A while ago, someone in one of these threads decided to make buttons or stickers or something for a con, and asked for some pics that could be used. I lost track of the thread at the time, so is that anon possibly still lurking these threads, and did you end up making those stickers/buttons?

I volunteered for my outfit to be used for inspiration/copying for the buttons, and the person promised to send people free buttons or whatever if they volunteered, so I'm interested in seeing the results of that...

I'm super nervous about chopping my hair, because I'm not sure I could manage the upkeep... I'm a shower at night and roll out of bed and go person in the am. Plus I've never had my hair much shorter than that.... I'll admit I'm in a hair rut.

Not the drawanon, but I have this cut (this is not me, I got this off tumblr) and it's super low maintenance. I comb it out with a wide tooth comb after the shower and then brush it with a boar's hair brush after it dries and it's super shiny and fluffy. I have naturally pretty thin hair so for my hair to be noticeably fluffy you know I'm doing something right for it.

Also as long as we're offering some gentle critique, not sure if you're wearing makeup in that pic or not but investing in a subtle lip tint or stick will take your look miles further. I'm not gonna be the one to say take your glasses off, I personally don't mind glasses in lolita, but I would also try some new makeup techniques to open up/enlarge your eyes, I am also nearsighted and my glasses shrink my eyes. Once you do that and try a new hairstyle (get a bob wig if you're not ready to make the dive into short hair completely!) I think you're golden. I don't think a chop is necessary, but I'd recommend at least trying out bangs. Even if your hair is fussy at shorter lengths, it's hardly a chore to just flat iron your bangs and let the rest of your hair air dry.

Have you looked through the hair/makeup threads on /cgl/? I found them ridiculously helpful. I wasn't moisturizing my skin for the longest time even though I was cleansing it, and since starting a skin care routine I've noticed a huge difference. To say nothing of the hair and makeup tutorials I got from those threads. Those are part of the only reason I hang around /cgl/

Also damn you girls are making me wanna draw you, but I'm a little tipsy and even if I wasn't, my photoshop skills are not good enough to turn my sketches into something worth posting.

I do agree with this, the only way it can be avoided is if the cosplayer is wearing a unique variation of the outfit or have some sort of distinct trait in it. Outside of that if the person draws them as who they are and not an ideal anime version then things become noticeable.

I got roped into wearing an outfit once. I'm not going to even try to compete with the girls here as you folks are way better

Seen some of her work in real life and I'd say it's pretty okay. Not the bestest out there, but it looks nice and she does good custom sizing (i.e. actually reworking the pattern to fit measurements and not just adding a few cm at seams like some do). You have to pay attention to the fabric when choosing the dress though, sometimes is gorgeous jacquard but on some older prints it's strange elastic fabric .

It will improve your symmetry immensely and will help you combat disproportions (especially on faces that are 3/4 in view).
