Hey cgl, some quick advice please.

I've been trying to do Heidi braids in my hair, and I think it's just slightly too short... it's about nipple-length right now which is the longest it'll grow; when I put it up, I try to do the braids tight to get the most length out of them, but whenever I pin them up, even if I tuck and bobbypin the ends a lot, I still get hair trying to escape out of the braids and the tucked ends. Any advice to make them stay put?

I also feel like my hair doesn't make thick enough braids to be really noticeable, but I don't think there's anything I can do about that.
