I think the edge that most Japanese cosplayers have is that you generally don't see too many fat ones. Not to say the cheap costumes, hooker boots, and crappy photo shop are great either. I've never understood the obsession with Asian cosplayers who look plastic, creeps me the fuck out.

Hey seagulls, I have a question.
I'm only 5'4 and I want to cosplay Sonia Nevermind. Do I go for shoes with a 4inch heel so I look a bit better proportioned heightwise or do I get a pair closer to canon so about 1-2 1/2 inch heels?

I love all cifera's cosplays, but this is one of my least favorites. It's good, but there are a few key points that really throw me off... the green looks wrong in most photos, her eyes aren't even blue (and no contacts either) and her wig is slightly inaccurate and styled very mediocre at best. (Although wigs are where cifera usually slips up a bit.) That said, she is one of the better Sonias anyway. This fandom lacks quality cosplayers, cifera's probably the best one we have that I know of.

Sonia's dress is another of those Dangan Ronpa colors as far as I can tell. I have the official phone strap and her dress is definitely dark green without a hint of blue on it and it also looks greener in the art book than on the game shots so I think it's more just preference where that's concerned. second of all. this is rather nitpicky, but get a new skirt. the pattern is inaccurate and the skirt is too long. a lot of junkos make the skirt too long. if you're not comfy with that length, then make the shirt longer to make the skirt seem shorter.

third of all. makeup. you lack heavily in that department. look into some gyaru/ulzzang tutorials and invest in some good false eyelashes.

As far as the skirt goes, I looked for a while and ended up buying some fabric that was on sale. Unfortunately i have huge hips and a big butt, so it's the only length I'm comfortable with, but I can definitely raise it for future photoshoots.

Look up some tutorials on youtube. I suggest getting a nice concealer, some liquid foundation and some powder foundation. If you have oily skin, powder foundation will help A LOT. Try some subtle brown eye shadow to bring out the shape of your eye, and maybe some green to bring out the brown eye colour and relate to her jumper. Liquid eyeliner, some false lashes, and good mascara go a long way, too. Get some nude to light pink lip gloss, and some very light pink blush. Apply the freckles randomly with a brown eyeliner then smudge a bit. Hope that helps!

(Also, even out the cutting on your wig a bit)

I was also going to suggest Popteen for makeup styles/tutorials - I think they have the gyaru look that would work best for Junko.

Messing around with makeup, I found a pretty easy way to do more subtle freckles

Get a bobby pin and some cheap brown eyeshadow (try dif shades). Scrape up the eyeshadow until you get some powder, then dot it onto your face using the balls of the bobby pin.

You could try getting one of the wigs from Arda in their dark purple. I ordered a wig in the color and it's really dark and pretty but still noticeably purple. (It's basically a mixed black/purple wig)

I have really sensitive, dry eyes, and I don't feel comfortable wearing circle lenses as they irritate them a ton. Would I get shit for not wearing blue circle lenses for Junko if I have brown eyes? :/

I feel like most long wigs out there are pretty limp. With Ibuki, you're going to have to do a lot of styling ANYWAY, so grab yourself a long arda wig if you're dead set against the Jareth and add in wefts. Then tease the shit out of it.
