Thanks to you lovely seagulls I learned how to apply make up only a couple years ago and ended my embarrassing, cakey mess. I know you ladies have helped quite a few people; let's continue helping each other.

Recommended Products/Tips:
>Salux Nylon Japanese Bath Towel
Ditch your exfoliation gloves and goop, this is all you need. Make sure you buy from saluxshop dot com . It's only $6 USA and they ship internationally for a bit more. There's a lot of Chinese knock-offs of this on Amazon. Don't risk it. I've been using it for 2 years already and it's helped with my KP tremendously and it's long enough that you can scrub your back easily! Mine lasts a few months before it needs replacing and you don't need to wash it, just run it under some water.

>Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer
For those who cannot afford Bobbi Brown/MAC products. I have hereditary dark circles with very thin skin under my eyes, so I naturally sport the sleepless, vein-y look. It doesn't work miracles, but I've noticed an incredible difference. It's worth a try, but it can get cakey for some. I'll post a before and after in the next post ( not me ).

>Oil Cleansing Method
Do not be afraid of oil, ladies. Unless you're one of the small handful of unfortunates, this will help. Your skin may go through a purging stage, but it will be worth it. Your skin ends up radiant and healthy looking in the end. I had very stubborn blackheads around and on my nose that came up on their own after doing this for a couple weeks. I only did it every other day until it clogged up my sink.

I was just wondering if anyone has gone for the cosmetic surgery for acne scars (lazer and what not) I have a lot of the icepick scars as well as deep set ones that I've found out the only way to get rid of them is to get the surgery and I'm at the point where I will go for it because I'm so tired of having them.

Also I had recently bought the Skin 79 BB cream from Pinky Paradise and I just love it! I feel that it's really helped my skin a lot and my skin just looks so much smoother and has that healthy shine. Korean BB creams just are outstanding compared to the crap we have here.

I would say yes, I bought the FIT stick to use on my Tzone because it prevents oilyness and it applies with a lot of coverage which I then smooth out to be less obvious. It's fat, though so it may be awkward to use as a spot concealer but I think it could work. It does emphasize dry skin so make sure to use moisturizer~

I have a few problems that idk what to do about.

1. Is there a way of making my skin milkier? I would say my skin is pretty milky until you get to my legs. Then it gets translucent-ish and paste-like. Is there a way to get that allover alabaster look?

2. I get redness around my nose and chin. Any tips as to how to get rid of this?

3. My face/skin texture looks overall OK when I look in a regular mirror, but holy hell am I an ugly hag when I look in that magnified make-up mirror. ALL of my pores are just so huge, and my skin isn't smooth, more like there are tiny little bumps EVERYWHERE. Is there anything that can be done about this? Perhaps a facial? Or would I have to do something I simply am unable to do, like laser resurfacing?

I don't want them to spend too much, so I want to stick to drugstore stuff mostly. We get brands like Maybelline, L'Oreal and Revlon here, so any brands other than those are ideal. I know I want to try some Physician's Formula stuff, any recommendations?

1. no
2. concealer, drink more water, better skin care routine blahlbahblah. it might be hyperpigmentation but to know for sure, and to get a way to treat it, talk to a dermatologist.
3. everyone looks like a hag in a magnifying makeup mirror. car mirrors for whatever reason make me look horrific. if you skin looks fine to a normal mirror/person don't stress over it. the more you do trying to fix things that aren't visible to the naked eye the more damage you will most likely cause.
like for me, i get obsessed about dead skin around my nails. i used to pick at it with nippers until it was all gone. it looked great up close, so smooth and clean. but back off and it looked red, raw, and damaged.
never judge how something looks but looking at it as closely as possible, because that's not how anyone looks at you. you're human you will be flawed. forever.

however, going to a skin care professional, either dermatologist or esthetician to talk about reasonable ways to improve is fine.

Any tips on avoiding getting ingrown hairs and bleeding because of epilator use? I use it only on my underarms, and while it hurt at first, I like the pain now, in a way. It's satisfying. I had no problems with ingrown hairs ever.

try a gritty scrub like (lush ocean salt or whatever its called) to prevent dead skin buildup around the hairs, and use the scrub again a few hours after you epilate. you can probably use a chemical exfoliator, like something with AHA or BHA (alpha hydroxy acid or salicylic acid).

I can't spell, sorry, but you get the point. you want the skin around the epilated areas to shed more so the hairs have a place to grow instead of being trapped by dead skin and becoming ingrown.

I've found coconut oil to be very comedogenic on both my face and chest area. It's fine for arms and legs but I'm never using that stuff on my face again. EVOO is also pretty heavy and there's a very good chance that the stuff you see advertised as extra virgin isn't extra virgin at all. Not a huge problem if used for cooking, but can definitely cause breakouts if used on your face. Better safe than sorry, imo.
I personally like macadamia nut and grapeseed oil. I use macadamia at night because it's a little heavier and grapeseed during the day so I don't look as greasy. Apricot kernel is also supposed to be good, as well as sweet almond (provided you're not allergic! This goes for the macadamia nut as well) but I've never tried them. If you have naturally oily skin and want something 'drier' you can try hempseed. It made my skin feel a bit tight in the morning if I used it at night.
You can also mix in different kinds of oil together. Tamanu oil is great for acne but it's quite green, so better used at night. I like vitamin E to help fade scarring but if used on its own it's too heavy for me. I mix a few drops of it with the grapeseed and also apply topically to any healing blemishes I may have.

To apply I just drop a drop on each of my cheeks, my forehead, my nose and my chin and then pat it in gently. Anything left on my fingers is applied to my neck.

If they are naturally well furnished and well defined, no. However, it is rarely the case.

I use to think eyebrow make up was bullshit or only useful for a small group of eyebrow deficient people. But, it really does help give your whole face a more defined look. No need to go heavy on it either.
Although if you only use very light/natural makeup, it is not really needed.

I guess the easiest way to tell is for you to try it.

>lime, egg white to fade old insect bite scars
>milk powder cos it makes things sticky and it's supposedly good for whitening
>honey because many people say to put it on your skin
>green leaves because antioxidants and whatever

i throw all these into a bowl, mix it up, take off my clothes in the bathroom and smear it all over. ideally i should wait until the mixture dries up but sometimes i don't have that luxury.

i don't do it regularly because it is time consuming. over time it does help my scars to fade and my skin feels soft and happy

studies show being vitamin D deficient leads to a longer life.
anyway, you used accutane. that's why you have forehead wrinkles. long time exposure to harsh acne treatments limit the production of oil. or your skins ability to retain moisture. both of those lead to pre-mature wrinkling.
start a good moisturizer/serum routine, and get a good anti-aging/wrinkle repair/preventative product.
you most likely wont notice a diminishing of your fine lines, but it will help stop any new ones from forming.

that said most people have fine lines even in their 20s, if you look close enough. but no one looks that close but you.
if it bothers you that much contact a cosmetic surgeon, or dermatologist.

Is it ok to ask about hair stuff too?

I have very frizzy, coarse and thick hair, a bit wavy too. I use a flat iron from revlon but I have to go several times over it to get it straight and after several hours it gets puffy again.

I know exactly how you feel right down to a t. Same hair texture, having to go over it a few times when straightening only to have it puff right back up.

I bought the KQC ( pretty expensive, about $100 ) a couple years ago and I adore it. It takes about 15 minutes on average to do my hair, but I do take my time and it's very long. It can go up to 450 degrees and heats up in 30 seconds at most ( it flashes once it reaches your desired temperature ). It makes my dry, frizzy hair silky and straight. The best thing is instead of straightening everyday, I only have to do it once and lasts until I take another shower.

I found Estee Lauder's lightest shades way too dark, but I'm like a negative on the MAC scale. The lightest shades I've seen in person have been the Loreal True Match someone recommended, Flower Beauty lightest shade, I think Maybelline has a really light shade called Fit 110 or something. Lorac's lightest shade is decently light. Illamasqua makes some pretty light shades. All of those are too dark for me, but for the average really pale person, they might work.

If you're on my level, you're kind of out of luck unless you're pink toned, which means you can use the Illamasqua 105 shade. If you're light enough for that, but not pink-toned, I think your best bet is either getting some white foundation to mix with or just getting something specially blended for you.

I read a thing somewhere that a good natural looking color should match the inside of your lip.

But I don't wear lipstick. Maybe you should try some of those marker stains?
I don't like the really bright ones, but most of the darker ones look pretty good on me, and if I feel like I got too much product I just rub some chapstick in.

That seems to help even out the color, if there's still too much I use the rough seam on a towel or something to scrub it off.

It will make dry lips look terrible though.

You could also try not putting it all over your lips (depending on the color). Since I use pretty natural looking tones, I might just do a little bit directly under my lip (like over lining but not clownish, I guess) and on the sides to make them look a little fuller.

more water. it doesn't actually hydrate your skin or clear acne or anything (at least not for me) but if I don't get enough water my skin is not nearly as bright/glowy

more exfoliation. I have to exfoliate a ton. I think my skin just naturally sheds faster than usual. I don't rub it raw, and try to avoid over exfoliation, but I have to do it ever other day and then I use one of those silicone pads every night when I was my face. Be thorough, but be gentle.

hi licensed professional hair dresser here. now listen carefully because what i'm going to tell you is very hard to understand and most people do it wrong.

1 do not use box colour
2 do not use anything from Sally's
3 find a beauty school in your area that uses Paul Michtell products and get "KeraTriplex® 2-Step Repair
PROFESSIONAL TREATMENT"
you might need to get it twice
actually you most def will and it really wont help all that much on the overall look but it will make it much healthier
(you can actually just buy it off amazon and do it yourself, idk why i said find a school)
4 you will need to fill your hair with all the pigments stripped if you want to go dark again. basically, you have no red, orange, green, blue, anything in your hair when you're blonde. so say you want like ~light auburn hair~ you can't just put "normal brown" on it because that's only got a little bit of warm tones and mostly cool tones because most people have tons of warm tones in their hair and they don't want it to come out red so they keep it pretty neutral. so you'd need to put back in the oranges, a tiny bit of red, and some blues and greens to balance it out.
like for example, a girl in my first beauty school had white hair. she coloured a part of it black. and it faded to green (green based black wtf Clairol this is why you don't buy from Sally's). so she did it again. and it happened again. and the teachers wouldn't tell her why. finally i gave in and told her to re-read the chapter we had just read like a month prior.
i swear to fuck most beauty school students, and licensed hair dressers, don't know shit about colour theory. it's... idk

any more questions?

> really wont help all that much on the overall look but it will make it much healthier
meaning the way it dries naturally wont look great. you'll need to style it, smooth it with a flat iron to get it to lay not frizzy. once your hair is at that melty frizzy dead hair stage there isn't a lot you can do to make it not frizzy anymore except grow it out. because a lot of the frizzy is caused by so many different lengths of hair from breakage instead of the cuticle of the hair not lying flat.
but it will /feel/ a ton better. and be able to hold color. and be able to be styled. and not break as much.
also get a really good shampoo and conditioner and deep conditioner and clarifying shampoo

what she's doing is touching up your highlights only, so as to not damage the hair that's been previously high lighted and to maintain the look of the partial highlight. if you want to slowly work your way from partial highlight to full highlight to blonde hair talk to your hairdresser about more highlights.
but more highlights will cost more money. so be prepared to spend up to double what you were pay.

unless you meant "never brings my highlights all the way down" as in she only does the top of your head and not the hair around your nape/lower part of your hair. in which case again just talk to her. hair dressers are not mind readers. if you smile and say thank you they think you got what you wanted.

it stabs your skin on a very tiny level

bringing more blood to your under eye area will only make the problem worse
also
that tiny level is a much bigger level when you're talking about your under eye skin

That said, and I hope you don't take this personally because I truly mean no offense or insult, but...

I can't trust people anymore when they say a shade is "so white!" because...I don't know. Maybe they're not used to having/seeing freakishly white skin. The makeup artist who blended my custom foundation over the internet promised that it would be "SUPER FAIR" but it was dark orange on me. It was supposed to be two shades lighter than Prescriptives's lightest shade, and it looked brown on me.

Makeup that has been blended to me in person is literally- and I mean it in the actual definition of the word literally- white with a little bit of yellow, green, and blue mixed in to give it some colour. They don't even use the lightest base shade.

I was considering getting some of the Skin Base in white to mix with an older, too dark foundation I had been using, but I hear that Skin Base doesn't mix well? Can't you find a primer with sunscreen or a foundation with sunscreen? This seems like a bit much.
I would personally do sunscreen (or cream), primer, foundation, then concealer. The foundation can even out your skin tone and so the concealer is only for real trouble spots.

As for the exfoliating, it depends on your method and your skin. What were you thinking about and how sensitive is your skin? Okay, well, sorry if you already know anything of this but I'm just going to go through it.

There's mechanical and chemical exfoliation. Mechanical is anything that uses a "scrub" type to remove dead skin- konjac sponges, clarisonic brushes, washclothes, tubes of scrub cream from the store, etc. Chemical is...well, anything that chemically induces skin to shed, like acid peels. A lot of Asian companies make "peeling gels" which some girls love, but I never really liked personally.

As far as mechanical methods, you could get a konjac sponge, or just start out with a washcloth, or buy something like the Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub from the store. I didn't like the Neutrogena, but some girls like it for acne/blackheads. I prefer a konjac sponge, or failing that, a washcloth. I exfoliate in the shower, but only about 2 or 3 times a week because my skin is sensitive. The warm water helps all the dead skin loosen up and come off easier, in my opinion.

The important thing with that method, though, is to be gentle. Don't scrub or rub hard, just massage/swipe gently with whatever you're using- facial skin is really delicate, even non-sensitive skins.

I'm pretty sure resting bitch face is mostly from the effect of your mouth + eyebrows.
Just frown in the mirror for a moment and compare to a relaxed face - obvsly your frown is more exaggerated than your bitchface. what happens is your eyes get closer to your eyebrows, eyes shrink a little. So? Combat it with eyebrows further away, large eye makeup.

That's my theory anyway. I know theories arent as good as fact but I figured you and perhaps others needed some sort of reply if not just a speculation.

do NOT exfoliate around your piercings until 1 month after the minimum heal time. fully remove the jewelry and exfoliate, rinse, lotion, and put the jewelry back in.
don't put honey near it, honey is not clean. it's too risky to put that near your piercings.

Urban Decay DeSlick. soak your face in it pre-make. like so your face looks drenched in sweat not actually super wet. if that makes sense.

My skin hates me, and I don't know what to do. It even stumped my dermatologist, but they mostly deal with anti-aging so I'm not surprised they wouldn't be able to help me. I can't tell if it's combination or really super-sensitive or what. I'm allergic to benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid does nothing for me, and it looks like every pore has either a small blackhead or those sebaceous filament things. But it's overall really uneven-looking and red (I'm really pale, so every discoloration shows). The only foundation that works for me is the Kat Von D, which is really heavy and I can't tell if it's making my face worse or not but I have to be made up for work. If I use makeup-removing wipes and then just water to wash my face, the areas that aren't clogged get more even-toned and less red but the breakouts get worse. If I exfoliate, it helps the breakouts a little bit but the uneven-ness gets worse. I also have icepick scars (I think that's what they're called). I've been on retinol, which did nothing for my blackheads, SFs, and scars. I've also tried the usual things that get recommended for sensitive skin (CeraVe, Cetaphil, rose water, oil cleansing, etc). My acne "cheat" is topical steroids - essentially, take out the inflammation and my skin looks one hell of a lot better - but obviously it's not a great long term solution and if you have a bacterial component to your acne it can make it worse. You also haven't mentioned whether you tried COC or antibiotics, but I imagine you'd already have noticed if it's hormonal/cyclical, and the latter wouldn't be fantastic if your skin is particularly sensitive already. It could also be a makeup allergy (there are some people who are legit allergic to everything in all makeup, even mineral ones) but if you have to wear that for work, that's not going to declare itself.

I use the ones that I'm not supposed to - dermol etc., hence why it's a really bad idea to use long term. Is it possible for certain areas of your face to have higher cell turnover than others? I (gently!) exfoliate my face every evening as part of my cleansing routine. If I skip the exfoliating step (but still use cleanser etc.) even once, the next day my nose and the area around it feel grubby and gross. If I even very lightly scape my nail over that area while my skin is wet, I scrape away a lot of stuff while nothing like that happens with my cheeks or forehead. I don't think it's just sebum; it doesn't look oily and my usual sebum-controlling methods only make it worse.

Any advice? It's not a huge problem because my normal cleansing routine controls it, but it still sucks for those few instances where I just can't fit the exfoliating step in.

I feel compelled to tell how I got over my bad skin.

Get more Linoleic acid in your diet.
People without acne has more Linoleic acid in their sebum vs. the acne prone people who have Oleic acid in their sebum which is more rigid and prone to clog the pores up.

"Dermatitis is one of the first signs of an Essential Fatty Acid deficiency in both humans and animals. Until 1955, one of the most widely applied treatments for atopic eczema was a high dose of GLA." (Gamma-linolenic acid)

And this at umm.edu/altmed/articles/gamma-linolenic-000305.htm:
"Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) is an omega-6 fatty acid that is found mostly in plant-based oils. Omega-6 fatty acids are considered essential fatty acids: They are necessary for human health but the body can' t make them -- you have to get them through food."

So, in summary, if we can eliminate oleic acid on the outside of our bodies by not putting it on our skin, but want to keep it from forming in our own sebum, it all goes back to a healthy diet, which will give us the EFA's that we so desperately need to control seb derm, etc.

Get a lot of Fish, nuts, oils or take supplements.

I don't have acne, just clogged skin. Blackheads and whiteheads at times. I took grapeseed oil supplements and ate fish and seeds when I can. it was so weird at first it was like nothing but I noticed when I was washing my face little grains of whatever were coming out of my skin and my skin started looking smoother. I think that the linoleic acid in my pores is lubricating the sebum plugs out, I was also using a facewash with Salycic acid at that time I think that helped too.

Linoleic acid, guys.

1. Try using sulfate-free shampoo and cone-free conditioner. Sulfates strip hair, and silicones -- while they "fill in" holes in the hair, thus making it more "full" -- also prevent moisture from penetrating the hair with extended use.

Your hair will probably hate this switch the first week. After that, though, your hair will likely start feeling lighter.

Make sure you're not washing your hair too often. Every day is definitely too often. Try to do it once every three days. If your hair feels greasy, use cornstarch as dry shampoo. Massage one teaspoon of cornstarch through your scalp, and brush it out. (Cocoa powder also works for dark hair.)

2. There's really no such treatment. But you can reduce stress to eyelids. Use only the ring finger, and pat, when applying product there. Keep your prescription up-to-date; if your contacts or glasses are not close to what your eyes need, it will make you squint more often, which means quicker wrinkles. Along the same line, use sunglasses (preferably polarized). The cheapest polarized sunglasses I've seen were $15, sold in Bartell Drugs.

3. Best makeup remover: Pond's cold cream. It will remove heavy-duty stuff, including the herpes of makeup, glitter. Massage a little all over face and neck, and then wipe it off with a tissue or a warm soaked towel. A thin film will remain on your skin afterwards, but for many people this is moisturizing, and they find they don't need additional moisturizer afterwards. For extra-delicate care on the eyes, put Vitamin E oil on a cotton ball, and rest it on the lid. The eye makeup will come off and go into the cotton.

Final disclaimer: everybody's skin and hair is different, so it's possible that none of my suggestions will end up working for you. You may have to try a variety of products before finding stuff that suits you best. Good luck!

I just got some Missha BB cream and I love it! The only problem is that I have to use a makeup remover and a cleanser to really get it off my face. Even then, there's some still on the cotton ball when I use my toner. I'm worried I'm not removing it properly or completely. In the past, I've just used really light moisturizers that have been easy to properly get off, so that's probably part of it as this BB is the thickest thing I've ever gotten. Make sure that they know the difference between white and gray. if they reach for blue toner, stop them cold. It should be purple. Also do not bleach your hair on your own, really as someone who has done both extensively a good hairstylist bleaching it for you can save lots and lots of hair.

As usual, bring a picture so they know what you're talking about. Don't bring a vague representation, bring what you want.

You sound like you're doing what you should for your hair, your hair dresser should do whatever he needs before bleaching so just treat as normal, maybe skip a wash or two before if you wash.

So I've started a retail job where I feel like I should actually wear makeup.

The problem is that I almost never wear makeup (even foundation) so I'm somewhat retarded at it. I bought powder foundation from a place in the mall (some sort of mineral stuff) but while I like the color, I don't think powder is for me. My skin is very dry and some parts get scaly, so when I use the powder it just enhances the scales. I've tried mixing the powder with some of my moisturizer with better results, but I figure I should just go with a BB cream.

There are so many kinds though, can anyone recommend a good one? For reference, I have very pale (natural redhead) pinkish skin that's dry most of the time. I don't get many pimples, but my skin-tone isn't exactly even.

I'm thinking of just grabbing something cheapish from the drugstore/target? Will it do what I want?

>> No.7114494

>>7114469
BB creams are hard to get by for really pale people. There should be lots of bb cream discussion in this thread already.

I'm pale as sin and Etude House (a Korean brand) is the only bb cream I found pale enough for me.
But you have to import it which is annoying.

If you google BB cream for pale people you will find some reccommendations and see if it might be the right colour for you.

A general tip if you have dry skin: ALWAYS apply cream first, even if you don't want to go for "proper foundation" and only want to go for bb cream.
It helps a ton, really.

Yeah, you definitely want to apply cream before bbcream. It will definitely make the application a lot smoother. BB cream should be a good choice though - I can't think of any drugstore brands that really specializes in superpale foundations.

I've got a question - I recently started getting some dark, but tiny spots on my face - any home remedies/cheap solutions? I tried some lemon juice but they just came back and I am starting to feel self-conscious. What can I do?

You made that make up general, didn't you? I'm the exact same, pinkish skin, but pale and very dry. BB cream is what I use, but I noticed VIP Gold ends up making me look extremely pink throughout the day.

It's not all drugstore, but this is my routine:

>Ceptaphil moisturizer
>Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel as a primer ( It works very well! )
>Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer
>Missha Perfect Cover BB cream (fingers work fine if you pat it on )

Then I go on with my eye make up. The only bad thing about Missha Perfect Cover is it does that; it covers too well. I end up looking like a ghost, so I end up wiping a little off where I'd apply blush. Just make sure you apply enough moisturizer and give it time to soak in, or it will look cakey/scaly. Good luck, anon!

Putting your hair up is basically the best idea for weddings, especially if it is your sister's wedding as you can't look too try hard.
If you have long hair the curls shouldn't stop you from most possibilities to do your hair up.
Braiding is a very good idea to make it a bit more fancy. If that particular way doesn't work with your hair length, try another one.
As an alternative, look at pic related.

I'm a bit late to the party but a lot of you have been asking about moisturizers and I've tried soo many so maybe I can be of help. As someone who has had horribly dry skin my whole life, which then got even more dry after I went on Accutane, I've tried pretty much everything. This Aveeno moisturizer (see pic) is the best I've used, and I've used it for years. Its rare that I get so excited about a product but i LOVE this. I buy it in bulk of like 1200mL lol. I have sensitive skin and its gentle and doesn't clog my pores. It feels a bit greasy when first applied as all moisturizers do, but after you rub it in all over your face and on your neck too, you'll notice after a few mins it kind of sinks into your skin, the moisture doesn't just sit on top, so the greasiness goes away. I use it every morning and every night, and sometimes in the afternoon. My skin is usually fine with this routine despite its dryness. But when it gets cold my skin gets even more dry so what I do is just rub plain white unflavored yogurt on my face and let it sit for like 15-20 mins. It feels so nice and works wonders! Do it like once a week or even every day if you want. Its simple, cheap and easy.

by the way, I mentioned I was on Accutane, which some of you struggling with acne may have considered. It completely cleared up my skin. I was on it about 3 years ago and my acne has not come back besides the occasional tiny zit. Yes it is a bit risky due to all the side effects so I only recommend trying it if your acne is quite severe and nothing else has worked. (I tried so many creams, over the counter and prescription, they did nothing). For some people the side effects of accutane are not worth the benefits. I was lucky to only experience slight side effects like dry skin/mouth, headaches, occasional dizziness, etc.
I compliments on having nice, clear skin now and it kind of surprises me after how awful my skin was for years.
Hope my personal experience helps some of you.

peppermint, mint in general, tea tree oil, lemon, lime, lavender, etc are all WAY too harsh to be used on the skin. tea tree oil and lavender are highly debated- but pretty much it's agree upon that these things are just too harsh.
(i say tea tree oil is okay for an exact spot treatment though)
when you get these things in cosmetics they're so heavily diluted down and processed to get just the good things out of them that you're hardly getting whatever it is. you're just getting the best thing from it.
pretty much avoid "natural skin care" unless you really know what you're doing because 99% of it is bad news, unfortunately.

Lemon juice isn't very good for your skin ('natural' doesn't automatically mean it's safe!) and you should never go out into the sunlight with citrus on your skin unless you want some nasty burns to go with that tan. It's really not worth it, IMO.

If your natural skin tone is light and you got darker through sun exposure, you should be able to get back to normal just by exfoliating and moisturizing well. Use products that stimulate shedding of old dark skin cells and the production of new, unexposed lighter ones. Don't go crazy with exfoliating/peeling because if your skin gets irritated you might end up with blotchy, unevenly pigmented skin rather than the nice even tan you have now.

There are supposed to be a bunch of skin-lightening agents out there that help fade hyperpigmentation like arbutin, liquorice root, vitamin C, vitamin B3 etc. but please do some research first because certain of these, like hydroquinone, have been linked to cancer. Be careful and most of all, be patient. This sort of thing takes time.
