This was my boyfriends first time cosplaying.

There are totally things that can be improved, I know the collar is kind of meh and the interfacing I went with wasn't stiff enough, but overall I'm pretty satisfied.

I will probably tweak both costumes if we ever decide to wear fun 80s mecha costumes to a con again. I feel like Cosplay should be a learning process full of revisions.

This is my newest costume. The things I have been thinking about fixing are the cross across my chest (It looks off. I think it's too thin) and my wig (I dunno what I was thinking I should have cut it more on the sides and on top of that it got a little dead in luggage). Also this angle is hilarious because it makes my legs look so short with these giant puffy chaps.

Yes, the entire wig is made up of 6 curls total on bases of jewelry wire and packing tape. The wig itself it fairly light and can be at least mildly reformed if anything wiggles out of space. Attaching the tutorial I put together, and one of the final product photos at the bottom shows the back. The curl on the far right got bent goofy as it kept making its way to the front of my face, but no worries bends right back into shape only sacrificing a few unruly hairs.

I wish I had a new cosplay to post but I havent been to a con since AX. And I have no pictures of Mera on my own, so I have a hallway shot to post instead.

I really like that you used a deeper red, it doesn't clash as much with the purple and almost makes it look plum and more realistic. What you have going with the hat is good, if you do remake it just try and get more height to it but it should come out glorious! You're a trooper for sewing the stripes and the gold brim and large laces, I'm a lazy ass that took the solid brown hat.

Here's mine. I did Myriel from Fire Emblem Awakening. I got to do a lot of first time things like making a Witch Hat, painting foam to look like metal, and craft foam boots. I need to remake my boots and use a thicker wire to keep my hat brim from sagging.

But, I had fun in it at least! Ignore the blank book, I was going to try to do some calligraphy 'spells' in it.

I have troubles calling it 'cosplay', since it's just some armor I had lying around, but it's also the first thing I've ever worn to a convention that's not jeans and a t-shirt.

I feel like you should replace the gold trim with something less shine, it's distracting from the rest of it and wrinkles badly. If not that, then least some interfacing.
Remmber to iron your outfit before you go out too! Maybe some touching up on the keyboard/piano prop around you too, it's kinda hard to tell what it is from far away. And with the expressions, look at your source material and prarice a couple of different expressions. Though all in all, it isn't that bad. Good for a first costume!

First time self-posting. I know I'm way too tall and not cutesy enough to be Bridget, but I fell in love with the character.

Roger is actually a backpack here, and he may or may not have had certain adult beverages for Dragoncon inside of him. I resewed lighter parts onto a thrift store bear and replaced the nose and eyes.

I swear my legs didn't look that pale in all of the pictures, just this one... but that's what I get for losing my nylons and trying to match tights last second. I wish I had pictures of all the lining and the crosses I put on the back, but oh well.

I was underweight myself for the longest time of my life - the reason has never been diagnosed really, some said it was due to genetic defect, others blamed it on tyroid issues and I can hardly count the therapists I was sent to since people said I was anorexic(which is the only cause I can rule out completely). Somewhere around age of 22, my metabolism changed and now I have to take care of what I eat for the first time in my life - oh do I miss eating countless bags of M&Ms a day ;)

Thank you so much, too! I used just regular craft foam and painted it over with glue and water then let it dry so it would fill in the pores. Once it was dry, I did about three coats of thick silver acrylic metallic paint.

It's called aspiration. In my grandfather's case, he had SILENT aspiration, which is where you don't realize it's happening - there's no choking or outward symptoms. It wasn't until he got pneumonia that they caught it and he did eventually die as a result (though he refused treatment).

Sorry about the terrible photoshop in this. I blocked my face because the original picture was awful and my shoop was worse LOL. Unfortunately this was the best shot I got of it before I started sweating off the fabric tape and glue.

I really want fix this costume up, so I'd love some critique on it. I scrapped the feet, and I'm going to try to remake them with some soft rigid foam and follow a tutorial closer. Also the claws got totaled so maybe I'll make them out of plastic or something rather than sculpey (no idea why i thought that would work...). Instead of the feet being like flat floppy duck feet I want to give them a bit more structure and look more rigid.
Also I'm thinking about getting a new wig. The one I bought has that weird super fluffy and thick short wig type hair that spikes up easier, whereas Ouka's hair is very sleek. Also it didn't frame my face well. I have a round face so short wigs make me look weird unless they fall very closely around my face.

Other than that there are little bits and bobs I wanna fix, or anything else others can point out!

Aw thanks! It actually wasn't too hard, just expensive because of all the fake fur. The whole thing is about 7-8' long. I just sewed a big tube of short fur, stuffed it with cheap plastic pillow stuffing, then scrunched the ends together and literally hot-glued them shut. Then I took a longer fur and sewed cones and did the same thing with the ends.Then I glued and stitched the two ends together and stitched and glued on black pleather.

Super easy, actually!

My first cosplay makes me a little mad these days. It was supposed to be different. The bottoms stretched over the weekend to show a little too much, the person I commissioned didn't do the vest because he had his own stuff to work on and was running out of time, and some of my cosplay stuff (wig, shoes, purse, misc.) were stolen out of my car, so I had to improvise. Though the second wig was honestly much better than the first, losing the shoes and various accessories was fucking terrible. Fuck thieves. Why do they want my wig, anyway? I'll be redoing the first one someday. I want to do it right.

It was baby's first cosplay, though. And I know better than to commission stuff now. I do my own stuff.

Second cosplay was a Roll, it was worn only once. Didn't get any good pics of that one, dark crowded concert. No real complaints about that one except for the sleeves which I had to rush through on the day of the concert because, again, the person I commissioned ran out of time. Plus the collar on the dress is a bit too large.

Third is the one I'll post and pretend I'm brave. Still not handmade entirely, but I did sew all the furry bits, and re-sewed the seams on that cheap catsuit. I'm learning. I was fucking pissed, because the red contacts I ordered for it months in advance didn't get there until after the con. The boots ran small, too.

I have so many cosplay ideas, but still lack the skills to do them. My next big cosplay is going to be a Monster Hunter armor set, and I'm so fucking intimidated.

I don't have a picture of my actual latest JoJo costume, which also needs some details remade on it, so have my next-to-latest.

I am so angry that my skirt rotated itself while I was sitting down but oh well, I got the photo I wanted, so that's all good. I'm also probably going to redo the neck and shoulder straps; I am not entirely happy with how they turned out, and I think it'd probably look better if I added a bunch of buckles like in the ASB model.

I actually learned from a slumber party with a couple of friends, and we dicked around with resin for awhile.

It's not as difficult as everyone makes it out to me.
Just mix your resin according the instructions, and pour it into the mold, after spraying it with the mold release. (That part I forgot to do, and actually had to tear the gems out of the cheapo plastic mold I bought.. Ended up fucking up my finger permanently too.. It still hurts 2 months later.)

It's definitely something you just have to try. It's not hard at all.

Ugh, this wig. Let me tell you about the nightmare that is trying to curl a Leia. It's the first Arda wig I've found that wouldn't curl and I just said fuck it. I tried every single curling method I know of, and then some, but it just wouldn't work. In hindsight, I really should have gotten a short wig and two of the long curly clips, but they were going through their restock and didn't have them. The wig is something that I'm still working on, and I thank you for the feedback.

The fabric I used melts rather than burns when exposed to an open flame. So I had to take small, sharp scissors and cut all the tiny rips and burns, then went over the edges with brown Sharpie (fabric paint and fabric pens bled everywhere) and then went over that with nail polish topcoat to prevent it from fraying. It took a very, very long time since the bottom of the circle skirt was all done that way.
In the show, that dress gets splashed a few times with acid and starts disintegrating. Of course, it's Queen's Blade so she ends up mostly naked, but I'm certainly not about to walk around a con like that, so I sewed the white dress and made it look burned instead.

Contouring is your best friend! I don't know a lot about it but if you look up some videos on youtube you can see how they shape their face to look more "manly" There are also certain eyeliner tricks to give you "less girlish" eyes. Vest of luck! As for your hairclips maybe make them out of pink insulation foam? That way you can sand it down and paint it to look like plastic and it will be light weight.

Okay no. Criticizing someones face is a dick move you do when you have nothing to actually say, and your build is generic guy, and since your costume isn't form fitting, as long as it fits, whatever. So we can't crit any of that shit.
As for your costume, we can't crit that either as you didn't fucking make it. That would be equivalent to someone buy a shirt from a department store and then asking people on how they can improve on their buying skills for the next shirt they buy.
If you want us to give you feedback that can help you improve on your work, we need to see YOUR work.

This is not to say that bought cosplays are wrong or anything. They are fine. They are just not someone that can be critiqued for you in any way that can help you improve as a cosplayer.
