So I'm a complete newbie working on my first ever cosplay, god tier john. What material should I make my hood out of? Or at least what materials I should avoid as a noob? I'm not really an experienced with sewing either, but I have done some quilting in the past.

I'm trying to think and besides the "Caucasian" thing with Jane (which, while unnecessary, I think is funnier just because her saying Peachy isn't much of a joke.) and Bro being described as a white rapper there's only one real instance of their being any sort of given description of the kids which is Kanaya describing Rose as "pale as a ghost" or something like that.

But, honestly, it's cosplay. As long as the costume is decent quality, you should be fine. Homestuck is one of the few series that allows for some leeway on skin tones and hair colors, so as long as the cut of the wig is still accurate and the costume is still good, is doesn't really matter.
