Don't I know it! Sometimes it's frustrating, other times it's nice when he gets what he deserves.

I'm remembering a few times when Junji Ito made me tear up, but I can't remember which stories... besides that one in Uzumaki when a couple elongated and spiraled into each other like some loving pair of snakes, and then that ending.

Ito can really draw beautiful girls. Too bad they're almost all deformed or insane. ;_;

Cat Diary was wonderful to read, but at the same time, it's making me anticipate another pet in this apartment. There was a stray that found its way into my apartment and my flatmates agreed to take care of it until we could find a place for it. Thank God it's gone. I wish that poop prank scene didn't get to me. The former cat used to poop outside its little box to spite us.

Blegh. New flattmate wants to bring her cat when she moves in, Granted, we were promised that it is just going to stay in her room, but I'm still not looking forward to having to get used to cat smell. I just hope the ammonia from it's litter box doesn't find its way to my room. It's unfortunate that I have to pass by her room to get to mine. I know that cat owners get used to cat smell, but I could never sleep in the same room where there's poop in it.

Man, why can't my roommates be financially responsible and follow the rules. We're not allowed to have pets. Just, wtf, people.

See, I'd get that with Uzumaki and Tomie. A lot of my friends are only familiar with either of those two when it comes to Junji Ito, and the opinion of those two are always "Ewww so gross and scary, made me piss my pants!!". I love both of them, but they are really overrated as there are so many of his other stories that are so much better.
Stories like The Back Alley, Heart of a Father and The Window Next Door all legitimately scared me to hell and back. The first, second and final chapter of Mimi's Ghost Stories also creeped me out like whoa.
Otherwise I consider most of his other pieces art. Every story with Souchi in it is comic relief, Junji Ito style.

If you want realism, take a look at Unbearable Maze, Gang House, The Bridge, Dying Young, The Devil's Logic (one that really got me back in the day), The Town Without Streets, The Bully, Memory, Love as Scripted and In the Soil.
Not all of them are super scary, and some has paranormal elements (I mean, this is horror and Junji Ito and all). But they all have a big hint of realism, depending on how paranoid and anxious you are.

Just do it anyway. I do this all the time, and while almost no one will ask for my picture it is nice to dress up as something I love because I can. The nice thing about cosplaying unknown stuff is that no one can accuse you of getting a costume off of ebay because no one knows about what you are wearing.
