Does anyone have any examples of lolitas going into a more historical route?
The fashion obviously has roots in a historical fashion, but I really like the certain pictures where they go full out to make themselves fit in with a certain time period.

What's the difference between classic Lolita and... historical?

>> No.6991538

I think the dress (and hair) is just massively unflattering.

>>6991521
In my opinion, the difference is when it goes from a coord pulling from multiple frames of reference (a bit of Victorian, a bit of 50's retro, a bit of whatever else), to pulling from just one era.

>> No.6991542

>>6991521
Classic lolita can have historical influences, but it doesn't have to have them... and usually the historical influence is limited to things like "oh, this dress has a white underskirt with a 'robe' style overdress, kinda like an 18th century dress!" whereas "Historical" outfits (Whether it's just the dress like >>6991431
or the whole shebang like >>6991324) are more deliberately modeled after historical fashion.

>>6991615
Nope.

Got the underbust, and the chest window is too short for your boobs to actually go through, it actually cradles the bottom inch or two of mine and I have a very short torso with B cups. I don't know if my boobs just aren't high enough to go through properly or if it's supposed to be that way, but it feels like a fairly snug fit.

The fit on the bodice is pretty meh, to be honest. There's no structure in the waistband/boobcradle, no boning or even interfacing that I can feel, so the fabric sort of bags off of the lining under your boobs, and the corseting down't do much to help that. The back nape also seems to have a tendency to gape because the shoulderstraps wiggle inward. It's kind of disappointing, honestly. Other than that it's fine, but..

Offtopic for this thread, but I thought I'd share.

As much as I love IW, I'm not a big fan of the stained glass craze, so the print isn't doing much for me. I just notice it's always OP dresses I have a hard time fitting the bust for, the waist is never an issue. My chest measurement literally sits on the the usual max, and while I technically fit, they'd never be comfortable. JetJ stuff is torture for me to browse :c

Sage for irrelevant rant, post more beautiful historic fashion please~

Twenties is kind of hard to emulate in lolita, unless you go for a robe de style kind of look, though. I mean, skirts didn't really poof up until the New Look, which is why 50s lolita is much more common.

Not the anon you're replying to, but I think that dropped waist dresses would work pretty well with a 1920s inspired outfit, even if those dresses were likely inspired from late Edwardian girl's dresses. I typically see VM/Beth (I wish that brand was still around) and a few other classic brands make those.

Well duh, it's fashion. Fashion trends are always set by the most influential and generally wealthy. And it's not like poor people wore stuff of a complete different style, they still tried to mimic what was in, it was just usually much plainer and more practical.

Victorian and rococo styles might be the most common historical kind of fashions present in lolita. I'm curious if there is any lolita coordinates that use Elizabethian era (about 1550 to 1600) references or if it would be an accepted in the lolita fashion if custom made. Nothing too exaggerated, though.
