I'm just not a big fan of raschel lace and the fact that it's coming off as a lace monster to me. I read the entire thread on Reddit about this girl and how her bf bought the outfit off of eBay for over $250. Just saying, it's not brand but an off-brand coordinate most likely made in China.

The entire dress seems to be made of horrible scratchy lace. If you removed the lace she'd be left standing in her underwear. The style of the dress seems pretty iffy as well. Maybe if someone who really knew their shit made it out of lolita-appropriate high quality fabric it could work, but as an overpriced ebay monstrosity, no.

Ive lurked enough to know a little bit already. Im not even saying id wear that dress or its so amazing (which i once again will say it is not). Ive just seen all these pics already I was putting in something new for once. I thought it didn't look that bad so I gave it a shot to see what some of you thought and although your entitled to your opinion it isn't enough to tell me i need to lurk and I dont know anything. It isnt fact that that coord isnt gothic, but I understand some might not like it and some might. Ive seen some dresses I thought were horrible on here and some liked it for whatever reason, but no one said that didnt know anything about it. cause its their opinion.

I usually wear sweet but have been falling in love with the simple elegance of non print dresses but no idea what to do with makeup.

With sweet I normally do the generic gal style big eye makeup. Currently going through this thread and saving all these pics as reference, thanks.

Personally I think black/blue/purple lipstick is too much and rarely done well. I prefer seeing bold eye makeup and more understated lips. Red lipstick is fine if it works with the co-ord, and with what sort of look yo. u're going for

Lipsticks/stains look a bit dated now. Blends and glosses look nicer, and even then the black/blue/red ones usually look a bit too much/costumey/tryhard.

I agree with >>7041974, deep reds can be really nice. I would definitely avoid orangey reds though.
I'm a little on the fence about bright crimson reds - on one hand they can look quite elegant sometimes because they invoke that old hollywood-style glamour, however it can come off as cheap and vampish, and even with the elegant hollwood pin-up style, I feel that it doesn't really match the gothic lolita aesthetic. It can come off as more rockabilly in some cases.

In the end, I think red lipsticks are fine, you just have to choose your colors very carefully
