Is there a fancier way of saying "anime convention"?
I'm doing an assignment and for some reason I feel the need to use a different term. I was thinking Japanese pop culture convention but what does /cgl/ think?

I'd rather call "cosplay" as "wearable drama".

I like to call it "Fan Costuming" when I don't want to come off as the insufferable weeaboo that I am.

I generally say fashion-costume design and modeling.
If anything involves intense hardware and I need to explain it to the people in the store to help me find my items, I say it's for a science project.

>tfw once you needed dad to come help you navigate Home Depot
>tfw every person we ran into who worked at the store
>tfw "Hi my daughter is working on an anime costume for this anime convention thing..."

I was looking at safety gear at Home Depot and an employee was trying to chat me up. I mentioned I already had a respirator when I grabbed some safety goggles, then I started looking at some earmuffs because the sound of my tools can be really grating. He felt the need to tell me that the ear muffs weren't a respirator. I always wonder if I get that shit because I'm a woman or if it's just because of them dealing with stupid people all day.

It's probably because your a woman. Last time I was in Home Depot I was pricing paints since I was redoing my family's porch. I needed some quickcrete that day but I was getting frustrated because I wasn't sure it they sold cans of self etching primer, and I just wanted to compare their paint prices to Lowes. I was just curious really. But oh man every 2 minutes the same two guys kept coming up to me and asking if I needed help. And yes, I understand they're just doing their job but this was going on for 30 minutes because I was just standing there reading the backs of paint cans. After a while I just gave in and was like I wanted to know if you guys just sold straight primer for concrete paints or if I can just skip that step and paint it?
Neither of them knew wtf concrete paint was and kept directing me to the outdoor latex paints, for the outside of your house. I kept telling them no I'm painting a concrete porch I need epoxy based and they just wouldn't listen...
