If you're wearing your jacket most of the time you should be fine; 5'2 and slim, I can get away with wearing a 12 as long as I have my jacket on. I would have preferred a 14 but they were sold out at the store I work at and I didn't want to hunt.

Anyone familiar with leather? I'm trying to figure out what weight of leather belting I need to get for the straps. I'm between 7-8 oz and 9-10 oz. I've done some casual leatherworking and I've got some heavier pieces (16 oz+) lying around, but I've never worked with the thinner stuff.

Shingeki no Pajamas arrived today.
I ordered a size Large from the Ebay distributed.

I'm 6'-1" and 150lbs so I'm quite slender.
The pants are tight around my waist (I have a size 29 waist). The shirt isn't long enough, but I can easily alter that.
I recommend getting the next size up to anyone thinking of buying them.

Any questions?

That's not going to be comfortable when you sleep. Synthetic fabrics don't breathe, so it's really easy to feel cold or break into a sweat in them. Also, it's likely to get static-y very easily.

You might want to redo the elastic waist if you really plan to use the pajamas for sleep. The waist band looks very thick and that's not going to be comfortable for sleep if it's tight already.

>>7010148
I actually wanted to dislike the manga and show because everyone and their mom is blathering on about it, I really tried not to like it. However, I started watching the show and decided maybe all the people losing their shit over this were perhaps right. The anime is good, the manga is more descriptive and more violent (awesome) and I like the storyline in general. That said, I think the tumblrfags just make it worse with incessant memes and reblogging the same shit we've seen weeks ago. Thankfully tumblr hasn't mirrored real life with it's annoyingness yet. I think I can live with the fanbase as of right now.

I haven't been to a con yet where this has had a massive presence but am going to Otakon next week, we'll see. I agree with the other Anon about no grey body paint, plus there are enough layers that provide decent protection against the dreaded "sweaty weeb hug attacks" you just can't say "No" in time to stop.

They would've made it in time if they had gotten it correct on the first 4 tries. The 4th one should've been fine, but they completely ignored an edit that I asked for (the bottom feather shape) and sent me a sample with the exact same problem 5 days later (they state that sewn-out samples and edits take 2-3 days max, I think my average was 5-6 days even with me badgering them when it passed 3 days).

It wasn't as if it was an impossible suggestion. The first sample that they sent me had the shape correct, then for some reason they fucked it up on the second edit and wouldn't change it back. I literally sent them a picture of the first sample with the shape circled, asked them "make it exactly like this" and they completely ignored it.

As for the cheery tone, it's hard to explain but it absolutely wasn't appropriate. When someone gives you a "hard" deadline and you can't meet it, wouldn't you offer at least some kind of apology or at least acknowledge that you've caused the other party trouble?

What's your box's main material? Wood? If so, what kind?

Here's my shooters. I know, they're ginormous, and have a big random box behind it. The fan runs on airsoft batteries so I needed a place to put them...

I notice some people have trouble with what to make the harness material.
Full on leather blanks everywhere would be expensive.
So what I did was use brown foam with shoe polish and varnish (I'm guessing this is well known), made the harness (only leg part for me), and backed it with nylon strapping.
My group found a huge, huge sack of nothing but nylon strapping for $1 at a Goodwill, so my leg harnesses were dirt cheap. Don't know how much nylon webbing is per foot/yard, but just thought I'd share how I did mines which imo is economical and decent looking...

And shitty cellphone pic of front.
The cross straps down the leg weren't done yet in this picture though, but it's more or less what pseudo-leather'd foam looks like.

It wrinkles pretty easily, but it has an aged look when it does.
Lots of rubbing can make the varnish flake though, which happened after 4 days of wearing with gear on, but brushing on more varnish to touch it up is cheap and quick. 2 minutes tops.

Anyways hope this helps anyone pondering about harness material...

How strict is Otakon with their weapons policy? I'm painting a broken airsoft pistol to be Panty's gun. They are pretty strict about guns unless it's so obviously a sci-fi/fantasy-ish designed prop. It won't matter if you remove the trigger or if the gun is broken, they have a no airsoft rule. PVC pipes (lol) and a rubber seat foot at the bottom.
The handle part is a bunch of 1/2" PVCs coupled together, and the bike handle is bolted straight onto the 1/2" PVC core. Then a PVC tee at the top (with a small tidbit of 1/2" pipe at the back cover with a cap), with some cutouts for the blades to go in. Wire, spring, and shelf support, connected to bike lever, make up the detachable function.
Bottom of handle (seat butt) is rub-and-buffed (silver leaf), handle itself is wrapped in carbon fiber vinyl, bike handle is rub-and-buffed to get rid of bike logos, and PVC tee was Rustoleum Nickel.

It's in no way visually accurate but our group didn't really have time to try our hands with wood or order plastics online by the time AX was around. Plus we really wanted function and availability of PVC pipe gave us a ton of leeway to experiment with.

SnK is popular because it's good. The series is entertaining, the characters are well written, and monkey trouble will throw rocks all in your shit. The writer does a good job of balancing his gritty z0mgsodark world with humor. The drawing is also inclusive, so it doesn't matter what kind of anime/manga you prefer, anyone can enjoy it. Nah, it'll definitely be around for a while.

I'm not implying it's that good though. There are a decent number of long-running series that start off fantastic but peter out when the publishing companies try to push the mangaka to drag it out as long as possible. This is where the repetition begins (Claymore) or the mangaka chooses to use plot points that are constantly rehashed or generic (Naruto, KHR, the final arcs of Eyeshield 21), makes complete asspulls (Bleach), digs himself into a hole story-wise (GANTZ), or completely forgets what the shit they were writing about in the first place (D-Gray Man, Rosario+Vampire, every Oh! Great manga in existence). Of course there are a couple exceptions, like One Piece and JJBA. And Jojo in particular works really well because it's split into different generations.

SnK seems to be doing fairly well right now, but it will be very difficult for the creator to avoid falling into any of those traps. It's obvious he wasn't expecting the series to actually be this popular, which could wind up with him not knowing where to go plot-wise in the future.

>>7020018
>the characters are well written
I think that's more like the fanbase throwing their interpretations on secondary characters that barely have any personality in the manga. There's just so many characters people attach themselves to whoever they think they can relate to or think looks cool.

>> No.7020177

>>7020100
The fanbase is actually the kind to flatten the characters out. The characters themselves are pretty fleshed-out. Some of them were kept from getting development because it was supposed to come in a story arc, and we still are waiting to see more of characters like Zoe Hange and Levi because of their implied pasts, but otherwise they're very well-written. Sasha, for example, has an interesting storyline behind her and how she decided to prove herself to her father, but people just flatten her out to be 'funny little potato girl.'

Both Naruto and One Piece are extremely original. Just because they're shit (especially the former) doesn't mean they're not original.

I mean, you have to give them that much credit. Yes, even Naruto. I mean come the fuck on. It has Kakashi (there's just no bad thing I could say about him), Gaara (a guy who controls sand - sure One Piece did it first but it wasn't done this well), the Sharingan and Byakugan concepts were fucking pretty cool (powers that enhance vision beyond the standard "zomg Eagle Eyes!" and are actually useful in combat without giving the power to shoot laZers), everything about Shikamaru is just A fucking plus (a guy who uses his shadows to paralyze and control his opponents movements with the shadows actually playing a role in it + the way he defeats his opponents is just so fucking amazing when you compare it to the usual "good guy gets beaten, beaten, beaten, then he goes super sayian and he wins") and half the Akatsuki members have a pretty original spin on their abilities too, even though it comes from a more mundane focal point.

So yes, the story is shit, the characters are shit, it's predictable (Nuruto always beats the main bad guy after 3-9 episodes of charging up his FOX RAEG), but the bad guys are much more varied and original in terms of abilities than the fucking Titans (where you are literally supposed to be amazed that one of them can jump, another can talk because he's hairy, or he has !!!armor, or is !!! 60m tall !!!...) and are much more often dealt with in an original fashion (=when it's not Nuruto or Saskay killing them).

I saw every episode so far, so tell me. I've even read the wikia hoping there would be some deep explanation for those stupid Titan fucking shits, hoping the main bad guys (you know the ones who can also change...) have some actual motivation, like there's a twist to it, like there's actually people in the outside world who cohabit with the Titans but there's nothing.

Everything you said that is original about Naruto has been used somewhere else. Magical eyes are not original. Controlling the elements is not original. There are some original concepts, sure, but things like controlling sand/water/whatever aren't that amazing.
Titans aren't magical beings(I mean, beyond the fact they thrive only on sunlight)that shoot lasers from their eyes or can walk on fucking water. "Originality" where it is not needed makes a story shittier and shittier. The point of titans is not "OH MY GOD LOOK THAT ONE CAN PUT YOU IN A SAND TOMB," it's that they're horrific beings and every time you think you know something about them(they're non-intelligent, they only get to a certain height, etc), suddenly a new one pops up and the mystery increases.
Putting too much shitty "originality" in something makes you sound like a stupid 12-year-old girl from Deviantart who doesn't know how to write a story correctly.

They obviously had no use for them so they just sent them. I've got the correct number of smalls, a fuckton of mediums, and about double the larges.

Now that I know it's not going to be a problem, I'm so okay with this.
On the other side, there are a couple full sets of patches with kind of loose stitching. Nothing awful but I definitely won't sell them full price, in case anyone needs some cheap. I'll try to list those up tonight.

I actually disagree with that point, I think it's possible that it's our universe that had fallen into complete disarray and there are certain things in the story that point to this possibility, one thing that wouldn't be a spoiler for anime people being the fact that they talk about the same countries we have and the same racial divides we have. I'm starting the sculpt for the side thigh pieces as soon as the rest of the patches are mailed out. I'm building a full internal harness out of elastic to support the 3DMG since I don't want any extra straps on the outside.

I'll ship anywhere EXCEPT PORTUGAL DEAR GOD. I have had so much trouble getting these patches to Portugal it's not even funny.

For everyone else, barring those who still need to send me their addresses and international orders, everything's been sent out and tracking numbers have been sent to your primary emails. International orders will go out on Monday. I tried yesterday, but I live on a military base and apparently Friday's a furlough day so no one was working the window. Grrrrreat.

In other news, got an Arda Pippin for Levi. Dear lord this thing is thick. I've just been sitting here stroking it.

Did Pattern Anon give up or is she/he still trying to wrestle with AutoCAD?

I'm kinda holding my breath for that pattern....

I can't wait to see your Levi. Will you be posting more progress pictures?

PA's friend here, she'll know who.

Pattern Anon is struggling to get through, but she's been really fucking down the past month since AX due to personal shit, and I know she's been avoiding the SNK threads.

Girl, I know you'll read this, so hear me out. He might not be a bad person, but he's still a selfish fuck who needs to grow up before he can love you the same way you love him. You're a good person with better things to cry about, like how fucking slow SnK releases are.

You can do it!

>like how fucking slow SnK releases are
Ain't that just the truth. I sometimes wonder if that's why the anime seems to have shitty pacing, since the manga chapters only seem to come out maybe once a month.

Not in the slightest. The female titan is pretty hot as well. Too bad dancing titan, colossal titan and armored titan didn't get the same sexy treatment. Nah, jk, it's better that those ones aren't sexy. Especially dancing titan.

Get as many reference images as you can as dimensions and designs are not always consistent and decide what is good for you. I'll tell you one thing, and that is there isn't really a "standard" size for 3DMG. They are scaled differently depending on character.

Thanks anons. I love you lots. So yeah. Patches are on sale there and the 4-patch set is selling quick as hell. First two days and half my stock is wiped.

I'm voiding orders that still haven't been paid for yet tomorrow when I wake up, so that'll add a little stock.
People should start receiving packages starting tomorrow for priority, so I'll go ahead and apologize for my awful drawings.

Is there a way for you to add a thing where you can see what remaining stock is left? Still waiting on someone on my end to confirm before I can decide whether to buy patches or not. Hot dang, these patches are so beautiful, they look better than the ones on Taobao.
Another question, does the price include international shipping? Because I'm just looking at the screen before paying and it's giving me a $0 estimate for international shipping to NZ.
