We haven't had a buying/selling/trading horror story thread for a while so let's have another in which we can not only share our stories but also offer advice. Let's go!

>> No.7043154

I KEEP LOSING ALL THESE FUCKING AUCTIONS

I HAVE MONEY TO SPEND ON SALOPETTES, THERE AREN'T ENOUGH FOR ME TO BUY for a reasonable price of 7000 yen

>> No.7043157

First off I would like to tell me story as I am in need of some advice and someone might find it interesting.

About a month and a half ago I bought a headbow from a seller in the US. She said she was selling for a friend which seemed like it could be a bit dodgy but I went ahead and bought it anyway. I never received shipping confirmation and after a month left her a comment on LJ and asked her what was up. She didn't reply for a couple of days so I then messaged her on her FB which I found via LSE. She didn't help, just said that it should have arrived by then but to wait some more. I waited about a week but it still hadn't arrived so I messaged her again. She just said to wait more. I asked her when it was shipped and with what method and she could not tell me as her friend shipped it. I tried to contact her friend to no avail. This went on for about a week and all she could tell me was to contact the post office so I opened a dispute to cover my back. She stopped responding so I escalated it to a claim. Continuing in a new post.

>> No.7043162

>>7043157
After still no response, Paypal took my side but were taking awhile to send me a refund. The seller seemed to be a deadbeat so I left her negative feedback. It took me a few days to decide to do so and I felt really bad initally but I had been screwed over too many times before and I wanted to stop being such a doormat to shitty sellers. After that she suddenly responded with floods of apologies and excuses and many pleas for me to delete the feedback as her life was so hard right now etc etc. At first she was trying to guilt trip me non stop and then she started to try to intimidate me despite me having the mod's support. I got a refund after that and then changed the feedback to a neutral due to her terrible communication. She said she was happy with that but the mod told me that leaving a negative would be better due to her manipulative behaviour (guilt tripping me and being so pushy and intimidating). I wasn't going to until I went to message her and found that I had been blocked. That was the last straw so I left negative feedback. The whole time she had made me feel like I was a pest and below her even though I was only messaging her due to her unprofessionalism as a seller. Continuing again...

>> No.7043164

>>7043162
The next day I found lots of screened comments on my feedback page, she had tried to leave me negative feedback. Apparently I was "so awful to deal with that I have to take a break from selling..." and "Overall, I have never met such a vindictive and callous buyer....". I gave her so many goddamn chances and now I am pissed. Now I am scared I will have a vendetta chan or something. I feel so uncomfortable as I wanted to sort the whole thing out but she gave me no choice but to leave negative feedback. I don't know if I should message her or what. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

>> No.7043168

>>7043164
If you left her negative feedback, have no damage on your feedback page, and your money back, don't worry about it. Maybe you'll have a vendetta chan but it won't be that big of a deal-- she has to be mental to think that everything is "your fault". I wouldn't worry about it.

If you message her you're just going to open yourself up to more guilt tripping and abuse, so I wouldn't bother. You've left feedback, you have mod backing on your decision and clearly they're keeping an eye out for retaliatory feedback. I think you should just leave it as it is.

I would like to know who the seller is, but if you don't want to share I understand.

I completely understood that you were talking about paypal fees later in your post. P&P is a completely different phrase to PP, you see the big symbol in the middle? That's called an ampersand and it means the same as "And"

When you're shopping anywhere online, it is customary for the buyer to pay for the P&P/shipping, and those costs always include the packaging. When i have purchased something i note down what it was, the link, the date i paid and the date sent. I make a note of all these things in a file on my comp as well as the pic of the item so that if anything arrives broken, dirty, ect... i know who to contact and when i bought it.

This works for feedback as well since you have all the particulars and you also keep track of what you bought just in case something doesn't show up.

I mean, it was listed as MM, looked identical to the original -it was Angelica OP, so not to hard to mess that up- and she was incredibly polite. She only had it listed as about 50, with the shipping included, because of it not fitting or someother. If I was sure she knew, I would have a chat with paypal, but I really don't think she had any malicious intent. That and it's a whole lot of flak to sift through (paypal is notoriously shitty at business dealings) when it could have just been an honest mistake.
I didn't find her via the comm sales, so no one here should have anything to worry about.

> Me at fault:
The Royal Mail keeps changing their fees lately, it seems the website can't even keep track anymore. I had a dress I was planning to sell at some point in the future, but a girl who wanted it really badly as soon as she could and spomanaged to convince me to sell it. It was touch and go at first but everything was okay eventually, she was pre-warned of my busy timetable and the dress made it to her on time, selling it for a low price as I was tight on cash and didn't want to appear to be scalping.
Except, when I'd weighed the dress and used the online postage calculator I'd been quoted £2 cheaper than it turned out to be to send it. I was getting really low on cash at that point, so really every penny counted. In the end I asked her to paypal me the extra shipping £2 after the sale, which just seems so pathetic, and wouldn't have fought her if she didn't want to. She did, and I'm so glad, but I didn't send her a copy of the receipt, so to this day I'm worried she thought I was just trying to push a very minor scam or something.
I'm sorry dress-chan! I should have maybe double checked, but I wasn't lieing!

> Possibly someone else at fault, or just me again:
Total crybaby story here, but I bought a skirt on the egl sales comm that was just listed as a worn 'offbrand sailor lolita' skirt. When it arrived I learned it was shorter than I expected and actually from Topshop, I'd have still bought it if I knew where it was from but the fact it was withheld and the tag was hidden in the photo bugged me a bit. I paid about £30 for it, so I'm not sure if I paid full price or even more than the original price, but when all was done I mentioned it, before adding I loved the skirt and was happy with her service and could we do feedback. I messaged her twice and not a single reply, if she was scared of getting negative feedback she could have declined or even pretended she hadn't noticed the huge label on the skirt.

>My roomate decided to be nice and send the package out for me.
>he sends it first class (the slowest option), with no tracking, no insurance.
>I fucking panic because the girl wanted both of those.
>tell her the situation, and apologize profusely again. She says it's fine as long as it makes it in time for the IW teaparty.
>weeks pass and the event is approaching, and I'm in panic mode.
>she messages me and frustrated as fuck, I'm depressed because house search has denied us 2 times because we weren't a single family (2 roomates with us) and we're about to move into a janky-ass house that's old and has holes in the fucking garage shingles.

I know I probably shouldn't blindly trust everyone I do sell to since it's very naive and it could have gone really badly. I could have been fucked and lost the dress as well as $100. But it really makes me happy to know that there are people out there that are honest.

Can you still file a claim with Paypal?
Do that, ask her for the tracking code, and if you don't get it soon, escalate the claim.

I live in the uk and an old housemate of mine used to pull shit like this all the time. EG: be too lazy to ship out a dress, so would just put it off anfoff, then either say "OMG it got lost in post sorry", or "omg its just taking a long time" then rush out to post it.

I have been using royal mail for many years and I have never had a late or lost package yet.

Be prepared to open a disagreement is all I can say.

Along the same lines as the stories above:

Early March I purchased some Mbok items through a SS. I prearranged the SS to hold the items for a while because I was in the middle of a move and didn't know my address yet. -"Okay, no problem". Cool. A month or so passes by, we get into contact again. She was worried what happened to me and we set up to have my items shipped after a national holiday. The holiday pass, a few weeks later the package was sent. I was tracking it and noticed it was delayed in customs for about a week. Not a big deal, I've heard of this before so I decided to wait. Week goes by, I'm starting to get nervous. I call customs and find out the package was returned to sender THAT MORNING! (that was about 1 month ago).
I contact seller. It's a pain, but okay, no problem. REpay the shipping and wait for her to send it out. FML I hate customs

When one of my dream dresses didn't show up when it was supposed to, I was trying not to freak out, since it would have been really hard to find again. It came in a couple days later, but I was so worried there for a few days.

Sage for happy ending.
