Definitely a toss up between Ista Mori's Captain Cat and Chess Story's Le Jardin de Versailles
Cat: I don't know why but it's so pretty and I look really cute in it, plus the material is great for hot summers in Arizona.
Versailles: This is so pretty and flattering, and I love how lux the material is.

>What's in your current wardrobe?
Too much shit to make a collage of. Lots of AatP and Metamorphose, and nicer quality TaoBao stuff. Currently photographing EVERYTHING I own. Partly so I can get my poupee account up to date, partly to participate in the wardrobe theme when it comes up again and also partly because I'm trying to weed it out, and sell some things so I have room for new purchases.

My goal wardrobe is to have one piece from every major Japanese brand. So far, I'm not doing too badly on that. Still trying to find something from AP, VM, JetJ and MM that I like enough to buy, though.

>What's in your wishlist?
Again. A lot. In order from most to least desired: That tacky Metamorphose corset dress made of PVC and chiffon, AatP's Marini OP and matching hat in blue, AatP's Rosalia Princess Gauze OP (in white), Kurage Hime collab JSK (Kuranosuke striped JSK), BtSSB's Fragrant Rose Memories in the green or beige colourway (either JSK, preferably with bonnet), AatP's Chiffon Jewellery Print JSK in black or blue (asymmetrical cut), IW's Lunna Stripe Halter JSK ... and a bunch of others I'd like to buy but which am not actively seeking.

>What do you need?
A wider variety of blouses. New bloomers. Hair accessories that don't match specific prints. I have a bad habit of buying sets with matching bonnets and headdresses, then not having something to put with my solid-coloured pieces.

>What's your obsession?
More like obsessionS. Chiffon and other sheer fabrics, princess sleeves, corset-style bodices, sailor pieces, lots of layering and texture all in one garment, cute lolita-style boots.

>Most beloved item in your wardrobe?
A 2007 Metamorphose Sailor dress. It was a birthday gift from a very dear friend.

>Most comfortable item in your wardrobe?
Metamorphose's Apple Print skirt. Their fully shirred skirts are ridiculously comfy and the corduroy fabric is just so soft and plush.

I put everything I own that comes from any specifically lolita orientated business, rather than main brands. I'm still waiting on two things from this, but it's so weird seeing everything in one picture.
I know there's only four real brand pieces in mine, but was anyone else surprised at how much they owned when they made their collages?

>What's in your current wardrobe?
Lots of things that don't match each other.
>What's in your wishlist?
So much! In particular any AP chocolate bag as well as either version of Melty Chocolate in green, Baroque's Kingdom of Lolita skirt in black/gold and BTSSB's La Robe Vert Clair but the list is getting endless.
>What do you need?
White shoes, a nice hat such as a boater hat, some good quality white lace gloves. I'm not so sure anymore, but I'm trying to focus on quality and matching things to what I already have, no more impulse buying of replicas just because they're cheap.
>What's your obsession?
Chocolate prints, guro lolita and himegyaru.
>Most beloved item in your wardrobe?
BTSSB's Velveteen Lace Frill JSK, first brand piece and I'm still in love with it after a year. It makes me feel like a princess, as cheesy as it is.
>Most comfortable item in your wardrobe?
Bodyline crown embroidery cardigan. It's starting to look really worn but I can't help myself, it's too comfy!

You all have such amazing wardrobes!
This is everything from lolita-specific brands, missing an offbrand sailor OP and a lot of accessories. I started building my wardrobe in April and it's still growing. I really love every piece I own, and making this really helped me realise that.

>What's in your current wardrobe?

>What's in your current wardrobe?
Mostly gothic styled pieces from aatp, a few classic pieces in darker tones, in coming Musee de chocolat, which is a late birthday present that won't match anything in my wardrobe.
>What's in your wishlist?
Metas Melody Cat JSK in either black or Ivory, MmM sleepy garden in purple, and APs freshly picked strawberries in black or red.
>What do you need?
More blouses and accessories, I have about five blouses but four are really plain f21 type things. I only have one head bow, I feel I should have one or two more.
>What's your obsession?
Things with cat prints.
>Most beloved item in your wardrobe?
Aatp's Treasure hunt in Mystic Islands JSK in Black (the baby doll version) I bought it, it didn't fit and I lost a shit ton of weight to get into it, now I'm towards the lower side of the measurements. Missing: Metamorphose's Royal Rose Shirred Skirt in ivory

I never know if I have a lot or a little, this took way too long to put together. I only keep track of my lolita-specific brand items, not my offbrand stuff. Shit would be twice as big if I included offbrand.

I have a really earthy/mori palette, except for Meta's Strawberry Cream and Tales of the Wood.

>What's in your current wardrobe?
Everything to the left!

>What's in your wishlist?
MM Apollonia OP in red, Pina SweetCollection Ribbon Babydoll OP in pink are the main ones. I already have them in alternate colors, but they're so perfect I want the others.
I'm leaving the world of prints behind and I'm really focusing on pieces that have a lot of attention to detail (think MM). It's mostly older stuff. That's the essence that made me fall in love with lolita and I realized it's what I really crave and look best in.

>What do you need?
Blouses, hair accessories, and jewelry for cure. Better makeup skills too.

>What's your obsession?
Chiffon, ruffles, pintucks, lace, gobelin. Any kind of special fabric wins my heart!

>What's in your current wardrobe?
See the picture + a blouse I couldn't find a picture off (I didn't picture any more accessories, because some of them are not exclusive lolita items but just some cute necklaces and bracelets)
>What's in your wishlist?
I want to start owning some actual brand, but I want it to be a dream piece. If only I would have the money for Lotta, I would be so happy
>What do you need?
I don't like wearing blouses with my JSK's, so i am in serious need of some bolero's and cardigans. I also lack accessories and OTK's and shoes
>What's your obsession?
Anything with deers. If it has a deer print and nice construction, you can bet that I want it.
>Most beloved item in your wardrobe?
I love my deer collar. It looks so nice with my classic Infanta dress
>Most confortable item in your wardrobe
It is a tie between the Milky Planet replica and the Lady Sloth skirt. They both fit so nice. The other replica's have very scratchy lace, Infanta stuff (with exception of the coat) is too tight around my boobs and Chess Story is too loose.

Before i get a lot of hate from anti-replica people. I got these as a gift from my mom, because she knew I liked this prints and she doesn't really know that replica's are frowned upon. I treasure them, because it was a really nice thought from her. Any tips about what I should buy to complement my wardrobe are welcome, especially if it is stuff I actually need like shoes and cardigans

>What's in your current wardrobe?
These plus an OP I'm currently rearranging the collar on, blouses/cutsews, and random assorted shoes and accessories that I cbf'd photographing.
I think the themes and motifs in my wardrobe are pretty obvious from the photo.

>What's in your wishlist?
MMM lace flock in purple/that kinda purply bordeaux wine colour
The Kidsyoyo replica of Marionette Girl in wine because it's actually wine, not red - I owned it but in a size too big for me
Marionette Doll in black x red
Atelier Boz Roland jacket in black velveteen (it was sitting up on maidenclothing forever but I hadn't the cash for it and now it's sold)
That exact same tacky qi lolita dress but in purple (again, up on maiden....argh)

>What do you need?
A dark green high collar blouse, long sleeve lilac blouse, bordeaux/wine blouse, decent black bolero/jacket

>What's your obsession?
Not sure if I have one...

I started collecting in October 2011. My wardrobe is sorta small but I don't have a job so everything comes from allowance savings and Christmas/birthday money.

>What's in your current wardrobe?
Pic related are my main pieces (plus another JSK that's in the mail, Beauty and the Rose Promise in blue). Other than that I own four blouses (1 white, 1 offwhite, 2 black), 4 bags (1 burgundy, 2 black, 1 black and white), a cape, a parasol, 9 more headpieces, 2 pairs of shoes and a bunch of socks and accessories.

>What's in your wishlist?
AatP's Gathered chiffon JSK, MMM's Ritual print and Scallop Lace OP (either green or ivory), Versailles collab bonnet

>What do you need?
A white parasol (already own one in black), light colored bag, diamond socks in gold and black, and some more headwear is on my shopping list atm. I could use some jewelry too, I always feel like I'm lacing in that department.

>What's your obsession?
Lace tights and head accessories. I'd seriously buy them all (except for headbows which I don't particularly care about).

>Most beloved item in your wardrobe?
My Versailles jsks, probably. Also the floral dress, that was my first buy and holds a lot of sentimental value to me.

A combination of styles, lots of Meta.
>What's in your wishlist?
Vampire Forest in red and Vampire requiem in lavender. I've been wanting these for a long time, especially the latter (4 years!).
>What do you need?
I really need a black and white or a red and white polkadot skirt. I saw an AP set that I had wanted with a skirt and headbow that was perfect but Japonica didn't bid on it in time. It ended for only 1200 yen, too.
>What's your obsession?
Polka dots! Old school Meta! Crosses! Retro themed dresses! And many more.

I love it! It's exactly my size and it's a custom design. The designer from 4'o clock asked me, what kind of dress I wanted to have. I told her the details and she made 2 beautiful sketches for me. From begin to end I've had input in the process.

It was expensive for sure, but it's worth it. I do have one advise: the corset (most dresses have built in corsets) is tight, if you have problems with that you need to add a few centimeter to your own (waist) size.

Please tell me if you want to know more. I would love to buy another dress from 4 o'clock but I can't afford it right now. I'm waiting for the 'cheaper' designs.

I haven't met her in person for fitting, I did send her my measurements. My measurements are the same as the designer, so it was easy for her. There is a possibility to meet her in person, I'm not sure if she charges anything for that.

I think it took 2 months, there was no need to hurry. (Asking for a design ~~ Delivery of the dress) I knew she had to work on some other bigger projects. She can work fast, if she has time. You can discuss about a deadline. I think that's the best, then she always finish items in time.

If you have any questions, please contact her. Too bad many people hesitate to contact her, I know it's scary to talk directly to a designer but she is so nice. There is no need to worry!

And build in corsets are great!

Oops supposed to be getting ready to go to work but before I knew it I was making one...

>>What's in your current wardrobe?
I don't even know. When I first started out I expected it to look like >>7128843 (which is amazing by the way), super gothic black black black, and then... classic happened? I have no clue. My wardrobe as it stands now is basically 'dark' classic with a few outliers, but I think it doesn't look very cohesive together lol.

A handful of old/midschool solid black pieces and one or two newer ones (>>7129796 basically, lol. Moitie Pleats OP and that Meta gold braid JSK are two of them...)

>>What's your obsession?
Black x gold. Roses- Rose prints, rose accessories... And stained glass, lately.

>>Most beloved item in your wardrobe?

I think the most efficient way to do it would be to have a bunch of established loli friends who would let you try on their stuff so you can see how you feel about different styles, cuts, and brands. But since most people probably don't have that option, I second >>7133076, buy dresses you love.

Then once you have each piece, be honest with yourself about whether you love it *for you*. Does it look good on you? Do you feel good wearing it? If the answer is yes, why? Once you figure out something you like, buy things like that. If you don't like a dress for some reason, sell it, and avoid similar items in the future. Eventually you'll get a feel for your own style and be able to judge whether a new purchase will fit in with your wardrobe.

It's quite hard to say what the best way is for you specifically - if you're someone who has an interest in fashion already and knows what flatters you it's a lot easier than if you've come to it from jeans and t-shirts only. I came from an interest in vintage fashion as well as being a bit of a mallgoth so although I had dubious fashion sense, I knew what made me look good haha.

I think it's important to have a wardrobe you love rather than one you just like, as well as one that you will actually wear. It took me several months/years to figure out that although I liked the look of sweet lolita on people other than myself, it wasn't something that was very 'me' compared to gothic and classic. I also don't actually like wearing a lot of black on black, hence my wardrobe is mostly jewel tones.

Honestly it's a lot of experimentation. Some people know already what colors/themes suit them best. Others need to sort it out. I think I look best in sweet to sweeter classic styles. I've tried out gothic and more mature styles and I just feel sad, serious, and frumpy.

I came into the fashion from mostly jeans and t-shirts. But I didn't have too much difficulty. Essentially, you start out with your first main piece(s), a blouse and legwear that match, accessories, bags, shoes, then gradually add more colors and more options. It helps if you build a wishlist, and put together coords with image programs to figure out what you want to add.

When I'm adding new colors to coordinate with, I usually go on a spree buying blouses/cardigans/boleros, tights/socks, and then usually a new pair of shoes and a bag. But I also make sure that when buying a new main piece, I have something I can use with it already that way I don't have to go nuts. Working with various styles can get a little tricky, but it's possible!

Partial part 2. Can't bother finding any more stock pictures.

Btw, everything on the top row, I am selling.

>What's in your current wardrobe?
Pic attached and >>7133293 and some other stuff, like Moitie Chandelier OP, another black Meta JSK, and some IW sale stuff.

>What do you need?
Five dresses and my closet is done. DONE. Except for new releases, of course.

>What's your obsession?
BLOUSES OH MY GOD BLOUSES I love blouses. I have lots from regular/department stores or vintage, and I just love fancy blouses. They are the reason I happened to even find out what lolita fashion is.

>Most beloved item in your wardrobe?
It's hard to decide on one in particular.
I really like Robe du Muguet a lot, but Moitie's Holy Stained Glass long OP is probably my favorite besides the Fragrant Rose Memories JSK as far as "main pieces" go. Out of blouses/accessories/etc, my favorites are the Collar Blouse from BABY (second row 1st pic) and the black Fragrant Rose Memories bag. Work great outside of lolita.

>Most comfortable item in your wardrobe?
IW Rose Petal Blouse is really comfy, but the sleeves are too damn short (2 inches longer would be perfect). Or my Black Peace Now JSK (the one on the right, second row, with the pickups).

It comes in a short length skirt, middle/long length skirt (the one I have) and a JSK, ehich interestingly has no flare at all in the skirt. Kind of flat. But I think the JSK is up right nowon yahoo auctions, but in the olive/khaki colorway, not the navy/blue one. Sorry I don't remember the actual name of thr series. I just call it my Jane Marple violin embroidery skirt (not vert creative) and have a few pics from the series I could post if you'd like.

>What's in your current wardrobe?
These are most of my main pieces (everything in the pink box is the same tartan- it's so old though I couldn't find stock pics of everything). I've been a sweet lolita for quite awhile now but I only started collecting classic this past year. Unfortunately it's hard for me to be able to mix too many of my items from one wardrobe to the other for outfits (white/off-white/ivory/beige...ugh) except maybe the Bookmark skirt so it's almost like they are two separate wardrobes.

>What's in your wishlist?
AP Wonder Story, BtSSB Charme de Rouge~ Red shoes only for me, and some older pieces from AP I hardly ever see pop up.

>What do you need?
More versatile pieces so I can use them in both styles, also more hats.

>What's your obsession?
My current obsession is with the color gray though it's super hard to match stuff.

>Most beloved item in your wardrobe?
I finally got my dream dress- Fantasic Dolly OP! That's probably top of the list but I also love all three of my BtSSB navy prints to pieces.

>Most comfortable item in your wardrobe?
The IW Biscuit JSK is super comfy and the AP bookmark skirt.

>what do you need?

cultery prints, pop colours, mini-length skirts

>most beloved item in your wardrobe?

>Most comfortable item in your wardrobe?

HOWEVER, when I put on three pushup bras and boosted my bust size to 90cm and tried on the dress, it still had a little room and looked okay, not pulling funny or anything. >What's in your current wardrobe?
there's like 3 themes going on: lavender sweet stuff, white x pink, and old school/otome/less crazy sweet stuff. also ponies. I couldn't find a good pic of Bodyline's carousel jsk in yellow but I have that too.

>What's in your wishlist?
ballet-themed stuff, maybe DDC tiered in lavender if the price ever gets not ridiculous, Milky Planet in yellow or lavender, the rerelease Milky Planet JSKs in any color but sax would be cool. also the Wish Me Mell collab OP but I do not have $500 to blow on that set right now.

>What do you need?
more blouses, specifically a baby pink and a lavender blouse that aren't crappy bodyline unbreathable polyester. :( I'm having a hell of a time finding blouses that will fit me right. maybe I'll jump in on that new indie brand blouse order if they have a decent pink to match my sweet stuff.

>What's your obsession?
white x pink stuff and ballet-themed items (Princess Tutu fanaticism), cute lavender prints, ponies. I need more Meta stuff though, they make such awesome pieces.

>Most beloved item in your wardrobe?
it's a three way tie between Sugar Hearts, Etoile Twins, and actually the Bodyline carousel dress. Sugar Hearts was my dream dress I spent all summer hunting down, Etoile Twins was my first dream dress and first piece I bought brand new, and first complete set I have, and the carousel dress is just super easy to wear and I never feel nervous bringing it with me travelling, it's washable and it's the first dress that made me realize I look cute in yellow and lavender. it was also altered to fit someone shorter by a previous owner so it's like doubly perfect for me.

>Most comfortable item in your wardrobe?
definitely a cross between the ETC grey jsk and the carousel dress. both are super easy to wear.

>What's in your current wardrobe?
All this plus some offbrand blouses and blazers and coats. I sold a lot of my wardrobe when I moved, so now I'm trying to get a lot of it back! I kept only my favorites. Hopefully it will be twice as big by the end of 2014!

>What's in your wishlist?
Moitie's Iron Gate OP (yes I'm a sheep), Vampire Requiem OP, AATP's new Halloween print I can't remember the name of, Metamorphose Tim Burton collaboration, some other things

>What do you need?
Printed tights! I love the way they look with the right co-ords.

>What's your obsession?
Alice and the Pirates prints! I love their artwork. My vampire "trilogy" (Vampire Requiem, Vampire Forest, Vampire prelude) is my proudest collection, though I really really want the Vampire Requiem OP in black and would trade my JSK for it in a heartbeat.

>Most beloved item in your wardrobe?
Black Cat, Witch, and the Apple Tree JSK! It's so gorgeous. The blue is perfect, and it has little gold accents on the print that highlight the apples wonderfully. I usually think Alice and the Pirates prints are very wearable for casual outings, but this print is so gorgeous and fancy, I feel overdresses every time!

>Most comfortable item in your wardrobe?
I love onepiece dresses and find them much more comfortable than jumperskirts, and like that I don't have to wear a blouse under them. My Vampire Forest OP is the one I wear the most, so I'd like to call it my most comfortable, but Silent Moon is super comfy and soft!

Royal Chocolate LW JSK (2012), Love Air Mail JSK in navy, but mostly I really want the Classic Melody JSK in Ivory (the one without the sailor looking collar). Every day I regret not getting it, because I've never seen it anywhere.

Which ones do you consider rare/"status" pieces? Just Iron Gate or Puppet Circus? Or are we including others?

I'm >>7136116 and a year ago I would have considered Silent Moon OP to be a status piece, but the hype seemed to die down pretty quickly. I bought mine secondhand, so there was a bit of a search for this particular length and color, but it wasn't hard to find compared to some girls who stalk the sales comm every day. I simply visited a secondhand site and got lucky it showed up. I do still think of it as a status piece though, and that makes me like it a lot more. I obviously like the print because it fits in with the vampire theme I have going, but if people hadn't made such a big deal out of it when the first pictures showed up online, I most likely would have skipped it and waited for the next AATP print. It's not structured like other lolita OPs. My sister calls it my "goth nightgown".

As someone who has bought and sold a lot of status pieces, I would have to say that the money I spent almost makes it mean more than the search. The search is annoying, and people get lucky all the time like >>7138103
saying she happened on SM without much work. More than once I've been really pissed that someone commented on a sales post just mere seconds before I did, and got the dress, when I had been searching for years for it to pop up. Maybe it sounds shallow to say that the amount of money I spent on it makes it more valuable personally to me, but I consider the money I put into lolita just as much or even more "work" than the time and effort of culling through secondhand sites, auctions, sales posts, etc. Those hours I spend at my job are what earn the dollars I spend on lolita, and the hunt is not a positive or meaningful thing to me. I'd rather pay out the ass for a dream dress than get it for a low or decent price after months or years of constant searching.

tl;dr I have other shit to do than search for my dream items. Please let me just pay a scalper an absurd amount during a quick transaction so I can feed my cat, buy my groceries, get to my job, visit my folks, pay my rent, and get with all the other necessary shit in my life.

I have a number of rare status pieces.
I love them for their beauty and enjoy wearing them. All of 5 lolis know the true extent of my wardrobe. I rarely post pics online and generally wear mid tier pieces to meets.
I don't use them to get noticed or accolades. It just happens that many of the pieces I love carry status.
I have also sold status pieces when they don't suit me or make me happy. I have bought and sold Lotta Deer 3 times because it just wasn't the right dress for me. If I were in it to get noticed I would have kept it and posted many pictures online because popular dress.
I am also just as likely to get excited and to wear random status free dresses (I love random Meta shit)
