most of PikminLink's photos are really well-constructed/shot, Kamui's photos aren't bad either, and even BelleChere has a couple of pictures that look kinda cool and use good settings. On the other hand, I feel like a lot of Yaya's pictures are really boring/plain and are really just pinups rather than visual stories, which is what I'd want in a cosplayer print.

Whenever this dude starts selling prints, let me know, because I will buy all of them.

Personally, Flaming has achieved my "Take my money" level. Her fan service is out of control. On her Yoko cosplay post, she was like, "I went to the con by MYSELF, worked on my cosplay by MYSELF and didn't even ask my DAD for help". Intentionally or unintentionally she gave off this image of being single and a daddy's girl. Holy...shut up and just take my money.

Personafied on the other hand is appealing to me because she's an attractive girl that cosplays unflattering characters. Then she'll do a hot cosplay. I guess it's the anticipation of her hot cosplay that keeps me following her. And she's so goofy, "cosplay is my life, I starve myself to fit character" <face palm>.
