Just snagged this jsk at auction for a good price, I'm super excited! It's pretty summery, but summer lasts until Halloween here so I'll probably get to wear it a few times before it starts getting too chilly.
I'm so excited for fall though, I'm so ready for it not to be a billion degrees outside.

Also I have a fierce need for Pumpkin Cat's chocolate print dress, but screw that anon trying to sell it for like 160 CAD in the buy/sell/trade thread. What the actual fuck, anon.

Purchases, more like. Bought quite a few things in the past month. IW baroque jacquard skirt+corset set from their sale is on its way, Aatp Clockwork Aristokitty second hand also on its way, and Aatp Rose Ornament highwaist JSK and bonnet, Aatp Relief Print OP, h.Naoto blood yukata set, h.Naoto blood wa lolita set, IW Rococo Rose JSK and IW beluga JSK all via auction. Waiting on a my TaoBao order to arrive, too. Started it in February, had to wait for Phantom of the opera to be finished and Dark Box's Magie Astres dress to ship it. Hooray for chiffon!

>Hows your lolita summer? Ready for all that lolita-wearin' in the fall?!
Lol. It's winter here and I've been wearing it lots. I'm dying for spring to start, though. It's only just starting to warm up and while it's not quite cold enough for full coats, it's also not warm enough for my other jackets.

>Aquired any dream pieces lateley? Maybe added one to your list?
See my answer to the first question--Rococo Rose JSK in black. I was trying to find that particular JSK for about two years when I came across it the other night.

It depends on what kind of sweet lolita, really. You can accessorize with lots of things depending on what youre going for with the dress. If you want something more generally sweet lolita, anything that looks like AP plastic rings and necklaces with some bows. For a more mature sweet, I like pairing gold or silver necklaces and rings with my coord.

1-3 pairs is going to be expensive with shipping, just so you know. They only offer EMS and without the discount that shopping services give you.

As for those shoes she has on, I have the SS replicas of a previous season's similar design. They're really comfy, so I'd imagine any other knock-off in a similar design would be, so long as the company has a decent reputation.

implying implications
It's a good thing she does that though, that kind of honesty when selling stuff on the internet feels pretty damn good, especially after you've had a bad experience. I bought a bodyline blouse on ebay recently for full retail because it was sold out on the site and the girl was advertising it as "excellent condition - like new without damage". I received this thing and the entire bottom half of it had this dingy yellow stain like it had been sitting in a puddle dirty water or something, even though she shipped it to me in a bag that didn't have any damage to it at all. As soon as I contacted her about it, she offered me a refund and didn't even ask for pictures for proof. I haven't tried removing the stains yet but they should come out, I'm just agitated that she tried to pass this shit as "brand new condition".
Who knows, maybe the Honey Cake won't look so bad in person.

So when the main pieces of a coord have no black, the 'black shoes are okay if hair/wig/accessories are black' thing is a definite no, right?

>>7049237
As a general rule, I'd say it's a no. There might be a special case that could be made though, like this coord for example:
>>7047840
I don't think anyone would call you an ita you if you wore a black wig, shoes, and a couple of black accessories with this dress...but that may just be me. You'd still have to balance it correctly but I think it could be done. I guess I'm trying to say that you might be able to get away with it if your main pieces are a gemtone, or maybe even medium to dark grey...but black x pastels without any black in the foundation of your coord would be a definite no-no.
Pic related, I think this is stretching it too far.

Are you talking about Honey Cake? Because last week or the one before there were four HC jsks up for sale that I was aware of, and I didn't have money for any of them. Granted, one was that overpriced, damaged piece already mentioned in the thread.

This is a noob question, but I've never asked it:

How do you all dress yourselves? I've only been wearing lolita for ~6 months, and I still find it difficult to get everything on and looking good by myself. Zippers and whatnot are never a problem, but making sure my waist ties look good and the back lacing of my dress is neat can be difficult.

>> No.7049344

For waist ties, I generally turn the dress around to the front to tie it. For corset lacing, I get it where I want it using a mirror, then have my boyfriend tie it in a neat bow for me. I've taught him how to make sure the loops lie flat and everything. haha

Haven't quite convinced him to learn to tie waist bows.

Question about shoes:
I recently bought a pair of shoes that have a snap style clasp rather than a buckle. My previous lolita shoes have had the same fake buckle system and I've had no troubles with them. This pair however seems to unbuckle very easily when I walk. At first, I thought that they were too tight and the top of my foot was applying too much pressure so I loosened them a bit, but this did not help. In a 100m distance, they unsnapped 4 times! Has this happened to anyone before? Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I do, however, want to order a custom JSK from them, but I can't find any reviews that aren't over a year old, and I was wondering if their quality for custom-sized dresses has improved.

A lot of the reviews say they usually fuck up shoulder size.

I've seen the yellow switching go for 300-350 most often, but those were also usually with headbow or OTKs. The $200 was a fluke, imo, which is another reason I'm sad I missed it.
Pink and Mint go for about 250-300, too, iirc.
I've only seen one Ivory, posted at $370, not sure if it was sold or traded.
I'm planning on posting a WTB for yellow/ivory within the next month or so, and I've set myself a $350 limit, though I'd like to spend less.

Sorry for all of the info, I'm kind of obsessed with HC.

I practiced a lot to get waist ties right, and even then I might have to retie them. It really helps to see someone else do them or practice side by side. Right now I usually put the waist ties on and then tie them behind my back in front of a mirror. Corset ties are way too high to do myself though.

You could easily make one of those yourself. Use a bit softer tulle, I think the problem with the one in the picture is that it's too stiff and poofy. Also the edges seem to be unfinished. A project like this would be very cheap and really not require any skill at all, just cut tulle rectangles of various sizes and sew them together.

Just a little carriage necklace to match a skirt. It came in the mail today, so that was a nice surprise. I still have a blouse on the way.

>Hows your lolita summer? Ready for all that lolita-wearin' in the fall?!
I didn't wear too much in the summer, but I'm excited for fall. We've been having good weather, so I've started wearing it more. I can't wait until I can use the vintage coat that I bought last winter! It's so lovely and has ample room for petticoats!

Yesss. And No. I had two rareish dream dresses both pop up for unusually low prices at auction the week before last, and couldn't get either of them because I had too many other expenses. I was super bummed out, and really regretted having to let both of them go within a week's time. Fast forward to Saturday, one of my good friends finds one of them on a Japanese secondhand site for an amazing ¥16,800, and I caved. Like, I almost don't care about the money right now. Letting it go the previous two times that I've seen it for sale since it's release was painful, and I hopefully never have to feel that way again. It will probably be the last Lolita anything that I buy for a bit 'cos things are a little tight right now, but I'm so excited to get it in the mail, I don't care a bit.

Wow, I never realised they took off their contact section. In the past I was able to reply to the same email they use for sending the "thank you for your order" email as well as send message through the english contact us page.

Looking back in my order history, the longest time I had for the second email was between January 18th (first email) and February 14th (second payment email). In between, I also made another order (January 24th) and asked to combine orders. The order finally shipped February 22nd. So.... I guess waiting a month for a second email seems normal?

I actually just made an order on the 14th this month and thought they were taking a while to get back to me and haven't heard back yet. In their defense, they do have a sign on their shop about being swamped due to the sale, and the obon festival was just over, so maybe they're just swamped.

I recently went to the paris AP store and managed to snag a blue Dream Sky skirt (re-release), with matching barette and a navy blue melty moon bangle.

The rather surly fellow in the shop tried to tell me that I wouldn't fit in the skirt; that my waist was too big and it was too short for my legs. I basically had to beg him to take it off the mannequin for me to try on. I know I'm well below the max measurements and, hey presto, it fit just lovely on both my waist and legs. I felt a bit sad walking out of that shop even though I'd got myself a dream item. Awful service.

So am I the only one offended that someone's trying to sell these?
She's asking $15 before shipping from Australia, which to me is ridiculous. For just a couple dollars more you can buy brand new off-brand shoes that don't look like you've walked through hell. I would've just donated these if they were uncleanable, holy shit.
All of the shoes she's selling have scuffs like this too (as if she shuffles them together when she walks), but these look the worst because the other pairs she has for sale are black.
I mean, am I doing it wrong? Should I be trying to sell stuff this damaged as long as I don't ask for a ton of money? I mean really, are there people out there who would think this is a smart purchase??

On the one hand, those shoes are fucked up. On the other, money is a great thing to have. I don't blame the girl for wanting to sell those things, and really, whoever buys them (IF they even get sold) knows what they're in for. It'd be shady if she were just like "great condition, no one will notice the scuffs!" but it's hard to lie around those marks. I've used it in various ways, or attempted to. In general, any shop that you can get to accept an international credit card works fine. If not, you can use their buying service to buy the items directly for you. There is an extra service charge for this, but it's definitely an option if you find the website very confusing or if they don't accept international credit cards (some webshops are just weird like that).

If it's one of those super popular things that sells out in one second, no, you're better off with a more experienced shopping service.

Here's my experience so far:
I bought something from Moitie's japanese shop and paid with my credit card. Took the Moitie shop about a week to ship and the dress to get to Tenso. No problems there, aside from waiting for the shop staff to ship an expensive dress.

I used their buying service to buy a few small non lolita items, since I found the website confusing, and that came through fine too.

Failed attempts:
I tried to buy some stuff from Angelic Pretty's website, but there was not even a credit card option, so I ended up panicking and emailing them, they cancelled the order. Since I was already engaged in emailing them, I ended up asking them to put the items on the international site and managed to buy them without Tenso.

I tried to use the buying service to get some New Year's q-pot lucky packs, I included a note on when they go on sale. Tenso staff just refused the request saying the item was not available.

Different anon here. I don't think it's you. Different mods seem to be stricter or more lax on the replica rules, I guess it depends on your luck which one you get.

Personally I just chalk it up to part of the "costs" of dealing through the egl sales comm, same as dealing through the facebook comm is full of "loliable" shite, and dealing through ebay gets slightly less takers and more fees than the egl sales comm. The mods don't actually get paid and I don't pay any fees to sell my stuff, so I find it hard to complain when they're more or less *almost* consistent about the replica rules, and the ones that aren't are probably as confused as everybody else.

By the way. My very first sales post was rejected because I had a pair of secret shop socks included amongst the 32189501 other things I posted, even though I have seen other secret shop socks in sales posts before, one pair even the same as mine. I replaced my photo and resubmitted the post. Yes, it sucks and it's a bit of a delay, but the comm is still incredibly useful and mods are still *mostly* consistent about the replica rule.

I have a good answer to this: almost every hairstyle I wear, this includes natural hair and my wigs, covers my ears.

I have one hair style (double sock buns) that does not cover my ears, and I hardly wear it because it makes my head look super small. And on top of a big frilly dress, I look kind of silly. It's a hard hairstyle to use because it looks fine with classic since there's not as much poof, but it's more of a sweet hair style heh.

I took two years of French and a year of Mandarin Chinese in high school. I really want to pick them both back up in the future.

I knew that I wanted to take Japanese during college, but there aren't that many colleges around here that teach it. Since Japanese was only available as a minor, I majored in Spanish. If I hadn't, I would have never known how rich the cultures of Medieval Spain were. My favorite core class was definitely Muslim, Jewish, and Christian Literature in Medieval Spain.

>How long have you been into (as in wearing, not just watching) lolita?
Just over a year. Coords are waaaay better now than when I started!

>How many main pieces do you own?
13. Mostly jsks, split about evenly between brand and offbrand. Though one is an ETC jsk I'm not sure qualifies as lolita, and if it is it would definitely fall within casual or otome-ish because its a cutsew dress.
Right now I have two main pieces on the way (one is being made by a friend, one arrived in a group order from mbok but hasn't reached me yet). Also have another 2 ETC dresses on a short payment plan but again both are more otome/casual than the rest of my wardrobe.

Two pieces were gifts from friends and I'm planning on selling a few things before the end of the year. I've been figuring out what colors look best on me and right now my wardrobe is a weird mixture of darker old school stuff and OTT sweet prints and detailed sweet non-print jsks. Its like a sweet lolita time machine, from old school to present.

I have a part time job now, so I'm ok for spending money. I save some every month for normal expenses like food and stuff, but thankfully I'm living at home and my university tuition was paid a few years before I went to uni. I've been very fortunate.

- Bodyline jsk for $25 that normally sells for over $50
- $50 for an IW jsk
- $75 for a another IW jsk
- $80 for an old school Meta jsk
- ~$95 for an AP jsk from mbok, with shipping and fees

I have a couple of dresses that I prefer to wear to meets because I can go all out with them, and if people have seen me twice or more in the same thing they've never said anything and it'd be bloody rude if they did. I'm in the Air Force and live in the dorms and am on meal card, so I don't really have many "real" bills, so typically what I do is at the end of every pay period, whatever money I haven't spent on day to day stuff and bills, I put some in savings and spend the rest on lolita. I just recently started buying lolita, (I made my first purchase July 4th, after six long years of lurking) but I've amassed a decent wardrobe for daily casualish wear. I have four skirts, one JSK two blouses and three cutsews, tons of socks and two pairs of shoes, with another skirt, JSK and a sweater coming in the mail. Only one skirt is brand, but I'm building a decent sized wardrobe of offbrand first, so I can wear it daily without it looking off when I start wearing more brand.
