Starting cut from 19% bodyfat after a 6 month bulk to hopefully ~10% in three months for Archer FS/N.

Swords about 50% finished, making the plans for the 'duster' ish thing tomorrow at the fabric shop my family owns.

Looking good! My friend's Archer swords are going to be cut very soon. Here's a picture of my finished dark Excalibur. I still need to coat it with something to keep the paint from coming off but I have a few weeks before my next con.

Looks snazzy. Is that single piece wood? Looks really continuous. By the way this is my first time ever crafting anything, and I haven't cosplayed before.

So to give a breakdown once I'm done finishing the woodwork I'm going to give it half a dozen really deep stains, soak some leather shoelaces overnight, wrap the handle and let it dry and tighten up.

For the blade once I'm done shaping it I have some Smooth-On Smooth-Cast 300 stuff, and was assuming I could 'paint' it on, proceed to sand it down to as smooth of a finish as I could, then hit with some high-gloss paint. From there I guess I need to seal it as well.

This was actually the first prop I did, and now I'm working on the armor for the rest of her outfit. It's a piece of birch wood. I didn't do the cutting, but I took care of the drawing/painting and helped with the sanding of it. It's one big piece.

That does sound good, but I wouldn't be able to help too much since mine is just wood. I know we used some kind of coating before I started painting it black/red, but I don't really remember what it was called. I still need to figure out how to paint the rest of her armor.

My process involved 3 layers, 1 thick middle layer and 2 skinny detail layers. Ignoring the shitty tape (I rewrapped it with leather recently), try getting 3 pieces of wood and making 3 separate layers. I used a bunch of fancy tools, but this can really all be done with only a few-

A hand saw, a wood rasp, some wood glue, and some sandpaper. By the looks of it, you already have clamps, so thats another helpful tool in your shed. The key is to get the main blade layer done, then add the handle details. If you'd like any more advice, feel free to email me (Same goes to any woodworking anons, I like making wooden anime weapons)

I'm not really sure if this is too purple. In other pictures the shoes have more blue but I took a picture of the shoe next to my figma for comparison at least. Anyone have an opinion on how it's looking?

I only have dark purple, black, and red paint, unfortunately. If other colors are needed I'll go get them, but I'd rather work with what I have.

Awesome! Where'd you order your wig from? I'm pretty much in charge of my friend's Archer so I ordered Marty from Arda Wigs. My friend's tried it on once but we still need to style it.

Would you mind me asking for tips on the pattern you're making? I'm horrible at patterns and I need to figure that out once I'm done with Saber here.

The wig I picked up from Cosplayhouse.com - I have no idea of the quality as I have nothing to compare it to, however, it looks good to me.

As for the pattern I have no experience with crafting apparel but a lot of experience in upholstery / drapery. So my intuitive sense told me to go to Goodwill, find clothing that fits really well for you, very form fitting - and from there disassemble it. (In picture.) Took about an hour or seam ripping, but worked alright.

From there I transferred the outlines to newspaper, and started free handing the edits I wanted to make. Cut out said newspaper, and with a handy amount of tape you can see if your ideas worked or not.

It's a lot of trial and error, but it's working thusfar. The under shirt was easy. (Black compression shirt. lolbodybuilding.) and the pants shouldn't kill me. Worbla just came in today for the details of the boots, the hand gaurds, and the 'metal straps' holding the duster in place.

I'm taking tonight off from crafting, still have over 70 days to go. This glass of Cabernet is for you Saber Alter.

Just walked back from Ace Hardware [about ten blocks each way] in about 100 degree weather thanks to living in south Florida. Got this spraypaint and I'm hoping it'll work out well. Right now I don't want to leave my room since I'm tired as fuck but I'll try it in a bit.

If that Rustoleum doesn't work out, you might try a silver basecoat (Duplicolor rim paint is the toughest spraypaint ever, you can find it at Pep Boys) with a Future polish + black/purple/blue acrylic paint topcoat, or just Future + purple if the shine is right but the color is wrong. Only idk if you can find Future in South Florida? I was living down there when I made Gilgamesh and I could not find any for the life of me ;___;

In other news, I want to cosplay Justeaze in the Dress of Heaven, but I'm trying to finish Gilgamesh props instead. Behold Enkidu; I am low-tier and cannot into LEDs or electric motors well enough to make Ea. Does anyone know the trick to engraving lines in MDF without having it become fuzzy and shit-terrible?

Here's what the shoes look like after painting. I know I missed a spot but I'm going to be patterning the gauntlets now [and it's night time] so I'll fix it tomorrow. I'm liking the color. Once I've painted the missing spots I'm going to go over it with a gloss sealant [but I'll try it out on another piece before I do anything to it].

Question, will spraying another layer help with hiding the lines I have here? If not, it's not too big a deal since it's not something noticeable. I'm just curious.

I've been hitting the gym and doing a bit of actual archery to work towards an Archer of (Fate/Zero) Lancer. Stature aside, I'm feeling really close. Hopefully, I can pull off an awesome one by my next con.

Archer F/SN here. Do a 3 day split, bulk now since you have plenty of time at ~400 cal/day 30/30/40, in about 3 months start doing minor cuts every 6-8 weeks for a week or two to progress check. Lift in the morning, do cardio / sport / practice at night. Enjoy rocking cosplay like a boss.
