How should I go about Yamada's hamster face? Just not do it, or marker or something else? Prosthetics maybe?

does anybody have a tutorial on tying up ponytails (in this case, pigatils I guess)? I've finished parting the wig down the middle and adding wefts in, but I'm having a lot of trouble neatly distributing the hair into the ponytail.

I don't have a tutorial but you just kinda pull it up layer by layer and brush a lot. You can also take out the wefts (keeping the lace base in) and then sew them back in with the hair on the wefts pointing up. It takes a while, though.

I've been looking at all the reference and I still can't decide whether Sonia's hair is a ponytail or ungodly inhumanly thick and slightly pulled back by the braid crown. I'm not sure whether to do some crazy shit involving foam core or make sure it falls properly with the braids and then sew an extra wig's worth of wefts into the back. What do you think?

It's the second one. The thread a while ago had a shot of her from the back. basically her pony tail goes all the way around, starting from her braid, and it just kinda lifts up and back underneath because the braid is so thick. Can't really see properly from the front if you do anything crazy, I just suggest making sure your wig is fairly thick.

I think it's pulled back behind her braid-headband, because it's too thick at the back to be a ponytail but since you can't really do that with real hair without it looking like a french braid, maybe you could do a compromise? Like leave some hair at the front to frame the face/make up the fringe, and visibly sweep the rest back under a braid from wefts for the 'headband'. And maybe tease it a bit at the top, and sweep it forward a little at the sides to give the appearance of volume.

Heya /cgl/, I'm planning my first cosplay in a few months. The character I'm going to be going as has short hair (Maybe an inch or two tops) spiked up. I for one like my hair, is it possible to fit this much hair in a hair net for such a short wig? If not, how much am I going to have to lop off?

I think it will be hard to spike it much since it wasn't made for that and will probably be comparatively thin near the top where you need the most hair.

Also if you're going to dye it, dye the whole thing, he doesn't have any kind of weird gradient effect to his hair like some characters do.

Best of luck with it, but I don't think this was a particularly good wig to start out with for this. (I agree that it would make a nice Togami wig, though.)

My wig has short hairs layered in with the long ones and it's giving me a hell of a time. the short hairs stick out if the wig gets shifted, and I think it's what's also responsible for the bulkiness that I can't get rid of.

Granted, most of the back won' even be visible due to the pigtails. I was wondering if I should just spray / gel / whatever the fuck out of those short hairs? On the other hand, is there any advice that could be given? I've been working on this wig for four hours just bundling it, then tying it, then letting it go. (repeat about 6 times for each side)

Having used a prosthetic almost exactly like this one for a costume, I think it would be too much for Yamada if you bought one like this to use, even if you cut the nose part off just for the lip bit.
But if you were able to make a subtler prosthetic like this one, it might look okay.

Also, if you make one/use one for Yamada, be sure not to adhere the curved edge to your lip, only the top edge and sides. Just a tip, since it helps so much with speaking, eating, drinking water, just general use of your face.

So, I'm starting on a Junko cosplay, and I don't know where to start for the wig? I've seen a couple friends get nice wigs from eBay but they just leave it flat and don't do anything to it. I was wondering if theres some tutorials out there to show a good way of teasing out a wig to make it look more..voluminous? I'm really nervous cause I know the wigs on Junko cosplayers kind of makes or breaks the costume. I'm also looking for the right shoes. Everyone I've seen uses knee high boots, but from the reference, it goes below her knees?

Regarding the boots, it really depends on how long your legs are, I think. Dangan Ronpa characters have impossibly long legs, so knee highs look a hell of a lot more /right/ in real life than mid calf boots, they might look a bit too short.

Take your time teasing the wig. You tease with a fine tooth or rattail comb, and just back comb it. Be careful since you want it to be teased but not messy. It will take patience. Hairspray after to hold (I recommend Got2B). My wig is from Taobao and even though I haven't made the cosplay yet it's a wonderful cosplay. Really look for that peachy/strawberry milkshake colour, don't settle for straight blonde or hot pink.

For the boots, I think just below the knee is perfect. I think about 16-20" is good depending on your height?

Either way, the bangs are a minor detail in the views of somebody who helped make the game, seeing as he always has a hat on. Ahh thats what I got for my Junko wig! The clips are REALLY thin though, so I ended up getting 4 clips, teased the top layer of 2 of them, and then clipped them together in a way so that the top of the pigtails were more rounded and super thick looking. I'm very happy with how it looks. One issue I have with a lot of the ebay junko wigs is that they're just straight and layered, when Junko's hair DOES have a little bit of wave to it, but it's hard to find clips that arent either just straight or just curly, but the epiccosplay clips are nice and wavy. Though sometimes it will photograph blonde so that kinda sucks

I usually pick the shows I watch first for the art style.
That's why I was late getting into DR, I too thought the art was gross. When I finally played the game I can understand why it's so popular.
The game is pretty stylish once you get used to the character designs. The tumblfuckery that goes on with the series is obviously shitty but I still love the game. (Don't judge the series off the anime, it's shit compared to the actual game.)

What's the issue here? It's animation, diversity and things not all looking the same is appealing to many. Art style doesn't always dictate if a show is good or not, but if something does manage to catch my eye because of the art style, I'm all for it.

Lots of hot glue! and I also followed glacear's tutorial (and anon's recommendations) and used gel, but not for the outer layer. I basically used a whole wig rather than wefts, and popped the wig on the foam core, then glued / gelled / sprayed the whole thing on, thinning as I went. for the last layer, we only sprayed and hot glued it.

There was a problem I encountered with this wig, and that was that pulling it up for stubbing, adding in the ponytails, and all those things made the wig smaller on my head. Wigs from taobao (ghostcos) have always been a bit of a tight fit, but this wig goes two inches above my actual hairline, which exposes my dark hair . Does anybody have advice on how to keep a wig at its original size, or even as to what I can do to make the wig bigger? I've already cut at several elastics inside the wig. I'm thinking I'll just have to buy two more wigs and redo the base hair, and add more wefts and elastics .. ?

Working with ponytail wigs, with either two or one, it's important that you wear the wig while you pull the fibers into the ponytails, so it will be sized to your head. If you did it while they were off, it could have caused the ponytails to be too tight and that is probably why it no longer fits.

I'd say the colors on all of them look pretty good, it depends on how much styling you're prepared to do to the pigtails. 2 would just need some teasing out, but is probably the pinkest. 3 I can't really tell how the volume will be because of the photo.

I would take each curly chunk individually and brush the curls to more of a wave, then, still with individual chunks, tease the hair, starting at the roots and going to about eye level. Then maybe hair spray the chunks to keep them a little separate? I dunno.

Haha, I know that feel anon. It looks great, and I like the amount of wave/curl going on in the pigtails. The only suggestions I have are to make sure the side-bangs fit your face closely, and if possible just floof up the pigtails a liiiiittle bit more, maybe something to do just before you wear it in case you mess it up.

Did anyone see any other Celestia cosplayers at Otakon though? There were 3 at the shoot, one was her, the other I forget the username of but i'm pretty sure hers is the wig that got over 20,000 notes on tumblr even for being wildly inaccurate (i'm picky with Celes wigs since i'm working on my own), and then one who gets points for trying but none for anything else. It's tape. The method that i'm using for my Celes is the one a lot are, it's taken off some Mami drill curl tutorials. You sandwich wire in between packing tape and then glue hair to it. But she clearly didn't use enough hair or rig it right.
