There's a lot of variation from brand to brand and style to style. I've, personally, had the best luck with things from Elle MacPherson, since they seem to work well with how I'm shaped and where my boobs sit on my chest. Other people might have better luck with, say, Triumph or Chantelle or La Perla.

Definitely agreeing with you here. Each shop seems to do their own slight variations on sizing. Best thing to do is go into shops and try them on, then you can see where to adjust. No joke, I have bras that range from a 30B to a 28E. It all depends on the style of bra (plunge, padded push up, balcony etc) and the shop itself.

That can't be right, for each inch of difference between band and breast size is 1 cup. For 32" band and 33.5" breast would be 1.5" difference, meaning B cup. The calculator also says right there that it doesn't work for people smaller than a C.

But it isn't, we've just been misled into believing D and DD is somehow super huge since it's the largest cup size in most chain stores. Stores which also use the outdated method of adding 3-4 additional inches to your underbust measurement (which of course is taken OVER your clothing, laughable) to get your band size.

No, that's not why. It's because of the wording. D isn't a cup size, it's the band size. The number is the size of the cups. It's really due to the fact that people say cup size as band size which makes people associate the band size with the size of the breasts when most times it's not actually the same.
I recently got resized from an A to B and people's reaction to it was to ask me if my boobs grew, even when I told them that I had been wearing the wrong band size the whole time. The cup size obviously changes with the band size but 38DD is going to have bigger breasts than 34DD.

I think you're really, really confused about how band and cup size work. I kind of get what you're saying - that cup size fluctuates along with band size. But the "number" is definitely not the size of the cups. a 38A isn't going to have bigger boobs (in terms of actual large-ness, not cup) than a 36D. Cup size does ideally refer to the size of breast (difference between under/overbust average and full bust measurement). It just gets complicated because breasts don't occur on a flat plane, the the tissue is flexible, and as band size fluctuates so does the point on the body/bresat at which the cup "starts".

It is possible. US consumer frequently where much to high a band size. (5 inches wouldn't be unheard of). The brand you purchase from might just be trying to compensate for these accepted "mistakes" by altering their US size to reflect what people think they should be wearing (even if it's incorrect).

Fellow artist here, that is a ridiculous price. I don't charge more than $20 for a background-less normal sized character let alone a damn chibi, they go for $10.

Also, artistically this isn't that great, the shading tones are off, the colors are dull and there's not any since of light or anything. It's an okay picture, and the style is cute I'll give it that, but it's not really nice.

I thought the same thing, but it was correct on mine. If you've been wearing a smaller cup for years it can actually squish a lot of breast tissue over into your armpit area. Try getting one size down and wearing it for a few weeks, the tissue might migrate back. My boobs were weird and barely boob shaped because I had worn a B all my life, until I got a D a few months ago and now my boobs are actually filling it out and have a proper round shape now. Because frequently the specialty shops were either insanely busy, or the only one that wasn't the woman was terrifyingly creepy and gropey, and it puts me off. I have read every guide I've seen linked on /cgl/ and haunt the threads that show up until they 404, hoping to find someone who has a similar problem.
I'm sorry that I acted rude to you, its just really frustrating and I keep being to,d the same thing over and over and it just doesn't work. I'd seriously love someone to help but since I can't exactly post my boobs on this board and I doubt you live nearby, I'm not sure how to do it. I do the measuring exactly as every guide I've seen says. Measure underbust (its actually 37-38), bend over, measure bust (checking in mirror that its straight across back and not angled). I even measure again standing and its the same. As I said my boobs do not slope, they stick straight fuckin out and they're all triangular and freakish and I hate them. There is no "migrated tissue" anywhere, the band can't really go any smaller without biting into my skin, and a 38D/36DD tends to gap at the top as it is.

This. I spent a good chunk of my teens wearing awkwardly fitted B/C cups because that's what Sears and VS had tried to tell me I was. When I was finally fitted by a super legit specialty lingerie shop, I found out I had DDs with a teensy band size (once I finished "filling out" in my early 20s, I went up to DDD). I almost refused to believe it, but it was amazing how much better I felt as soon as I started wearing the right bras. All of my clothes looked better/less frumpy around the chest, my boobs didn't hurt, I could exercise again, my bras last longer, etc.

So. Girls. Find a nice specialty shop, or go to a high end department store like Nordstrom's. Please get fitted properly. Your breasts will thank you.

I used to think I was 80C (... I guess that's 36C?), went and got measured and boom, I was a 75DD. Nowadays after puberty's all gone, I have to get myself 75F/H (depends on the shape of the bra).

Without a bra, honestly, my boobs don't look that big, but I just can't fit a D or a DD on anymore and I always have to prove my point to my friends when we go shopping as they won't believe I use F/H. Sigh. And then they themselves refuse to get properly measured and fitted, although a couple of them obviously have the completely wrong set of bras.

it's simple:

get a measuring tape
measure around your ribcage, right under where your breasts connect to your chest (underbust)

this is your band size, and it should be a Snug fit of the tape

Next, you want to take several full bust measurements, where you pull the tape around the biggest part of your bust, try standing up and try bending over as well i fyou have meaty/saggy breasts. You can add these up and take the average for your full bust if needed.

The difference between these two numbers is your cup size. For example : you measure 28 underbust and 32 full bust, your bra size is a 28D. Every 1 inch of difference is a cup size additional. 1- A 2 - b 3 - C etc.

You want to make sure your measuring tape is parallel to the floor by the way, don't let it fall down your body as you measure because it'll give you a measurement too small.

Then you want to go to a place like Nordstrom's if you don't want to search out a specialty shop but stay away from VS, please, they teach an old and outdated measuring system which also means that their bras don't fit right either because of this, and they have cheap lace, like wtf, so happy I am a lolita and I know what good lace looks like now.

The full bus tmeasurmenet should not be super tight. If your measurements are correct you are aa 27 or 28 (depending on how accurate your measurment was) D or DD cup. The UK sizes mostly just change because of cm and I think there's a cup size they don't use, like DDD or something, but that's it.

Also the whole 'measure over your breasts for your upper bust measurement' is also not really accurate for today's stuff.

Well if I'm following this correctly, I think the issue is that your actual difference isn't 10"...if your actual ribcage is 37-38 then a 36-38 band is the right size, but 44-38 is 6" and absolutely sounds more like a DD, possibly DDD, E or F cup depending on brand and how they size things. Girls with larger underbusts/more fat around their ribcage can usually size down a band size if it is comfortable for them. If it's uncomfortable however just use your underbust.

To keep your bands from stretching and make your bra last longer: never wear them two days in a row, wash every 3-ish wears and don't put it on backwards!! Especially with tighter bands this can warp and damage the underwires as well as stretch out the band. It requires a little bit of practice but after the first few tries it will be a lot easier!
