I think "ita sweet" is just the easiest to throw together with what's available these days. When you have a distorted/uneducated mental image of what sweet lolita is supposed to look like, it's pretty easy to hop on ebay and grab a pink lace monster and then run to the kids' section at Target to accessorize. I don't think sweet is hard to put together, though you really do have to have the right look for it (swimmer's shoulders and a long face with prominent features like mine aren't very kawaii after all.)

I'm also browsing the "sweet lolita" tag on deviantart right now so that's why this thread is 99% sweet. Gothic's got a long history of horrid offenders too, since there are so many people outside of the fashion who think that sweet and gothic are the only two versions of the style that even exist.
