I actually do need help on figuring out what to buy to do Bee's hair. Should I get a straight wig and tease it underneath, or a curly wig and tease that, or just leave the curls as-is? It's really poofy, but it seems really uniform, so I don't really know how to translate that well into real-life.

I have somewhat of a plan here, but I'm just pretty dumb with hair and wigs. I was going to use an Arda Jeannie, lots of wefts, and some kind of foamcore structure that would be wrapped in wefts prior to being installed in the wig. I'm mostly worried about how short the Jeannie is, because it wouldn't be able to wrap around the foamcore entirely and have length left for curls. Going with a stubbing approach would leave a gap around the bottom right? Would I have to entirely re-weft the Jeannie with longer wefts?

>> No.7114586

>>7114530

I wouldn't recommend either of Arda's ponytail wigs. Only the outside of the ponytail has long hair; on the inside, where you can't see, it's all short hair.

It would be better for you to get a regular wig and add wefts along the outside to make it ponytail worthy. You're going to need all of the fiber you can get for this style.

>> No.7114628

>>7114586
Thanks for the tip! After posting I was then thinking about doing stubbing and having the lower (probably re-wefted) fibers cover any edge gaps with the foamcore, but now I'm thinking starting with a Luthien probably.

Hello! I'm planning on cosplaying Neptune, although I'm a bit confused on what to do for her hair.
I can't seem to find a wig that's accurate. Should I just get a medium length wig, and then cut everything except for the two long pieces? That seems really tedious, especially since I have no experience with cutting wigs other than trimming bangs.

I'd get a medium wig and cut it, yeah. Learn to do layers.
I'd pull up a spike, spray the root a bit to get it to stick out a bit, and blow-dry it, then maybe put hair-wax on the tips to keep them sharp?

this is a very big project if you aren't experienced at wig design. like, to actually achieve this style you'd need hair pieces and stuff.
the lace front wig would be a base, but you'd need wefts for the swoop, the bump, and the curls.

>>7117438
that looks like 80s feathered hair to me, not curly.
i would get a straight wig, heat resistant, get really big rollers like 2 inch, spray the hair with a strong hold hair spray and roll it up. then blow dry it on a medium setting until it was warm to the touch but not hot. do it all over the wig, wait until it's cool and unroll.
idk how else to do a round brush on a synthetic wig though

Not the person you're replying to, but I usually dilute the fabric softener with water. Just a capful or two in a small bucket of water should work.

Hi /cgl/

I've never ordered a wig before - hoping for some help.

http://www.mixwig.com/MAKISHIMA-SHOGO-PSYCHO-PASS-60cm-silvery-white-cosplay-wigs

I'm going as Makishima Shogo from Psycho-Pass. This is the best looking one I've found that actually has a picture of the wig not on a photoshopped model on a chinese ebay.

Anyone know if this site is reputable or know a better one?

Many thanks.

Black has a nicer contrast, and it's really hard finding a purple dark enough for Ririchiyo. If you're certain that the wig you'll buy won't be too bright, go for it, but black is a lot safer while still looking just as nice.

Most people tend to do the Sharpie-and-alcohol method.
Remember that you cannot make a wig lighter. Going white-to-black is fairly difficult and tedious because it's hard to get a pure-true-black.
Make sure you rinse it in cold water afterward, keep rinsing until the water runs clear. Comb it often to keep it from clumping when it's drying. Lay it on a towel for drying so the colour doesn't drip down.
If you're dyeing something red, keep in mind that red likes to rub off onto things no matter how much you rinse and treat it.

You could definitely salvage the hair and turn them into wefts, but that's time consuming as fuck imo. I'd buy another wig, cut off the wefts and sew those in (much easier/less messy than hardening the edge of the cut fibers to make into things you can then sew in). Then tease it a bit. I do think you'll want the added wefts no matter what if it is a really thick style.

Definitely dark purple. It isn't as hard as that other anon is saying to find this color. I agree with them that you don't want it to be even a medium purple, but black is WAY harsh and won't look as good with the outfit in my opinion. If I saw you in a black wig I'd think you accidentally chose the wrong color. Darkening wigs is also really easy btw, so if you find a close one or it arrives and it isn't dark enough you can FW dye or sharpie dye it.

Yeah, just doing a quick google search turned up LOTS of dark purple wigs. I could see that though, black on black is good but she's known for that hair color hm.

The real question I guess is should I shell out money for the pre-styled wigs or should I just go with one that has a long length for cheap and have my way with it. I'm hesitant to pay extra for a 'character' wig if it could show up looking shitty.

>> No.7133502

Samefag you replied to here. That's a tough call honestly...for colors that are really strange/specific, or if the part is specific, I'd say it is worth it simply because you can get a more accurate color that way, but honestly for that style/color I think you could easily manage it yourself. I've noticed that simple-ish character wigs wigs tend to just be short or long straight wigs in that color and get labeled as a character wig on eBay. Now for more stylized character hair sometimes Taobao shops do have better options but again, for something like this I feel like you'd have to do the styling no matter what even if you go with a "character" wig, so I definitely wouldn't pay any more since it really won't be styled when it arrives anyway. And finally, some character wigs are meant for multiple characters so they may not be the right shade you're looking for anyway.

I just did a normal bun like I'd do with my own hair and wrapped a braid around it and it looked fine but was really heavy. FYI the wig was bought for something else, I was just using what I had laying around, and I would actually suggest a shorter wig than this for what you're planning.
