Sometimes simple is to an advantage though. I'd be far more impressed by an excellently-done Naegi than a decently-done Celes, even if Naegi has a much less elaborate design. That's why really good Asahina cosplayers tend to stand out. Her design is so simple that if you get everything right, you look more impressive than the others.

Get one or two of those poster shipping tubes, brush the wig pigtails out, heavy hold gel or other hair product with similar effect, wrap around tubes, use some of that plastic wrap that sticks to itself to hold hair to tube at the end.

Just make sure you've got a fucking long ass wig if you're going for super accuracy.

Go as pale as possible for celes' face. Though on your picture it looks like you didn't cover quite enough with the foundation. Don't put such heavy blush on or any at all if you're doing celes.

The quality difference in this group is unbelievable. I like the Hinata and Komaeda (though they could have tried with their shoes). Twogami's pretty good- definitely one of the better Twogamis I've seen. Hanamura could have worked on their wig more, and Mikan's promising but missing her neck. I think Monomi's cute, and so is Monobear but as >>7090524 said they kind of look more like a cat. Gundam's pretty good too. The rest of the group is iffy.

But to answer your question, I bought this ( http://www.animestuffstore.com/shiki-snow-white-c-5691-p-1-pr-21983.html ) wig and used this tutorial ( http://classewig.com/wig/blog/?p=1678#more-1678 ) to cut it. I dyed the one side using the acrylic paint method. Diluting the water and going layer after layer until it was dark enough. Let it dry, sew it back together, style it, and put one to two more coats on. doot doot, wig!! Hope this wasn't too long aha.

Something tells me this is a selfpost. That being said, her costume is just a trainwreck. Cute girl, but she doesn't fit Chihiro very well and her costume really needs a good seam ripper to get rid of all those loose threads and fraying hems. Maybe if she did her makeup a little more boyish/androgynous she'd look better, but as of now she's just an average Chihiro.

The curls aren't an exact replication (kind of like how some Mami cosplayers go for softer twists instead of hard drills), but from what I can see here, they look nice. They look soft and fluffy, not ratty, and the girl overall has a good look for Celes. Curious to know how she styled them.

The other huge part of mass produced costumes is they tend not to fit most of the time, even you shell out for 'custom sizing'

imo, if you're going to buy it, pay the extra and commission it so you have more input on fabrics and details with the perfect fit for you.

It's a leather jacket, through and through. The zippers on the sleeves are pretty common in motorcycle jackets. You can use a duller, thinner pleather, and that might look nicer to you?

Diff anon. While I can definitely understand this, I think leather jackets tend to look a bit bulky on all the cosplayers I've seen. I've always preferred Kirigiris with nonleather jackets. It just looks nicer to me for some reason? Like a good polyester suiting or nice twill.

I think shiny vinyl is a universal NO, though. If you do go with pleather, I agree that a dull and thin material would be in your best interests.
