…I’m glad someone broke the ice and was honest. I kinda thought my community were the only ones who found brolitas awkward. Thankfully the brolitas in our group rarely attend meetups. I get secondhand embarrassment from them. It’s pretty fucking obvious they are guys… from their lack of fashion sense to their unfortunate faces. The fact they are so shy only adds to the creepiness factor. All in all, I would like brolitas if a majority of the straight ones knew how to fashion. It seems the gay ones are the only ones who are any good. And even they are pretty damn rare. Sorry… but not sorry.

So for any of you brolitas out there. We are judging you just as hard… if not harder than other women. You make our fashion look like a freakshow and if you lack the class or social graces you can forget about having any true ‘Lolita friends’. But who are we kidding? We all know you guys only do it as a fetish anyway.

I'm no brolita but I am a shameless crossdresser.

I agree with nearly everything you said when applied to crossdressers in general.

I am so sick of horrifying fashion decisions and general skeeviness associated with crossdressing. I realize it's hard to be socially well adjusted with such an "in the closet" type of hobby, but dammit.

Whenever you are doing shit, think "Am I making this really awkward for OTHER people? If so, how can I lessen it?" A good test to apply is: "If a genetic girl was doing this, would it be creepy/awkward?" If the answer is yes, ffs, it's not going to be less creepy/awkward for you.

All you crossdressers/crossplayers/brolitas, *I* am also judging you on your social graces, because you make the rest of us look like a freakshow.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way. I'll take it a step further and say that the only reason straight guys hang around lolitas is to get some lolita ass. It happened too many times in my local community for me to believe otherwise. The gay guys know what they are doing and participate in the fashion for the right reasons. Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel a lot of lolitas are very naive when it comes to straight guys in their lolita group. My local group recently came up with a questionnaire for new people to answer before they are allowed to join. I'm hoping that will help weed out some of these guys that keep joining, attending meets, and creeping on the girls.

>> No.7069435

I agree that the scary autistic crossdressing fetishists that plague our scene are a problem. However pigeonholing all brolitas as creepers is hardly fair. I do agree that trying to use lolita as a method of picking up girls is disgusting, not every brolita is out to do that. I've met several who are not gay, not in it as a fetish, not in it to get with lolitas, and in it because they genuinely love our fashion. While they are a not an overwhelming majority, hating all brolitas is not the answer. The answer is dealing with the cases as they come up in an appropriate fashion.

What I don't understand is why men feel the need to crossdress in Lolita fashion. There's a brolita in my comm who's really lovely. Socially normal in every ways and just genuinely appreciates feminine beauty and Lolita fashion. He's gay though. He doesn't bring second hand embarrassment to the group when we're out doing something because he actually makes an effort and passes well and fits in good with the group, and he has lovely outfits and is really creative when it comes to themed meetups.

There was once some weird dude who wanted to show up to a meetup, that everybody was very iffy about... he didn't really know anything about the fashion and just appeared from nowhere, luckily he never showed up and nobody heard from him ever again.

I think all the 'serious' examples in this thread (ie, the ones that aren't played for laughs - 'hur hur, dude in a dress' etc) are absolutely beautiful. I don't think it's about 'passing' per se, so much as embracing femininity, I don't think the brolitas here look like genetic young women in all honesty but I do think they look beautiful and feminine. I think a lot more genetic males might be up for embracing femininity if it wasn't for fear of ridicule - that's often where 'passing' comes into it, it's not always about wanting to be a woman so much as "if I can't 'pass' as female then I just might get beaten up". Brolitas are awesome, they might just need a bit of extra help and encouragement with styling etc as remember they probably haven't been able to practice and experiment for as long or as freely as most women can.

You're the same people who attacked women when they started to wear trousers.

A long long time women were shunned when they wore men's clothing. Times have changed, why not change again?

We are just not used to men in dresses. Really. If you're a man and dresses look good on you, why not wear it?

All i read out of statements like that is the pure fear of change and maybe someday trying to date one of those "traps"

True. Though, did you know that at one time, boys and girls all wore dresses as young children? Hell, pink was even a boy's color. Things mostly change due to marketing/media. Women didn't shave their armpits until a little while after sleeveless blouses happened. They read/heard about how it's gross, and you don't want to be that one lady with nasty pits. Before that it was considered a fetish.

Back on track. Honestly, I don't mind if men want to wear dresses. Be they men who are your average guy aside from having a similar aesthetic to us, or traps, it's really fine. So long as they aren't going out and creeping on others, getting super aroused by what they're wearing while in public, it's perfectly fine.

>> No.7072962

I agree with this to a point. One time our comm sat around discussing our ex's dicks and various female oriented sex stuff of that nature, I could see where it could get awkward having a straight male around while discussing such things, but that's a pretty extreme case. All I really expect is like you said: not be creepy, not be all sexual about it, and preferably be able to understand and join in on what we're talking about.

>If men had always been wearing skirts and blouses and stuff like that, we wouldn't think it's weird.

But the Scots and the Romans were already wearing skirts, and high heels were originally invented for horse back riding, which eventually turned into a male status-symbol, that women started wearing once it became "in style" to wear men's clothes. Also, as someone else has said, boys used to wear dresses along with the girls. Not to mention the whole "hair cutting" movement for women in the '20's, and women wearing pants, etc.

I'm perfectly fine with what you said.

Though all I'm hearing from other men is "You're gay", "faggot", "You're not a real man", "I'd be ashamed if i were you" et cetera

I'm a skinny guy with almost no body hair. When i shave, put my makeup on and wear my dress, people often mistake me for a girl.
When I tell them I'm a guy, most people react as though they find it really cool and exciting, but move away from me as soon as possible.

The most extreme situation was this: I was in a club, having a drink, then some dude tried to hit on me. I thanked him, but told him that i'm sorry, but that I'm not gay, though I appreciate his compliments.
He then slapped the drink out of my hand and threatened to punch me right in the face. He said if I would ever call him gay, he'd kill me.

Such guys, I can't understand.

The problem is, at least in my opinion, that whenever you see men advocating for men to wear dresses without stigma is that they're usually like Brolitajenny and rather than just wanting to wear feminine clothing for the sake of wearing it, they turn anything female or feminine into their fetish.

People like that, the loud and creepy minority, latching on to an already small community (brolitas/lolita) are very much why others are so leary. They're likely just not wanting to deal with such ingrates, and so are avoiding contact with anyone who could possibly be one of them.
It makes them take something from unusual and okay/tolerable, to "hell no".

Did you ever ask a drag queen why they wear big glistening dresses and makeup to look like a woman?
Straight and gay, some men want to feel like the star. From a friend of mine whose from the scene, some men come to realisation "it's a fancy night out.. but this isn't fair, all I can wear is a tuxedo and the only thing I can change is the tie, shirt and suit colour." Yet a woman can have a minimum of 5 different dress sillouettes, glamourous makeup, shoes and unlimited fancy updos. You don't feel like a queen or princess when you're in your prom dress? Some men want to feel like this too.

Yeah so not all men have the face of a 5 year old girl. Neither do most females, chill.

But really. If i am, say, an ugly guy, or a guy with broad shoulders and such, am i not allowed to live my feminine side?
If I am an ugly woman, can i not wear my dresses?

How about it being awkward for most prudent and naive people to have to be listening to that shit.

That is indeed another factor. Though if everyone in the group knows each other well and nobody is uncomfortable with it, I don't see why it's a problem at all.

Learn more about beauty tips and makeup. You can at least improve upon what you have.
>a guy with broad shoulders
There are women with broad shoulders as well. Look up body shapes, find the shape for broad-shouldered women. Search the term you get, and you'll get a plethora of information on what styles are most and least flattering on you.

True, but that's not to say that you can't improve upon it. I've seen girls with nasty cases of acne (not from hygiene problems but something else I don't recall) go from nasty looking to okay, with the power of makeup.

If there are features you want to draw attention to/from, you use contouring.

A little improvement is better than none at all.

That is true though.

What i meant are guys and girls with really crooked teeth, dented noses, beady eyes et cetera

But yeah, there are tricks to distract from it.

>>7073068
Mm, true.

I'd say crooked teeth aren't a big deal, though it's fixable if you have the money. A dented nose can be contoured some, and beady eyes could be fixed with makeup tricks and maybe even some circle lenses.

So much butthurt anti-brolita samefag in here. Are you bitter because you and your ugly man face are manlier than most brolitas? Most girls don't give a shit if they actually have a legitimate interest in the fashion.

I'm curious about brolitas.

Do they dress in womens clothng out of lolita? Why does everyone love them so much?

>Do they dress in womens clothng out of lolita?
It would depend on why they dress in lolita. If they're doing it because they only love the lolita silhouette, maybe not. If they do it because they like feminine styles, possibly.
Though, lolitas in general don't seem to dress very cute outside of lolita. Clothes money going to lolita, and all.

>Why does everyone love them so much?
Depends on where you go. Here, it's not so much "OMG I FUCKING LOVE YOU GUYS" as much as it is "Hey, you're cool as long as you're not being a creep about it."

If you're on tumblr, it's the SJWs.

>> No.7073125

If you think deeply about it, even real girls don't really look like "girls". We just tend to idealize things too much.

It depends on which country you're in, I guess. The ideal is basically whatever isn't the average / is rare.

If everyone looked like the ideal, they wouldn't be ideal anymore. It constantly changes, too. When food is more scarce, chubby is in, skinny is out. When the USA is full of fatsos, skinny is what's wanted.

People will always want what is rarest.

Not necessarily. We still find whites most beautiful even though they aren't rare, and if it weren't for some stupid bitch called Coco Chanel we'd still like pale skin best.

It's less about whites, and more about beautiful whites. I assure you, average white people are pretty "meh" looking.

For some reason, people prefer that. It may be the association with white being clean/pure/pretty, and something darker being dirty/evil/ugly. There was a study with children where they had a chart with simple drawings of kids, they were the same aside from their skin color which gradated from white to african black.

Almost all of the children, no matter what their race, said that the white children were preferable, that they wanted to look that way, that they hated their skin, that they thought the black child was ugly and bad.

Kinda sad, actually. Slightly off topic.

I don't think that is the case necessarily. I think it has a lot more to do with what has been considered 'higher class' in the past, some of it just sticks around to this day. For example, in a lot of east asian countries, pale skin is desirable and comes from people who laboured in the fields/outdoors got tanned, those who were rich enough to stay indoors stayed pale. In England, during the time of the Elizabethans, red hair was considered to be very beautiful. Actually they liked fair hair as well at that time, as it looked very virginal and pure, and many women did dye their hair or wear wigs.

>average white people are pretty "meh" looking.
It's still better/considered prettier than being black.

I think it's related to racism as well, though it probably does have some to do with what you said, just like closed = reserved and other associations we make.

The 3 brolitas I know

1
> wears punkish, masculine stuff. cosplays females
2
> dresses as male
3
> dresses as male but would like to dress as a female more often outside of his drag queen work (closeminded town)

not much of a consensus but there's some word in for you

My brolita friend dresses in masculine clothing as well, but he wears makeup most of the time. I've been friends with him since elementary school, long before he figured out he was gay and into crossdressing. I like him as a person and think he looks cute. As for other brolitas, I like the ones that actually look like girls. It's my fetish. It's not lolita specific, I just love traps.
