I'm looking for a wig and want to know some reputable stores. Do you have any suggestions?
Right now I know of Lockshop, Arda Wigs, and Gothic Lolita Wigs.
Thanks for any help!

Cyperous has some great wigs but they are a bit expensive, however they'll last you for years.
You can order through their website but I found it easiest/cheaper on postage to go through my SS.

>> No.7146192

I've done a lot of research on wigs and have bought from a couple sellers. I recently spend $120 on a Cyperous wig order so I'll write a review when that comes in.

Anyway,
>GLW
I've bought two wigs from them: A blended twintail wig and their Countess wig--both brunette colors.
The blended twintail (which I bought almost three years ago when they were allegedly having issues) is absolutely amazing. This wig has suffered so much abuse yet I've never had any problems with it. It's not overly shiny either and normalfags often mistake it for real hair. Although I'm growing bored of the style tbqh.

The Countess wig on the other hand is so-so. The volume is superb, everything they advertised it has as far as the bump and volume go is accurate without any styling. But the wig itself did need styling to look decent. I found the bump to be kind of ratty, and the wig fibers look kind of crimped/nappy so it's not so uniform (but you can't tell from a distance). The positive is that it's not another shiny wig and the color looks quite natural.

Their shipping was quick for me (US here) and their communication was alright. I just wish they'd offer more promotions and lower their prices.

>Arda
Nothing but negative, negative, negative experiences with these wigs. Granted I bought from them when they first started out, so maybe they've changed. I bought their Jeannie and Eowyn wigs.

The Jeannie was awful. And I understand that even today it takes A LOT of work to make it passable. But this is before they advertised that you needed to modify the back if your head was small. The wig arrived pretty late, and the fibers were kind of not nice and the base of the wig had visible wefts and some matting of fibers on the hairline.

The Eowyn wig made me weep. I bought it before they specified that the bangs were set and could not be styled. The bang line looks extremely fake, like obvious wig tier fake. And again shipping was kind of laggy.

hi i own too many wigs.

>GLW
solidly good wigs but i wouldn't try and restyle them. they tangle a bit, but not badly. they don't look real at all. they're very soft. i really like these wigs.

>Cyperous
10/10 perfect for Lolita. some of them look really real, and they restyle beautifully.

>Arda
amazing cosplay wigs, insanely easy to style, wash, and they're all very thick. they hardly tangle. but i haven't had any of the really long ones.
none of them look even slightly natural.

>Arda con't
Unfortunately I wasn't very assertive yet in the internet business world and I never contacted Arda to express my disdain for either wig, but apparently they informed their customers about wig details after multiple people reported their troubles too. So there's that.

>Lockshop
Admittedly I've never bought because the shipping expense to the US makes it not worth it to me. A person did a side by side comparison of LS wigs to GLW wigs and the difference wasn't too too stark enough to justify the price. Some of the LS wigs have unique features to them, but for the most part you can find colorways/styles on taobao or ebay if you look hard enough.

>Cyperous
Whatever you do, think twice about >>7146168 style of wig.
I found a really nasty review doing a side-by-side comparison next to a Priscilla wig. The top-scalp part of that gyaru style is a horrendous mess. If I find the picture I'll let you know.

But overall Cyperous is known for quality, the prices (IMO) are just insane. I'll get back to you on shipping (I'm going through tenso).

My number one recommendation is Cyperous. I have two of their hime wigs, one of which I've had for... probably over 6 years now, and the other for more like 3 and a half.
I've put them both through hell, and no matter how badly fucked up they got they've recovered beautifully with a wash and restyling (if needed).
Yes, the crown of the Cyperous hime wigs is really crimped/weird, however, compared to the other wig I own with a hime style (from fantasy sheep) it's the best way to get that sort of volume without doing what FS did, which was sew a piece of another wig onto a base wig and stuff it with leftover fiber. The crowns of the Cyperous wigs are really absurdly thick, and that paired with the crimping at the roots, you can get an absolutely insane amount of volume with no teasing. I've also found that they hold curls so well that I don't even need to use any sort of hairspray to get the style to stay put, even with the wig being stored in a bag at the bottom of a pile of bags of other wigs. I pull it out, give it a quick shake, and it looks as good as the day I finished curling it.

Pick related re: volume. No teasing, no hairspray. Just a 3/4 inch iron and a whole lot of free time.

>> No.7147027

I have a red wavy lockshop wig that has suffered a lot of abuse. It has been brushed out, curled again, teased and cut several times. The only thing that shows it's been used is the ends, but nobody but me seems to notice.

I have a shorter, black and wavy wig from there too, that really looked exactly like the stock photo. It's soft and really easy to style. It's the one that I've used the most outside of cons and meets.

Sadly I have no pictures of them. I don't really get caught on camera and my webcam is broken.
But the wigs are really great and worth the price!

Depends exactly on what sort of fluff you're dealing with. If there are defined curls in there in the shape you want, you might be able to get away with just sectioning off the cur size you want and coming the hair in the same direction of the curl to get it to group up.

If it has a skin top, hairspray and alcohol can eventually (over many years) cause the skin top to dry out. I had this happen to a really old wig from 2004 that I had dyed and styled. As I was taking it out of the storage bag to determine if I could sell it or not and hand combing it, the skin top just crumbled and the hair on the top fell out. So I bought this Cyperous wig off the sales comm (worn once) because the owner didn't like how it tangled. The wig fibers seem rough, almost like they were back-combed and it really does tangle horribly (although it does have great body).

Thing is, I want to straighten it.

After tackling it with wig conditioner spray and no result should I use a flat iron or wash it with hot water (if so what temperature)? If the texture is indeed from backcombing, can it be fixed and made soft and shiny again? I ideally want to straighten it and then softly curl the bottom.

Neither, it needs to be detangled before you do anything to it. The heat will only further set and crimp the tangles into place. The only hope for really awful, tangled wigs is doing whatever you can to detangle them, whether attacking it with a comb or brushing through them until the ends frizz.

If the ends get frizzy use a flat iron to smooth them out. Only then you should consider styling it, probably with soft rollers and hot water.

I really don't get the obsession with cyperous wigs. They tangle horrible and look like crap without proper styling.

>Cyperous
Never owned ones but I've "fixed" them for friends and worn them for meetups. They style nicely but tangle within minutes and have to be restyled between each wear. Too much maintenance required for the price imo.

I would say Epic cosplay is good. My experience with GLW was good. They are a lot like extensions, if you want higher quality you have to pay a LOT more and even then they eventually get ratty and need replacing.

$40-$80 really isn't that much for a wig, they are costume wigs, they are not amazingly high quality in that price range. They lack quality control. You won't really get amazing wigs that look natural, comb out well, and have quality fiber for under $100, and I personally don't want to spend more then that.

Ayanamisatoru wigs are generally quite good quality- the character wigs are usually thick and accurate colour-wise. The fibres are quite easy to style, but are kind of rough and wiry like Arda's, which not all people like, but are also less frizzy under the bangs and more comfortable against skin imo. Some things to keep in mind are that the generic unstyled wigs (changeable, 80cm long, etc.) are less thick and usually lighter than the stock photos, while the character wigs (older photos with white background) are thicker and slightly darker than stock photos.
Also, a few of the wig cap circumferences are too small for people's heads, but I've only really heard of this problem with their pre-styled ponytail wigs and the changables.

As for their sailor moon wig, if you google for a review you can see it's more golden/dark than the stock photo. See http://www.acparadise.com/acp/wigs.php?c=1014 for worn pictures.

The one I received was a golden, greenish yellow and not at all the platinum pictured in stock photos. The fibers weren't shiny but they looked sort of greasy and fake. I've worn over thirty wigs and know how to wear them just fine, and this one looks awful no matter what I do.

Some wigs are just shit and that has nothing to do with how you style them.

I love Epic Cosplay's wigs. I personally own two of them, and they are very easy to manage. Hardly ever tangle, super soft and silky, just very good quality wigs overall. Would definitely recommend.

If you get a copic marker one shade darker than the wig and colour in the roots all over (just a small amount as close to the base wig as you can) it'll look more like you bleached your hair and much more natural. I'm not sure why she makes blonde wigs that colour or why people are so keen to buy them? Hardly anyone has hair naturally that shade

Okay, so I detangled the fuck out of the cyperous wig in question and now if is pretty frizzy. Should I use a flat iron on just the ends of the whole wig?

And as for the hot water treatment, its 185 degrees and I keep dumping the water on the wig until it straightens right? What should I prop the wig head on in the tub to make sure it stands straight?

Any tutorials you could link me to about straightening a wig would be awesome. I tried my google fu, but some say no flat iron, some say no hot water only steam, and some swear by a wet brush and a hair dryer...so I am pretty confused as which one to follow.

Thanks anons!

I'm leaning more and more towards Arda's Roxanne in Dark Copper Red, but until their sale on Saturday I'm not buying anything. So does anyone have any other recommendations for wigs? It's just for a Halloween costume so I don't want to be spending an arm and a leg on it either.

A greenish yellow? Jesus you're full of shit, I've seen those wigs myself up close (since everyone has one) and you can't be more wrong. Get some proof pictures up in this shit or get the fuck out with what's probably a vendetta.

No, but we all know Marie is here and, "greenish yellow", really? Maybe if you would come with proof, but for now I have to say that it's bullshit. I have the wig and sure it's not their best especially since it's a relatively old wig, the blonde color is a lovely platinum that's more on the cooler side of the spectrum.

I'm not the person you responded to. And this isn't the first time that people have cried VENDETTA at the slightest criticism of Lockshop. Not everyone who points out their wigs aren't 100% perfect kawaii has a vendetta.

God, and I like how people can criticize other wig businesses, but the second anyone touches ~*~Lockshop~*~, well, they're just terrible vendettachans or Marie.

Not the Anon you're replying to, but that doesn't look that far off from the preview pics and I don't see any green tinting at all.

You also have to consider that lighting will alter the shade and contrast of a wig. The pics used on Lockshop seem to be taken in a studio with professional artificial lighting. In other words, not the type of lighting you're going to encounter day to day.

I really, really wish all wig stores (Lockshop especially) would actually take some pictures with realistic lighting too since colours are so finicky and not everyone is wearing these wigs in a fucking studio...

I own this wig and very yellow-blonde wigs look terrible on my skintone. I usually end up selling them or dying them. But platinum blonde looks fine. Depending on the lighting, there can be a little more yellow tinge to it, but it's not so bad as to say it looks yellow or yellow-green. The hell?

My only gripe with the wig (I have the first run of them, not sure if it's changed) is the knappyness right at the roots. Which makes it a little annoying when trying to work with the bangs. But other than that, it's one of my favorites.

I think the argument is that the poster wanted a very light shade of platinum blonde but got a deeper shade of blonde than she expected. I agree with you that I like the color in the pic, but I don't blame her for wanting a lighter shade. It's really hard to find platinum blonde wigs that don't go into straight silver or yellow blonde category.
