Who do you guys think are the best and worst executed characters from each game when it comes to cosplay?

Worst: Kirigiri, Celes, Mondo, Akane?

I'm a little on the fence about some characters, like Junko, Asahina, Fukawa, Komaeda and Pekoyama, because they are so popular that there is an inevitable mix of good and bad. Others, like Hagakure and Nidai we barely see any of, so it's hard to make a call.

Nanami anon here from like three threads back. I finally got my photoshoot pictures back and decided to show you guys the final result of all of that wig advice I got! Thanks to everyone who was patient with me.

I'm still going to work to improve on my Nanami cosplay, like getting the right colour jogging fleece for the hoodie, but otherwise I'm pretty happy with it, I think!

I am, but my current foundation has some pretty shitty coverage, and I was running out of concealer. Once I get more money, I plan to buy more, higher quality makeup cause my face gets red really easily... any suggestions would be helpful! Try getting yourself a korean BB cream like Perfect Cover by Missha. If you can't afford or find a good skin match then go for something like a Western CC or BB cream, they're better at dealing with blotchy/red skin.
Also concealer with a little green, you can buy them but I don't remember the brand mine is and the label rubbed off but the green will combat the redness.

My wig was too light before the photo, so I darkened it with coffee and tea. Seemed to work a lot.

Photo is from the local journal. I haven't worn it at a con yet, so no finished photos have been taken.

I like the color of the wig actually, and you make a good togami! nothing visibly wrong with it you even have the right pin. I would say to perfect it 10/10 put on the right makeup like accentuate your eyebrows make them thinner and angry looking and put on eyeliner almost similar to this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHWa0jJsWKA)) but i feel like with your jawline it wouldn't fit. try it if your willing to perfect it makeup wise other than that the costume is spot on!

I was actually out of my contouring makeup, so I had to improvise with contouring of the jaw and stuff.
Same thing with the eyebrows (I have really dark and thick eyebrows, so I had to cover them).

As for eyeliner, I'm still trying to get use to doing it.

I've been cosplaying Fukawa for quite some time now, and I've been trying to improve the costume but I feel like I'm at a standstill. Can you help me out, /cgl/?
(The pic included isn't the best but it's the most recent)

Current plans:
-Lose weight (not joking; I feel dumpy in the costume).
-Do something with the wig? I need to add some volume to the top, which is a bit difficult because the braids are heavy. I'm thinking possibly getting some wefts to add to the top and then hiding the ends in the tops of the braids?
-Fix the sailor collar because holy shit I cannot get that right for some reason. Fixing the tie goes along with that.
-Do something about the scissors/tongue for Syo, although I might just drop them since everyone does her stuff now.

Anything else?

I think some backcombing could put volume into the wig just fine, but it doesn't seem like a big issue for me. You could trim /style the bangs to frame your face more though. Sailor collar needs fixing, the trim is pretty neat, but add some interfacing and try to adjust the pattern because your shoulders are not a box. Otherwise it's looking pretty good!

Honestly you need to look up a tutorial for the sailor collar, it looks like one piece but it's better to make it out of three so the shoulders have definition. Either that or add shoulder darts so it sits along your shoulder rather than the boxy effect it has right now.

The tongue looks... Off. I think it's because it looks so dry, I have no idea what you could do about that other than wetting it for photos (with water not spit because ew) or maybe giving it a coat of shiny varnish???

Trim and style the fringe, Fukawas fringe flips out and away from her face, it's not just pinned back, also get some shape into it around your face.

Eye make up is lovely but contouring your cheeks with a little bronzer would really make it I think, or if you have perhaps using a little more or a darker shade.

Otherwise I really like it and you're definitely on the right track.

My only worry about backcombing is that because the braids are so heavy, I worry that they'll just weigh it down and flatten again. I really need to wash it out, and, for whatever reason, no matter how many time i style the bangs, they fall out. I think starting over and restyling them entirely will help.

Additionally, I've always been on the fence between keeping the bangs accurate or making them frame my face. I have a weak jawline, so wigs that frame my face are infinitely more flattering for me, but the pic included is from her official reference. How would I go about mixing the two?

If you're really worried about the wig, just get a new one. I've really been wanting someone to use Arda's Leia in mahogany for Fukawa, and that would probably fix any volume issues you're having.

I've had a Leia wig from Arda before, and tbh it's one of the worst wigs I've ever owned. This was a while ago, but I feel like Arda's wigs aren't always up to the same standards and aren't worth the price.

That said, the mahogany color is really nice, and I know their fibers take heat styling well.

Hello, yes, I am the Chihiro. The cat tights were originally intended for Nanami, and I did have regular knee highs for Chihiro, but they wouldn't stay up even with fashion tape, so I figured the tights would look better than some jank-ass socks flopping around my ankles. The vest WAS to be fitted better, but that was more of a time constraint and it's considerably better now that I've taken in the sides and shortened the sleeves. I don't know what happened with the skirt, but it might have something to do with my doing 2 petticoats instead of 3, so I'll just have to remember that next time. I was trying to give it actual volume, since flat skirted Chihiros look very sad and deflated.

I only really like that Peko, but I don't even know if her wig/ makeup is good because of the mask.

Spending 24 hours painting your kimono is wasted time and effort when it's sewn poorly to begin with. You have an elaborate paint job (well actually it looks like you are missing a lot of details on the flowers but maybe the photo is obscuring them) on a garment that is puckered, wrinkly, and lumpy and appears to be puffed up with air at the bottom and the sleeves when it should be smooth and lying flat. That's why it looks rushed.

I'm planning on cosplaying Nanami, and I have an issue with almost all of the wigs I'm seeing. I see her hair as more of an ash/dirty blonde, but most wigs I see are an ash gray or lavender, and I really hate both of those interpretations of her hair color.

I really like this wig's color, and am thinking of cutting and styling it myself. What do you think of the color? Is it too blonde?

It doesn't fit.
It's extremely baggy in places (kimono is supposed to be tight fighting and should create a square silhouette. In particular where the sleeves are attached it's obvious that it's just way too large. The shoulder seam should lie on your shoulder not mid forearm. Your obi as also oversized. The paint job is fine, albeit it misses some of the finer details given in the ref art but it's lost among how oversized the kimono itself is.

I just assumed that some parts of some characters outfits (like Nanami's socks and Peko's top) are tinted strange colors because flat black would be boring. This reminds me and it might help future Pekoyama cosplayers. In those art book scans someone posted a few weeks ago, it lists her uniform color and tights color as 'black'. Not green, or blue, or teal, just black, so technically making it green isn't even accurate and is a waste of time. Tinting the fabric might make for good visual interest, but making it that super saturated green is not what you should be doing.

I've been looking up on Peko's character design trying to figure out what colors and fabric choices I would use for her, and I feel like a stretchy top fabric is the only way to show your curves like her top does. But as far as I can see, there are a few loose threads around the jacket, your red knee sash is drooping, getting lime green running shoes would be better than dark green keds, and also get the right clip. Your red jacket is more like a hoodie, which is inaccurate for Asahina, hers is more of a track/running jacket, and it'll look more fitted and better.

These are more finicky, nit picky details, but I would recommend getting a bright blue pair of lenses so we can actually see them against your darker skin! And put the symbol on your shorts, and tuck in your shorts strings! You could also stuff your bra a bit more if you want to to get the mega cleavage while still having a sort of athletic body.

Right now I'm looking at Epiccosplay's wigs and I kind of like their Purple Black Fusion, but I fear it might be too dark and they don't even have the length I want. and their Royal Purple seems too bright. I looked at assist cosplay, and their blackberry seems like the perfect shade, but I'm not sure $60 + shipping is what I want to pay. Especially since it says it'll tangle easier. (I've had an epiccosplay wig that was long and it didnt tangle easily so thats why its a bit of an issue for me). Ebay has some, but the pictures advertised for Mikan's wig look kind of gross.

You're a really cute Asahina, but I'm going to reeaaalllly nitpick this. Choose from it which you agree with and want to change.

Jacket: too loose imo, a bit too bright, and the pocket whites should be straight up/down. Collar needs to stick up. I'm presuming it's store bought? Look into making your own or altering it. You can make the collar stick up with heavy interfacing (try medium; iron on)

Shirt: Try a push up bra and a thicker white shirt. You can see through this shirt at some parts (ie breast area)

Shorts: They pull kinda awkwardly on your body. Look into getting tighter/darker ones. Her colour is closer to navy while yours is still at royal blue.

Legs: Like the other anon said, pull up the knee brace. Also, the bandaid should go vertically.

Shoes: Some lighter shoes that are actual running shoes would do you some good as well.

Head: I can't really see your pony tail, but your bangs look nice. You need a canon clip, though. Get some contacts and add a bit more make up (light lipgloss and subtle blush) and you'd look way better.

All around: very cute, nice pose, but your cosplay doesn't really fit your body.
