/cgl/ I need a little help. I'm completely new to cosplay but I'd like to cosplay Akashi from Tatami Galaxy to my first convention. The convention is very soon, but it seems like it would be a pretty easy idea to make and I love the character, but I have no idea where to start. I've sewn very little, but maybe someone could provide me with a pattern for her dress or some tips? Sorry if this is the wrong board, I will delete if it is.

Good taste anon.
Honestly though if you've never sewn that much before and the deadline is soon as you said in your post, I wouldn't try sewing clothes. I would save the project for another event.

As for resources, there are plenty online. Cosplay tutorial.com can help. There are commercial patterns kind of similar to her clothes that you can buy in a local fabric/craft store like Joanns.

Can't help much with your pattern woes but if you need a wig, silky.tmall.com has this one that seems perfect
Maybe try some lolita dress patterns with a round yoke neckline?

That is a really cute wig and perfect but I've never actually bought anything from overseas so I'm a little hesitant and not sure how to go about it to be honest. Thanks for the tip though.

OP I found several versions of this dress, for under $20, with minimal work needed on taobao
You'd probably spend more in fabric and time over a dress that's already made

Most of the time you use a shopping service, which acts as a go-between. You start with an initial payment of the product, then when they receive it (and some will send you proof pictures) you pay shipping and they send it over.

Very cute, but I'd rather not purchase from overseas if I can help it..just because I've never done it before and because I'm worried about hidden charges and it taking a long time to get here when I need the cosplay (if I'm doing it at all) soon. Thank you for searching for me though.

Maybe try a babydoll dress pattern with a peter pan collar neck?
