The Game of Thrones cosplays were the only costumes at Otakon I was impressed with. Is the whole fandom this good? Cause I might start working on Ramsay or something if this is the quality of costume this fandom tends to have.

Good and bad GoT cosplay thread go.

Uh, just follow a basic molding/casting tutorial and embed a LED with the leads sticking out. Then look up any basic LED tutorial (you'll need a battery, probably an appropriate resistor, and some very thin wire if you intend to run the battery pack behind the lattice of the necklace). Its all about the geometry; the electronics are _very_ simple. Unfortunately, I've done so much EE-ish shit I sort of just know and don't know any tutorials directly, sorry.

Start here for a basic primer: https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/light-emitting-diodes-leds/leds-without-math

Also sparkfun will have all the parts you need (battery, battery mount, resistor, LED). I'd possibly suggest the high-power LEDs because if you fuck up and put in the wrong/no resistor you won't blow it up (well, the failure isn't quite that dramatic, it'll just burn out). That said, long-term you want a very low current LED otherwise it could heat up and mess with your casting.

If you're crafty you can _probably_ even get away without soldering, but generally I'd suggest putting some sort of slip-fit connector (using a female header pin [you can search for this on sparkfun] to connect to the LED's terminals) and soldering to the connector, such that if you need to, you can 'unplug' the battery pack and leave the necklace unaltered (this is the setup I have).

Also if you want to put the battery/electronics into your dress rather than your necklace, look into the lilypad line of products. Its silver conductive thread + sewable pads rather than soldering, which isn't great for long connections (resistance per length is too high), but great for short connections that can be hidden in/under clothes.

Fuck it, selfposting. I'l decide if you think it's bad or good. If there's any way you think I could improve it, let me know.

Though, I swear the wig's normally better. I had forgotten that I took out the braids and had to do them in the car. Hence the floppiness.

It looks generally nice, just make sure you iron/steam the seams and the whole dress next time because it's looking wrinkled and the seams look unironed. I also think that for that costume you should have used a heavier weight fabric--this is Sansa's Winterfell dress, not one of her King's Landing gowns, so the material should be thicker.

>> No.7052263

>>7052160
The only thing I take issue with is that the hairline doesn't look as natural as it could look. Though with how well done everything else is, I bet you could easily ventilate the wig a little to get a less wiggy look.

That said, overall it's one of the best looking Sansa cosplays I've seen and I'm being nitpicky so feel free to ignore that.

>> No.7052295

>>7052253
Yeah, I kind of realized it was thicker after I bought the fabric, which was unfortunate. Perhaps I'll make her cape as well to hopefully give it a more Northern feel. With the amount I spent on the fabric, I'd rather not remake it completely. Do you think that would do?

And I agree about the ironing. My iron is on it's last leg and the seams keep popping back up because of that. I'll fix that for sure.

>>7052263
Good to know! It is lacefront, so adding a bit more should be pretty easy.

Cersei, Cat, Sansa, Jaime and Brienne because they're intriguing characters I wouldn't mind having a cup of tea with (or wine, in Cersei's case. Drunk Cersei is best Cersei). And Sam because he's my husbando.
I also have a thing for the Greyjoys even though they're horrible and would love to have more Melisandre chapters to at least try to understand what makes her tick. Most of my favourite POV characters are favourites because I find their stories interesting and not necessarily because they're likeable people.

>Jaime
He is my favorite character. I started out hating him in AGoT, but as soon as we get his POV, it becomes very clear that he is not the person he appears to be on the outside. I really fell in love with his character and his developement, and his relationship with Brienne (but I don't ship them, because shipping is fucking dumb)

>Davos
He is just so loyal and so real. He doesn't pretend to be anything other than what he is, and he always gives it to Stannis straight up. Some of my favorite quotes/scenes in the whole series are in his POVs.

>Cersei
Well I can't stand her as a person, but I love her paranoia and her downward spiral into madness (and alcoholism). The whole debacle with Marg and the Kettleblacks is one of the more entertaining plotlines in ASOIAF.

>Sansa
I really don't know why I like her chapters, but after she leaves KL they start to get more intersting. I am very curious to see where her character goes.

Cersei, Davos, Jaime, Arya, Cat, Brienne, Littlefinger, a whole bunch I'm forgetting.

Also I really love Daenerys even though, as this thread is informing me, I'm apparently a pleb for doing so? I've always loved how the triumphs and mistakes of her story are balanced. And I really liked watching her find herself in the early books--the scene where she rides out into the Dothraki sea on her own really stayed with me.

Only POV character?

>Sansa
I really like how GRRM writes how she's dealing with KL in the beginning. It's definitely something I really like reading because I can't imagine how almost any twelve year old could deal with something like that. After KL, I just. Do I need a reason for that? I just am really excited for her arc. I also love Sansa's POV because of the prophecies about her that occur in an Arya chapter.

>Arya
For the most part, I really liked her chapters when she's wandering around. Not digging The House of Black and White too much, but with the last cliffhanger, I think I definitely will enjoy it more.

>Melisandre
Because reading about her tricks and beliefs is completely fascinating to me. She went from being a psycho bitch to someone who's beliefs I can actually understand.

>Griff
I just really like Young Griff as a character, okay. I want to see what he's going to do and how far he's going to get. Too bad the 'Mummer's Dragon' thing will probably be him. Though, that's also possessive, so perhaps Young Griff is legitimate while Griff isn't? Who knows.

>Jaime
Because Jaime's past and present and how his emotions play out. I also really like comparing his relationship with Cersei through her point of view.

Other than POV character, Joffrey is definitely my favorite. I love reading about him in everyone's chapters.

Yes, Shae. In the books she's at least a stupid simple prostitute. In the series she's a streetwise intelligent smart cookie:^) who gets to tell Tyrone to fuck off all the time and he accepts it cause a noble like him cannot argue with someone so beautiful and perfect like her. Also she's a noble too actually, she was supposed to be the Queen of Essos but she decided it's misogynistic for her to be forced to become the queen so instead she ran away to Westeros where she could live like a strong independent woman (a whore) and she knew she would find her one true man there (Tyrone) because she's also a wizard who sees the future.
