Well, most the latex ones I've seen are pretty shitty, have some details/colors wrong and lack the scultural definition to bring it to life.

I wasn't saying $300 is my limit on a plugsuit, just that's the price I've seen some latex ones for

Pic related is one I've found that's for sale for $1000 and it looks like shit which is why I'm asking you guys if there's a good place to buy one

I remember some years ago lulubird (asuka pictured in OP) said if she was commissioned to make one she'd charge something like 2 to 3 grand. You could ask to see if she's still willing to make one.

No, it was a one time deal, her sister (also in the pic) and her worked together to make the suits. They worked really fucking hard though. If you were to commission you would probably have to be around for the majority of the construction because these suits are skin tight.

As much as I love lulubird's Asuka I wouldn't pay that much to commission from her because her's has some sculptural flaws and imperfections.

My guess is that's why it was a one time deal. When she posted on here a few years back someone asked to commission a shinji (or asuka? I can't remember) suit, and while she said she'd toy with the idea and threw out some price ranges, it didn't seem like she was super excited to get started. IMO a costume of this caliber would burn me out way to soon.

Ushijima has by far made the best one. Completely made of latex, extremely tight, and all the proper attachments that make it look like it's not just a colored sheet. I only wish I could learn the details of how her suit was made...

The latex designer that made Ushijima's plugsuit is called "Kurage" I think it means jellyfish. He made the armor pieces by slicing several inch thick latex and gluing those pieces together. It actually has a nice effect.

I actually love Nikita's asuka cosplay. I would totally wear something like that. I wouldn't find fabric like this is my country. Anyone has tips for something like this?

I just rewatched the first episode of the original series and it's exactly like I said, dammit. Angel attacks, Shinji says he can't pilot. Gendo brings out injured as fuck Rei to pilot, Angel starts attacking NERV, mommy Eva protects Shinji. Shinji looks at super fucked up Rei, gets emotional, "I musn't run away", he agrees to pilot.

I emailed their shop a year ago and they didn't seem interested in making a plugsuit. You could also try "anatomic-latex" I think they have been considering making plugsuits at some point.

So on this note, how about making plusuits? I actually want to make an Asuka one too.
I was thinking buying a zentai, altering the shit out of it, but the colors of the fabric I:d have to buy for detailing trim might not match well enough. Is my only hope to but a million yards of wet-look and go from there?
If so, anyone have any tips for patterning a body suit. It would be my first skintight outfit.

I get it, she has severe mommy issues, she has severe self worth issues, she has severe self image issues, but none of those issues can be resolved or cured by downsizing the only people you're willing to talk to. If there's one thing I hate it's Asukafag's who put her on a fucking pedestal and try to act like everything she does wrong is somehow justified because of her issues, no other character fan base in Eva does that. Face it, Asuka's problems were not a valid excuse to treat everyone like they were below her, and because of that (I hate to say it) she had what was coming to her in the later episodes.

This is a useless venture. Plugsuits are impossible as costumes. Everything posted in this thread is proof.

The wetsuit is far from "custom fit"

Plugsuits are not just about a tight fitting base with decortions added on top, each person's torso, bust and other proportions are unique--- for instance the orange bust on that wetsuit is not flattering her boobs at all.

To create a plugsuit or have one comissioned, you would have to be fitted SEVERAL TIMES during the process, not just give your measuremets and expect it to custom fit you and look good. Even with a body double you will want to be working very closely with the seamstress.

Add in the difficulty of material, the seam patterning which will be a custom pattern each time you make it, and you can ten start to imagine the amount of hours it takes to create a really nice, custom fit and flattering plugsuit.

Buying "off the rack" will not be what you want. Also a wetsuit made of neoprene is not the kind of material you want for a plugsuit. Those are cool as very nerdy wetsuits for water sports and etc but not for serious cosplay

Considering how many different layers that probably had to be glued together for this, I really shouldn't be surprised. I have a few latex things myself, and the latex glued to zipper strips just won't stay put. What a shame...
